I brought my daughter up on strong female roles and Melissa's music was a part of that. It didn't matter that my daughter wasn't gay, what mattered was that whatever she felt was okay. Just be yourself, that's what I get from Melissa Etheridge. I saw her live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in 1994 and I am still listening to her music today.
Legend. Loved this lady since the 90s. So proud of her!
No one can rock a room of ladies like she does evenget my straight as a board sisters who is drop dead grorgeous is usually stand right in front of Melissa me a die hard fan cant get close to the Rock godess
How great to hear about her history! Thanks!!
Thank you for creating this channel. I used to have soooo many MLE programs and appearances on VHS that have almost all disappeared in my many moves. Such a great walk down memory lane featuring my favorite musician of all time. ❤️
She is a very beautiful young woman and an excellent singer. I really wish her nothing but the best.
Melissa,s music touchess the soul❤

Glad I found this tonight. This demystified so much for me. Thank you!
How did I have known that the first time I heard this woman she would become as important to me almost as God is not get me wrong God is number one in my life Melissa is number two there is some thing about her as an ethics thing they say but I listen to her almost daily since I was 18 and mom was 60 now her music just plays in my head all day and all night and I have to listen to her I have to have to have to have her in my life another one like that is Joan Armatrading in Bonnie Raitt those three are my everything
Her parents are a treasure. If only more parents back then had responded to ‘coming out’ in the same way.
I love her music.Years ago I won a karaoke contest singing I WANT TO COME OVER.😊
Thanks for this video.
I LOVE MELISSA ETHERIDGE❤
Headed to welcome a queen of rock and roll tomorrow night in Manistee, Michigan.

Thank u 4 my shinning brothers❤️
Thank you so much, Hester! I was looking for this for a while now. I am also looking for some VH1 programming from the 90s. 1) VH1 Weekend Special with Melissa feb 96; 2) VH1 to one with Melissa + The Making of Your Little Secret oct 95. If you happen to have these two, please, let me know!
joyrider08 Hi, I think I have the one about making YLS! Gotta check though if the quality is any good or if I need to edit a bit to improve it. Would love to watch those other VH1 specials you mention but I don’t have those. I have a few other nice specials (e.g storytellers, CMT crossroads with Dolly Parton) that YT unfortunately doesn’t allow me to upload🙁
@@HestersMusicVideos thanks. It would be awesome. If you don't wanna put it here just let me know if you can share somewhere else for me to download. About the VH1, i recently got hold of some files from 95 and 96, mostly commercials, but i found some Melissa bumpers there, especially from when she was artist of the month and I will upload it soon. Unfortunately i didn't find complete shows, except for the Life Beat you have it here.
Looking forward to see what you have!! Thanks a lot! How is the dutch holding on with the pandemic? Is it safer there now?
Hi, I’m working on the VH1/YLS video so watch out for that. Did you see this VH1 special: ua-cam.com/video/bzs3fIbZpyY/v-deo.html ? BTW What is your YT channel? We’re slowly moving out of our ‘intelligent lockdown’ into a new ‘1,5 meter society’. Hopefully we won’t get a 2nd wave but we’ll see this Fall what happens...
@@HestersMusicVideos Thanks. Yes I saw it in your channel. That one was new to me! Here is my YT channel: ua-cam.com/users/angelindisguise80
@@HestersMusicVideos Hi!! Did you find the YLS special?
I still remember the first time I heard ‘Bring Me Some Water’, life changing.
Edit: The inclusion of Tom Cruise was a downer. Realise this is decades old but it’s jarring in 2023.
Bother thank you for my shining brothers
i feel like by now she should of made a life story movie about her..no one should play her but leah thompson
I’m 2 years older then Melissa, and the society upheavals, race relations and Vietnam war never entered my bubble . Except when my much older cousin came home from Vietnam and stayed with us . He had PTS flash backs so we my older sister and I would have to wake him to go to work as a pizza maker. We’d shake his shoulder and runnnnnnnnm
Susan Anderson, Hey 👋. I’m exactly 1 year and 5 days older than Melissa. And I am also a very sheltered kid from way back in the day. The closest bigotry I experienced, inside my Family, was that many of my adoptive Family hadn’t made it through WW2. Almost all were murdered by Hitler and his Nazis. My Aunt/Uncle survived. Bigotry outside of my Family, was directed at me bc I had been adopted into a Jewish Family. Location = tiny town in a deep red, Southern State.
You’re in good hands when you have Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt backing you up
You can tell her mom was……tricky (?)
Well, Julie who was the love of Melissa’s life betrayed Melissa , having a night with KD Lang - because Julie was curious about how it would be with another woman…..
Lo and behold, Julie tells Melissa “ I’m not sure I’m gay”, then breaks up with Melissa , shattering Melissa’s whole world…… ( shame on you Julie but , you do you).
Melissa winds up marrying another woman , having twins with her and ….. Melissa leaves her, ( because she wasn’t the love of Melissa’s life)…… now… today… she’s married to Linda Wallem, who is now basically managing Melissa’s career, and they seem very happy together.
With Melissa on the soul-crushing boringness of white bread and mayonnaise.
Funny that gays are so supportive i guess of each other but not the rest of us
Sad that gays need to be so supportive of each other since the rest of the human bunch usually do not.
@doree: What a strange thing to say. Melissa and kd are both humanitarians, and have done many benefits/charities.
