just a point about your parbuckle winch... You are supposed to *parbuckle* with it, not drag logs sideways. Loop the line over the top of the log, round underneath, then secure back to the mill. The line will cause the log to roll toward the mill (and gain you an additional 2:1 mechanical advantage), rather than be dragged sideways.
Good morning there buddy how are ya? I don’t cut hemlock mostly pine and cedar here in “ the peoples democratic socialist republic of Kaliforniastan “. I get some cedar that is banana shaped, I generally slab them to make curved bench’s. Folks like them a lot. Also I don’t cut a lot of logs with huge knots for lumber I slab that as well, or fire wood it. No one wants lumber with big knots. I sure don’t! Thanks for sharing God bless you and yours
I'm great! Thanks for checking in. I like the curved bench idea, maybe I'll give that a try. I'm not shying away from the knotty lumber because it's all for me to practice and learn on. I'll save the clear boards for when I know what I'm doing :)
