I am impressed with Mr.Rupert's teaching. It is something I need to know to improve my education. This is a lesson I will watch over and over again. Really great lesson.❤😊🙏
This video is emphasis of what we do about formal addresses or other formal activities whether exams or email or could be a thing which is regarding to formal contexts.... It's super useful anyways 😃😃😺😃!
This session was excellent. I have been using English in writing for a long time, however, I never learned these things so detailed and thorough. Thank you so much. By the way, I am interested to learn speaking English from you.
Thanks for the kind comment! I have a speaking and pronunciation course if you are interested - details on my website rupertwalsh.com. Or, there are some speaking skills videos on my channel (I will organize them into a playlist at some point!)
Everything you taught in the video makes sense. I believe there should even be a " vade mecum" on how to write effectively. I've come across an article recently whose heading went like this: And relax, use of the English language becoming more informal, say experts. It's probably true, all languages change over time for a myriad of reasons however students learning a foreign language have no choice in the matter.
Hi! It is true that English is becoming more informal, particularly in the USA, but there's still very much a requirement for formal English in a situation where there is a need to be "respectful" - I think it will be a long time before "formal" English disappears 🙂
@@EnglishwithRupert Good afternoon, Perhaps I didn't put across clearly what I meant ....I wasn't criticising your lesson - far from it! It was the article that I found confounding.
Would you please make a video on reported speech with all time expressions.Simplenpresent tense .If someone said something in the past and it is not yet happened now should we use Is or Was❤❤❤
... can the more formal expressions "Therefore, Hence, Consequently & Accordingly" be also replaced (apart from "So") by "That is why" or would it be unacceptably informal? ... thanks informally ...
Hi! "That is why" is slightly more on the formal side, and to make it informal we use the contraction "That's why". Although in practice it works in the same way as the words you mentioned, it adds more emphasis to the reason
Nearly. We have this situation where we can use "the" followed by an adjective to mean "all of those with the quality of this adjective", as you have correctly applied here in writing "the incompetent". However, in a phrase "make the" + adjective, we add another adjective without "to" i.e. "make the incompetent competent".
very useful and interesting this youtube. tq
I'm grateful for your kind comment 🙂
Sir , you are the definition of " Teacher " !
That's very kind of you 🤗
Very informative video on the formal and informal language construction of English as occasionally used.
I hope the information has helped you make progress with your English - thanks for commenting :)
Your video lessons are worth my time.
Thanks Realpoaz! I'm grateful for your comment 😁
Great! Thank you very much.
Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
It is really helpful! Thank you very much!
Thanks for letting me know YawYaw!
It would be even better if there are time stamps on your videos. Thanks ❤
Thanks! To be completely honest, I've never done this before. Perhaps it's time for me to learn 😄

Good afternoon,
Perhaps I didn't put across clearly what I meant ....I wasn't criticising your lesson - far from it!
It was the article that I found confounding.
Oh that's completely fine! I didn't take your comment as criticism, I was continuing your discussion 🙂 Have a good week!
Thanks a lot
I'm really pleased that you found it useful 🙂
I will have to watch this later gaffer.
Thanks for posting another dog's bollocks lessons.
Fare thee well for now.
Have a bubby dazzler weekend
Thanks for letting me know! Have a great weekend 😀

I made this video on reported speech a few months ago: ua-cam.com/video/gu-4J5vmdkw/v-deo.html.
See if this answers your questions 🙂
Can we replace "This" with "It" to refer to the hotel handbook? Thanks.
Yes, that would work. "It" most commonly refers to a specific noun when referring backwards, whilst "this" can refer to a noun or a whole sentence. 😀

Hi, Is this sentence grammatically correct?
"We should not make the incompetent to competent."
Nearly.
