    Thank you SO much for making this video. We are putting lights on a new house for the first time and my husband is not about risking his life for our lights- these ideas will save our light hanging!

    Smart, very smart. I like the part where he looks at the camera and says something like - The lights look okay but it's really for my wife and kids. Good man, man.

    Watching in 2020. The pully, reinforcing the entire line with rope, the pre intalled hooks, THE WINDOWS! This video gave me some excellent ideas to use together with PVC pipe. Thanks for this video buddy. MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!!!

    Easier. On inside i put 4hooks on all windows and hook a correct size lite net for shrubs. Works fantastic Put on a timer Lites last longer because they are inside

    Can you go into more detail about that pulley on the left? For us newbies?

    My old house was almost identical to yours -- but some of this will come in handy in my current house too, despite the different shape. Thanks!

    I love the rope idea. It's an eloquent solution. Can a closed-loop eye be used instead of the pulley, or am I missing something with the pulley?

    Great idea, I always have patients in hospital with broken bones, not enjoying his lights and the holidays after a fall.

      +Mauli Ako lol I hate the idea of spending any amount of time broken let alone the holidays. Hopefully this bed might save a broken knee or two! 😉

    I LOVE your dry humor, but it would be helpful if you could have given more details about the actual hooks and how you placed them.

    • @simplesmartspace9203
      @simplesmartspace9203  2 роки тому

      I used hooks like this:
      Everbilt #8 Zinc-Plated Steel Screw Hook (25-Piece per Pack)
      www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-8-Zinc-Plated-Steel-Screw-Hook-25-Piece-per-Pack-803282/204273838
      SKU# 204273838
      If you pre-drill a hole that is just a bit smaller than the hook threadsand only about a finger deep, it'll go in easy and grab tight once you get to the bottom of your drilled hole.

    Cool. I've seen J channel and pvc pipe, but rope seems cheaper and more flexible. The kids and I are excited about this idea. The husband does NOT send his thanks. ;)

    • @simplesmartspace9203
      @simplesmartspace9203  6 років тому +1

      +J K haha sorry husband! Yeah the Rope is flexible and it's much easier to store. But the idea of a PVC pipe or j-channel would be good if you weren't doing icicle type lights, you could control the orientation of every single light and that would be good...

    • @Dannoadams
      @Dannoadams 5 років тому +1

      That part is challenging. I run white extension cords up the front of the house. I make them custom length from a 250 foot roll of 18 gauge lamp cord and plugs like these: www.1000bulbs.com/category/christmas-light-plugs/

    What climate do you live in. Are the window clips command hooks? Would they stay attached in very cold, snow climate. I live in the NE. I like you pulley idea. But how do you keep the lights on the rope. What type of rope since you probably needed 50’? Pulley idea seems good since I’m older and family hate me going up on ladders.

    • @simplesmartspace9203
      @simplesmartspace9203  2 роки тому +1

      I'm in northern Utah, the command hooks seem to hold in the cold. I used zip ties and cheap poly rope for minimal stretching.

    • @elsieandroid
      @elsieandroid 4 роки тому

      There should be an outlet near each window. Or you have to use extension cords. You can also use lights with batteries.
