- We're all-in for Devil May Cry 5 this March, having enjoyed a good five hours with the game earlier this month, so we had plenty to talk about when we sat down with Game Director and games industry legend Hideaki Itsuno.

If there is a special edition of this game, I hope that there is an option to upgrade your regular copy to the special edition rather than having to buy the entire game again. I did that once with DMC 3. I will NOT do that again.

I've done it with every game. I own at least 2 versions of each. Thank God we live in a time where they can add things without needing to release a second version. 3 needed the SE because DLC wasnt a thing. 4 and DmC got ported to the next gen. This time we are set up for proper DLC. And if there's one thing Capcom loves, its DLC.

By Special Edition he means completely new characters to play as in the game, like Vergil for example (who's playable in DMC4SE but not vanilla DMC4)
Awesome interview. So stoked and excited for this game. Can't believe it's coming so soon. Waited 11 years, and there were times I was sure DMC will never return to 4's story or return at all!
But the official wait only started last summer and time flies. Crazy.

DmC reboot "Unfortunately for VARIOUS REASONS we never got work off the ground".
Very professional of Itsuno-san saying the game bombed, they wanted that to succeed but the fans wanted the OG series which is tons better.
I pity games journalists and DmC fans overall. They'll have to live with the lie that Itsuno actually wanted to make this game, and not with the reality that this is all just polite Japanese speak.

I'm sure a special edition isn't coming out and we are going to get playable Vergil one day, that could mean two things.
Either Playable Vergil does exist at this point in time, or he is a DLC.
Vergil has always been special edition or dlc

It's just content that doesn't come in the base game, which you can purchase.
@Albert Wesker He wasn't unlockable in DMC3, we basically had to buy the game twice. Same thing with DMC4 and UMVC3

Bladewolfs theme starts playing as Vergil shows up on a hill Carrying Nero in one arm as Dante looks back and goes
Dante: "Well look what dropped in from his stay away trip in hell. What happened got lost on your way back from the river stixs, you always did never like long boat rides."
Vergil: "My sincerest apologies brother, I got so excited at the thought of over throwing the Demon King I just had to be in my Sunday best."

Devil may Cry 5 is everything that I've ever wanted. I was a die hard fan of the 4th game when I was 9 years old. This is incredible.

@@ceo9915 Eh... current day Kamiya i don't think would fit the current DMC formula. He's a big fan of inserting arcade games and QTEs in his game for some reason. I find him a tad overrated, but I more than admire his spirit and desire to make the games HE wants to play.
@@ceo9915 Kamiya made devil may cry 1 if you like that gameplay then sure but Itsuno is the person that made people love DMC 2,3,4,5, stop acting like he the new guy and your bias is showing. I really can't see a problem with finishing a story arc with the main character death, I don't see how that a problem in of itself other then you want him to live as your preferred story.
God, the wait for march 8th is literally killing me inside.

@@vergilsonofsparda341 i be honest i played last of us and red dead 2 however those game feel more like movies than actually a video game. Instead of making stories that cannot be replicated through movies like shadow of colossus, or Team ICO work in general they just to emulate movies and gameplay feels like an after thought.
@@aasdgnxcv4504 they are definitely ways to incorporate good stories into gameplay like Team ICO, or Yoko Taro Nier Automata making a story that can only be told through the gaming median however that has better combat than majority of games nowdays because of platinums talent. I been team ICO is the only game studio i can think of that can make an escort mission feel interesting instead of cheap attempts like bioshock infinite and last of us where they invincible or invisible for the enemy.
I just want to see Lucia, even if you cant play as her it'd still be REALLY cool to see an updated version of her!
These classic video games took years before they release it. Making us be nostalgic and unforgettable experience. Not just its gameplay, but their story that we want to escape into reality. (Pardon me on my english)

No DmC 2 because of "Various reasons". Aka it sold like crap and most of the fanbase hated it.

Splinter333 battlefield 5 has also some great reviews and critics. Its probably fanbase are sexist
@Splinter333 while the game didn't tank it was poorly received, even if not initially. Features and depth were stripped from DmC and the game performed worse than dmc3 and 4, running at only 60. Critic's opinions as far as games go is fairly meaningless if fans aren't behind, critics aren't going to be the ones financially supporting the game after all.
Dragons Dogma 2, Darkstalkers 3, God Hand 2...man there’s so many sequels I want this guy to make 😂. Just getting DMC 5 is a dream come true!
Would LOOOVE to see a Darkstalkers "fighting-action" game, perhaps one starring fan-favorite Morrigan, & maybe Donovan, or maybe even BB Hood. Would work really well in a Devil May Cry style of gameplay.

@@Ineedgames - Indeed. The character has enough lore that Capcom could make a game starring just Morrigan...though can you have a Morrigan game w/o Lilith as an npc or part of a special move? I assume such a game would play similar to Bayonetta, which itself plays like Devil May Cry...OMG, why isn't this already a thing?!

My thoughs on the cameo system is that "girls might be watching"
Remember the recent V gameplay trailer where Nero was fighting in the background at one point, I think that was a sneak peek of the cameo system.
I think we should spread the word so that capcom knows about it

I would have loved it if he made a dragons dogma 2 instead of DMC 5. That said I am glad we DMC5, it is incredible, and it has me watering at the mouth at the thought of Dragons DOgma combat with DMC5 graphics, It will be the final game i will ever need to purchase. Dragons Dogma is my favorite game of the ps3 eraand beyond

I hope to play as DMC3 Dante and Virgil with some of the old weapons from number 3 returning with some older traditional moves and some new twists as well like they did Cerberus, because honestly Devil May Cry 3 is the best Devil May Cry when it comes to weapons and abilities Dante and Virgil had alongside with their different fighting abilities, I want to be able to run on walls do pole swings and have the same abilities to Wild stomping Freeride as well with Dante Virgil and Nero if possible.

I hope we will be able to unlock sparda himself end game and not as a skin. I would surely replay the entire game as him if its possible to unlock after hard mode like old times. But i repeat myself, i hope that if he is available its not as a simple skin. I want to play as sparda himself with his unique abilities, devil form and all the goodies. Many games today only offer skins here and there. To me personally skins suck, i would not grind in hard mode for appearance items. So far DMC5 does look beautiful and gameplay looks great so i am surely buying it either way though.
Capcom doing well lately... Probably will never happen but I'd like to see another Breath of Fire game with beautiful cell shaded graphics similar to the old style but updated for today.
