It was my personal game of the year as well. I have been a DMC fan since PS2. I have been waiting for DMC 5 since after finishing DMC 4 back in 2008. I’m still trying to get S ranks in Dante Must Die in DMC 5 now.

@@MegaAlexFX On pc version you could mod vergil in the game, he isn't complete though. Isn't as smooth as vergil in special edition.

@@Romb772 well, Sekiro was an exception. It was probably most deserved GOTY since Witcher 3. But usually GOTY winner is either boring story driven game, like God of War or TLOU 2, or some shitty game that doesn't deserve GOTY at all like Overwatch
DMC deserved it, sure it was a short game but it was rememberable and a ton of replayability to it. Plus that soundtrack is amazing.

for sure no action game makes you feel more badass than DMC5. Although best combat system is up for debate.
I think DMC4 has the best with the introduction of Distortion, the Attack cancels, and of course, Inertia. DMC5 has one of the smoothest gameplay, no doubt
Honestly I dont see it winning from Nioh, but that may be just me. Nioh's combat is phenomenal.
I still feel DMC 5 has been robbed a bit because:
1) didn't get nominated while control and death stranding did
2) didn't win best music award even though devil trigger had most views
As much as i love DMC's ost i still think it shouldn't win best music award because some of the other games there had an amazing ost like Kingdom hearts 3 or even cadence of hyrule...But now death stranding winning? I was damn salty about that one because people voted on that shit for the licensed music instead of the others which had original music.

@@Rubenyny KH3 definitely should have been the winner. Yoko Shimimura has created masterpieces for years along with Hikaru Utada being a part of the official soundtrack.

Because to most "Action game" is anything with fast paced combat, instead of 3D melee focused games. I don't agree with it either but as long as my idea of what an action game is is mentioned then I'm fine.

DMC5 had the best audience cheers during nominees. Not exactly surprised, but definitely happy.
Devil May Cry story is an... interesting one.
DMC1: Born from a prototype of Resident Evil 4, become his own game that was amazing and define the genre of the hack and slash.
DMC2: It was a DISASTER.
DMC3: The best entry in the franchise, recovering from the previous game.
DMC4: It wasn't bad but he felt the release of the 3, so it was "inferior" but still a good game.
DMCReboot: I can't comment this. Not talking about the gameplay, but CringDante was enough to not let me play the game.
DMC5: Came out after almost 10 years from the 4, destroyed everything, win the Action Game of the year 2019.

as if there was any question, Devil May Cry 5 is the culmination of one of gaming's oldest and definitely it's most important Hack and Slash franchise. the other games are good, but DMC5 is PEAK

@@legendarydigitize2523 That's really subjective and really comes down to your personal preference and what series your more a fan of. Character action games are one of my favorite genres. Having played and owned nearly every game in that genre. The holy trinity for me is Devil May Cry series, Ninja Gaiden series, and Bayonetta series. Nothing comes close to any of those series, when it comes to overall depth, skill, combat, etc. My favorite game in each series is Devil May Cry 3, Ninja Gaiden II, and Bayonetta 2. But all three series delivers. With the Bayonetta series being the most consistent in quality. All three Bayonetta games are critically acclaimed. Where as Devil May Cry 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3 didn't fair well with critics, even though I still enjoyed them. They all have unique combat systems. So it's hard to say which is the definitive action game. Of course people will be bias to their favorite. But they're all great.

Best hack n slash game ever
It's linear, it's short, but damn hell it's fun! Extreme replayability value, epic soundtrack, second best storyline in the series(Sorry, DMC 3 still takes the cake for story), best combat engine in the series, and a return to form for DMC. Definitely GOTY material.
Bloody Palace on its own is enough to keep you going for a while, three characters to choose from, each unlock you an achievement if you beat the mode with each one, and each have their own unique attacks which add to the replay value as well.
