Mayweather is the king of ducking. He normalized waiting for fighters to get old or out of their prime before ever facing them. Case in point, he waited for Shane Mosley, Oscar De la Hoya, and Pacquiao to be well past their primes before ever fighting them. Mayweather normalized waiting out other fighters until they start to decline first and then fighting them. I wonder where all these new era fighters get these ideas from? Back in the day you fought the best while your competitors were in their prime. He actually thinks he fought Cáñelo in his prime! Does anyone believe that Cáñelo was a better fighter in his early 20s when he fought Mayweather than Cáñelo right now age 31. Of course not. Cáñelo is a much better fighter.

And I also very much agree with what he said about an amateur career coach not being a good professional career coach. I believe that's what happened with Lomachenko, and the examples would be his defeats against Salido, and then against Teofimo. Both happened because of amateur mentality.
In a cryptic way he's telling these young fighters who are trained from the amateurs with their fathers that they need to split and get real trainers that could bring you to the next level or you're growth will be stunted. Look at Kenny porter for example, his son never grew from the amateurs. He was the same predictable fighter his whole career which is why he never got to the elite level. Same goes for Danny Garcia and Teofimo. The only reason Floyd was successful at the professional level is because his dad had professional experience and knew what it took to stay at an elite level. These trainers coming from the amateurs with no experience will never get their fighter to the next level.
