It had been rather funny watching people from the QnA chat who absolutely hated the Azur Lane event because of their outfits and how unhistorical it is for them to be the commander of a ship, obsess over these bikini girls and actively complain about the price to them.
Like I'd honestly love for one of these people to explain to me what is so different between the two? Only real difference I can see is that the Azur Lane girls are designed to be real characters, with personalities and designs that at least somewhat reflect their culture or ship they are based on. These two commanders are just random women in different colour bikini's with their nips showing that if you swapped the flag behind them it wouldn't make a difference they have that little to do with the countries they are meant to be from. Like shit you could put the American flag and Pan-Europe flags behind the girls and it would still work. Really the only faction flags you couldn't fully get away with would be to put the Japanese and Pan-Asian flags behind them.
But Hornet who is wearing more clothes than ether of these bikini girls, and looks very much American, is "under dressed" and "one wrong move from a wardrobe malfunction" as I saw one person in the QnA chat put it.
Sorry for the micro rant, it's just been annoying me seeing how people have been acting in the QnA chat for the entire run of the Azur Lane battle pass compared to now with the summer event.
I missed the QnA and so I am also curious. I personally see two different categories here.
AL looks like typical anime to me, noiseless cartoon girls with exaggerated breasts and cartoon eyes. I would expect it to appeal to anime fans.
These two have more realistic human cartoon features, different enough from anime to appeal to people who are not anime fans.

As a Mexican player, it hurt my soul not hearing them speak their Native language. This event is a huge pass for me.
But I'm glade it was my soul and not my wallet that's hurting this time.
I would expect those captains to be native speakers, it feels more natural than these boobas.
It reminds me Spanísh Santa captain comments sound funny, even I am getting fragments of what he is telling.
WG decided go not just doublons way to offer these boobas but make it attractive for every international buyer (expected basics of english).
Boobas are worth of common 10 pts captain for me, so no extra pay.
There is chance you going get doubs at discounted price when Johnston online or just another but more valueable doubs offer.
240K doubs to get random T9 and down premiums its better to wait cash back coupon on birt date and get 100 percent cash back and go for more Santa containers or maybe black Friday event.
Getting single ship with 25perc coupon off is also option, you probably get many premium ship for ingame resources once you start to play regularly.

I'm actually surprised that the Summer Festival "advertising" didn't cause an outcry on Twitter. Heavy eye roll at that art, and they fell out of my head once i looked at the actual event itself. Every event going on right now is basically worthless unless you spend a lot of money.
WG really knows their playerbase
You get 1000 tokens as compensation if you get the paid battle pass and already have the Golden Eagle camo for Kansas or Minnesota or if you already have the Jurua. That's 3000 total IF you already have that stuff.
True old players that did buy Jurua or have gotten it otherwise and did enough tasks in Early access of US 2nd Battleships, this won't be a much of issue, but for newer players this is just one way to milk money.
so 2000 for me, as i already have the camo for sota and the jura, but sadly not the kansas or vermont (but i do have the shuttle camo for the tug bote)

If you already have Jurua, then the compensation will be 1,000 Summer Tokens. Similarly if you have the Gold Eagle camo for Minnesota.

I see that they are going to get rid of all the Dasha commanders in the next update. Glad I got one of her for each Country. I miss her doing the update video and don't really care for the current replacement.

Given the number of commanders I've never used that I've picked up from various events, any urge to waste money on trying to get these ladies is non-existent. If I'm going to spend doubloons, it'll be on the Johnston when it releases. Just because it's the Johnston.
The only ship in those ship-boxes is the Alliance and I don't want it.
You can get some tokens in the pass if you have the Pan-america DD and perma-cammos for the USN BB.
I can only buy the Rare bonus packages, the female commanders and the Credits containers (living in belguim)
So, if i buy the doubloons those are the only things i can spend them on.

Feel like even if you're the kind of person to put enough money into the game for 240,000 doubloons, getting one of each premium container from tier 5 to 9 wouldn't be particularly valuable. Someone willing to spend that much probably already has most if not all the premiums anyway.

Your math ain’t mathing. There is a special 75000 doubloons package for $300 that includes 15,000 tokens. So you don’t need to buy 240,000 doubloons. Just 150,000. And you have 30k tokens which is enough for the ship boxes and both commanders and other stuff.

The ship containers are a bad deal for long-term players. If you have all the ships that can be obtained through a container (as I have for tiers V, VI and VII), you get credits. Really cheap on WG's part. Anyone who has that many ships has no need for more credits. The tokens for doubloon purchases isn't such a great deal, either. The only way anyone should be buying doubloons is with the two-for-one birthday deal.

Ok, so WG pulled the rug on y'all with the ol' Battle Pass switcheroo, which I don't like. BUT! There IS a way to get them IF you own the Gold Eagle camos and Jurua. You'll get token cashback (2800 tokens) so you only need to pay for a 2500 doubloon pack for 250 more tokens, which is ALSO enough doubloons for the Battle Pass.

That bundle with the 5 premium ship containers costs $1250 Canadian dollars. Are they crazy? You'll spend less than half if you just buy 5 ships.

My main disappointment was with that ship container bundle, was willing to grind the tokens but you can't grind the tokens or buy them if someone at WG hit their head and made it financially accessible
And WG asked on the survey how interesting these commanders are and if we want more pegi 12 content in the game, they are up to more ways to milk money from the playerbase

My problem is that I have just under 500 ships, but still have about 50 ships in the tech tree to get (not including subs and superships) I refuse to research anymore subs and superships (I have one of each). So there are very few ships available to me for these events, none of which actually interest me.

Wargaming can't even fix their own web servers. Access to armory and other web-based services is still patchy. But they will gladly accept your 48 euros for each of these "captains".

This is really disappointing. I waited to start my Spanish cruiser grind, hoping to start with a lvl10 captain. There are no other such captains in the game, so I was excited to get a booba captain with 10 points. And then it turns out WG wants me to shell out 50€ for this. No thank you. I'd rather do it the old way and grind a captain from 0.

They even made 100% Sure to make a little surprise poke through the bra on the red one. At this rate, why not release a playboy mag with the purchase of each tier 10 premium for an added fee. I have 4 sisters, a wife of 38 plus years, two daughters and two grand-daughters. I have an issue with objectifying woman the way the most recent update does it. Bikinis and small ones at that only makes me think the creators of this game are very odd. What is next? Porn? Perhaps win the battle and experience AI thrills??? Pay 10,000 dblooms and ....?
For goodness' sake, there should be a BIG backlash for this latest money making effort. Should we call these dudes: Game Pimps. That event is badly planned. Don´t they realize that especially in europe, people get payed their salary roughly around the last or first day of the month? That´s the time when the money burns a hole in your pockets. After the 15th (some salaries get paid there too, but not many, due to the banks or any kind of services book and draft around the first) the people have mostly spent their money and the budget for the rest of the month is planned... Not that I want to participate, for me this event is absolutely useless.
