- Here's yet another European empire to add to the series. Today I present "Level Up - Bulgarian Empire". See the history of the nation from its nomadic Turkic origins, to its gradual conquering of the Balkan Peninsula, and finally to the modern republic that exists today.
Also, when I originally made "Level Up - Ottoman Empire" (the first one I made), I never imagined I'd eventually make 40 Level Up videos. It's interesting how things go.

As a consequence, groups of the Cumans and the Tatars settled and mingled with the local population in various regions of the Balkans. The Cumans were the founders of three successive Bulgarian dynasties (Asenids, Terterids and Shishmanids) and the Wallachian dynasty (Basarabids). The Asparuh's Bulgars, who were not numerous, settled in the Balkans with a single migration wave, which Michael the Syrian described as numbering 10,000.[3] Therefore, they gradually were assimilated into the Slavic culture, until by the 10th century they had adopted the Slavic language, with the Bulgar language going extinct in the kingdom.[4]
This is true, and the father of the Slavs, Tsar Simeon the Great. between the 9th and 11th centuries there were two cultural "invasions" of the Thracian Bulgarians. To the other two Bulgarian empires.

How did the Bulgars win the battle of Ongal, if they were only 10 thousand? In the battle of Ongal they had an army of between 10 and 12 thousand.
The greatest obstacle to the empire's revival was the presence to the south ofthe Danube of the Bulgar khaganate with its capital at Pliska and a southern frontier in the Hebros/Maritza valley only three days march from Constantinople. In 780 the Bulgar state had survived in close proximity to Byzantium for almost a century, taking advantage of the empire's internal problems and wars against the Arabs, and this survival had hardened it into an extremely tough political entity. Its Turkic ruling elite combined the military ferocity of the steppe people they had been with the agricultural resource base of the Slav peasantry they dominated and with the skills of civilization acquired from Greek traders, captives, and defectors.

Great video honestly man, although I feel like it would've been better to give it some more time instead of rushing through some stuff like the Golden Age and the Decline of the FBE overall I really liked it and was honestly wishing for one done for my country after watching your channel for years.
Also like the accuracy of the borders, they're pretty neat give or take but this is among the most accurate showing of them.

@@thecerealprovider3831 more stuff would happen 1. The kingdoms before united Scotland (like you stated) 2. Then semi-union of England and Scotland 3. The British empire we were a huge part of it aswell. Other notes we had some parts of ireland and claimed areas such as Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, East New Jersey, Darien, Georgia and the Darien scheme. We were also apart of Nordic empires and have been around for ages it won’t be the best level up ever but it certainly wouldn’t be the worst Scotland has a huge history and it could be used.
