I have been waiting for you to post a early summer video. As always, right to the point and very informative. Here in CT. we have been harvesting Chickens and Reishi for about two weeks now although I haven’t found any chanterelles yet. Thanks 🙏

It's been pretty dry and I haven't spent as much time in the woods as I would like... you know (life). Reishi are weak this year in my neck of the woods. Spotted another chicken today but it was to dried out. We're getting some heavy thunder storms now so maybe the chanterelles will pop! Sure hope so. Thanks for checking in and happy hunting!!

Here in the Western Cape (South Africa) it is our rainy season currently, but our autumn also produced much less chicken of the woods (the one positive is that this led me to explore new areas and I found many dried out specimens, so I will be exploring those oak trees very early next year)
Unfortunately it seems that we also have much less abundant flushes of pine rings / saffron milk caps ...but I might just have to be patient as we are now receiving lots of rain and hopefully over the next few weeks we will have major flushes.
We were very lucky to have received the mushrooms (together with the trees that were planted here from Europe and the Americas) ... Luckyer still: not the bugs! so we do not have to worry about mushrooms being as buggy as it apparently is the case in the US

Finding new areas is always exciting because you never know whats around the corner. The rain is key... hope those flushes pop for you and yes you are very lucky with no bugs!! Thanks for watching and good luck with those new areas!

In canada we normally blame the bugs on the warm weather, and humidity. Something tells me that must be the wrong logic, if south africa isn't buggy.

@@KendrickManfor me it's a race... to beat the wildlife, bugs and humans but for the most part... it's the bugs!! The southern part of the state's seem to have this problem. I think you're right... it's the heat/humidity. If South Africa has dry heat maybe it's just the humidity that brings the bugs. Not sure but when I find a flush with no bugs... I'm jacked!!! Thanks for watching and happy bug free hunting!!!

Yes! It's been a rough year... not much rain in June. I'm thinking July will better... well it really doesn't have much choice. Some rain is better than no rain. Good news is the chicken doesn't need that much rain to fruit. Thanks for watching and good luck hunting!!!

I guess I'm old school... I've got a hand held Magellan 300. I used it for deer hunting and never put it down. So if you know of a good app I would love to know what it is... Thanks for checking in and happy hunting!
