Spoiler alert (a) I’m too old to care what people think and (b) yeah, it’s because I’m NOT them and (c) I don’t don’t make money on this - I just do it purely for fun, to share with others who DO enjoy it, and for them to have fun with the Quad Cortex or whatever gear it is and get inspired to play and create! Outstanding demo/comparison (and playing). I had the Eventide Tricerachorus but found that it was thin and cut a lot of low end. I now use the Neunaber Immerse and Red Seven Lil Wave as slightly more ‘affordable’ options for Tri-Chorus but I’d love to try the TERC one day.

      @nickmellor344 Thank you so much! I’ve heard excellent things about the Immerse! I have the Eventide (H9 max) with the tricera chhorus, the Neunaber Immerse and the digitech nautila 8 voice chorus - all pedals. I have the same impression, I was a little bit disappointed by the tricera chorus. I like the Neunaber best, but only in the first selected position (single trichorus without detune). On the other hand I think the digitech nautila is one of the best chorus pedals with an incredible wide sound stage. Very good as a substitute for a trichorus.

      @vaisatchatrucci  9 місяців тому +2

      @ianmacneil556 Thank you! Pleasure is all mine and glad you liked it! Signal chain was guitar -> Revival Drive Hotrod Edition (set clean obviously) -> line splitter which routed each split into the input of each effect as well as the OX Stomp for cab sims and then the output of all were connected to an RJM line mixer and then I ran the output of the line mixer out in stereo into my Apollo Twin interface.
      For my rack rig, I run all FX into the RedSeven MLSM (stereo mixer) which I could have used but I have so much already plugged into it and it works so I didn't want to mess with it for fear of it not working next time I play! LOL

      @vaisatchatrucci  9 місяців тому +1

      @tubo777 Thanks so much! Appreciate that very much! I’m friends with the guy who makes those Threeways so I’ll ask him - I think at the time I bought mine it was literally the last one he had but that was at the start of the pandemic. He was having trouble sourcing the parts mainly but I’ll ask and let you know for sure! The CXM is AMAZING and YES absolutely nails the Lexicon sound it’s a beautiful sounding reverb. I would also say (which I just found out) that the new’ish Meris Mercury X reverb has the same algorithms as the CXM and I may be going that route if that’s the case but I’ll have to hear it to believe it. The demos I’ve heard of the Mercury X are pretty mind blowing too but I absolutely love the tactile factor of the CXM and in the LEAST will keep it for home studio use and maybe swap it for the Mercury X in my rack. Bottom line, I can’t recommend the CMX enough man it’s a STUNNING sounding reverb.

      @@vaisatchatrucci Thats great to know. I´m in the process of building my first rack and have all the units except the reverb so the I was looking for a pcm70 or an 81, but I live in rep. Argentina, and they are scarce and very expensive here, and was thinking that maybe some of the new pedals or an H90 does the job and I dont risk my money in an old unit (theres no way I can service one down here). But theres so much talk about "the sound or Mojo" of a pcm 70 that I was afraid of missing it as I already bought all the Eventide, TERC , 2290, 1210 etc and still no Lexicon😬. Could you elaborate more on the pickup selection, is that magic position from the pickups switching to parallel and which to 2 pickups are they?

    • @vaisatchatrucci
      @vaisatchatrucci  7 місяців тому +1

      @matttaylor1449 Yes so in “normal” mode for each pickup which is the buttons in the UP position, they are in series and in the DOWN position they are switched to parallel. So the sound I like the most for cleans is with the pickup 5-way selector in the 2nd position which is Bridge / Middle and the Bridge in series (UP) and the middle in parallel (DOWN). I believe that’s correct. The thing to remember about these pickups as well is that the “single coils” are actually stacked single coils so they are noiseless and not traditional single coils so switching them to parallel gives them the effect in a way of being “split” which thins out the sound but it also retains the low-end more than splitting what is essentially a humbucker. Hope that helps!

    Amazing work. The tone of my dreams! I have to make do with the Tricerachorus plugin, which tbf gets me pretty close. I record my Strat through one of those Rockman Ace boxes to help me get a bit of that snap. Now I'm wondering if I should try and emulate that mid boost with a pedal of some sorts...

    • @vaisatchatrucci
      @vaisatchatrucci  8 місяців тому +1

      @funkmachine6420 Thanks brother! The mid-boost on the guitar I was using I actually never turned on, what you are hearing is the switching of parallel to series and vice-versa on each pickup that assists in this tone. So if you look up the latest Dann Huff interview by Vertex Effects they have put a link in the description to a wiring diagram that shows how to match the wiring of Dann Huffs strat and that is going to get you closer than adding a mid-boost for sure. Hope that helps!

      @@vaisatchatrucci hey dude! Oh really? Ha no way, I watched that interview but skipped through the wiring bit as I didn't think it'd be for me (not very handy). Thanks so for much for that tip, I will go through that section in great detail!

    • @NikolausBrocke
      @NikolausBrocke 4 місяці тому

      The so called "midboost" is not a true midboost. It's a combination of an impedance transformer (buffer) and a boost circuit that boosts low frequencies at 100 Hz with a wide Q-factor. The combination of both is important. The buffer changes the impedance from high to low. This opens the frequency spectrum because the load (cable, pots) have no influence on the tone anymore. Great for clean tones! You can plug in to a line input without sounding dull. But when you play overdriven lead tones this has too much high frequencies. That's when the "mid boost" does his thing. In boosting lows, the nasty highs are tamed for the high gain tone.
      It's like VaiSatchAtrucci said, the series/parallel switch seems to do the most magic. You can use a passive circuit and have an external buffer pedal. E. g. the lehle sunday driver or the xotic super clean buffer.

      @@Lonnie-B1 Hello! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! As for if there was delay, no there was not, just reverb was added. As for whether there was a compressor, I honestly don’t know - I put the signal chain on the screen and did not list it so it’s likely that I did not have a compressor on. The Revival Drive has a nice bit of natural compression inherent to the pedal. IF there was compression on it would have either been the Suhr Woodshed Compressor or the Origin Effects Cali-76 Stacked Edition and the settings I use for those is an “always on” type setting that isn’t particularly extreme so it’s hard to tell if it’s even on most of the time in either case. That said, NORMALLY I have one of those ALWAYS on but set very mild and use them more than anything to push the preamp of whatever amp I’m running into whether physical analog / tube preamps or virtual (I.e. I did used to have the Mini Effects Gizmo but not the “X” version which the only main difference is that the “X” has stereo capable loops and the one I had was just mono but I sold that a while back. The micro Line Mixer is being used on my pedalboard to basically allow me to run all the “wet” fx (anything not overdrive, compression or gain / preamp related) in parallel so I can keep all those signal paths of those devices unaffected by any of the other wet effects in use which provides (in my opinion) more clarity and more stable level control where I don’t have to worry about the level of the delay hitting the reverb too hard and clipping it or whatever. @@stiansveen No problem! I usually just go out stereo from the wet output but the wet output also has the dry output mixed in. You can turn off the dry mix (set dry level control to zero/off) and then dry out of the physical dry output for wet / dry / wet but I only have 2 amps so I would need a 3rd amp to run wet/dry/wet technically. I can run wet out into my two FR/FRs and run the dry out to one amp which would work but it would sound better if I had a 3rd amp. I can also sum the wet output (with the dry mix level off) to mono and run mono wet fx into one amp and run out the dry output to the 2nd amp and run wet/dry as well. I have a DI box that has a sum button that I have had to use for live for PA’s which aren’t running in stereo so that my delays translate correctly. For me I just enjoy running stereo whether it be direct or into my 2 amps which is impractical enough without adding a 3rd amp 😂 but it sounds so good in the room it’s a lot of fun.

If you just have one wet effect like an H9 or H90 or something you can go out of the dry output on the RJM Micro line mixer and feed that into the input of the H9/H90 as an example but since I needed at least 3 dry signals I chose to go the JHS buffered splitter route and it works great. Great comparison and very useful. Thanks for your work. I never heard of the threeway. It has the widest and smoothest sound. Its very expensive. I could not find any other demo on youtube.
    I have a small and a big rack. In the small rack I use the neuaber inspire trichorus. It sounds a little bit better for me than the eventide tricera trichorus. In my big rack I use the digitech nautila chorus. It's not a trichorus but an 8-voice chorus. I never heard a wider chorus than this pedal. I tried to add the eventide pitch (H9 max) in parallel (of course) but it doesn't get better. The nautila is enough.
    For the sake of transparency it's important to add the detune in parallel to the chorus. Otherwise it's too wooshi.

      @NikolausBrocke Thanks so much! Appreciate you taking the time to share all that! Yeah the Threeway is made by a friend of mine here in Nashville I met when looking for tri-stereo chorus pedals way back before the pandemic. I love the way it sounds as well!
      As far as the Inspire, I agree it’s amazing sounding and wish I had obtained one for the shootout for sure.
      And yeah in this demo which I used my home studio board for and in my own live rack I use for church, all my effects are run parallel to my dry signal and agree for clarity it’s the only way to go! I love not worrying about the output level of one impacting the input of the next more than anything and quite frankly just not a fan of my delay trails for instance having reverb on them - I just think it sounds cleaner but there’s always the case for reverb having modulation on it but my verbs typically allow you to add modulation if you want but that’s another entire rabbit hole 😂 .
      One thing I want to do in another video is show the choruses in the Eclipse since you mentioned the multi-voice chorusing because the Eclipse has amazing sounding multi-voice chorusing as well as the micro-pitch being WAY more lush than the one on the H9 or H90. For whatever reason it’s REALLY wide and thick and much more so than the others and I wish I had incorporated that into the last video but I was pressed for time as always. I also just got a used Dimension D pedal - the wazacraft Boss one so I’ll do something with that in a Huff centric way I’m sure.
      Anyway, thanks for all that info and appreciate your kind words and support my friend!
