Shocking decisions for penalties in that West Brom v Wolves game. The ref turned down two stonewall penalties and gave the one that wasn't a penalty. Some lovely football by that Palace team in Division 2 back then (now The Championship of course.)

Agreed. I also thought Wolves' two penalty claims were valid, and that WBA's penalty award for their equalizer was perhaps a shade contentious. Also, was David Cross perhaps offside, when he scored WBA's second? Just a pity maybe, that VAR didn't exist at this time!

Definitely two pennos that should have been given. WBA's penalty was rather soft, let's say.

QPR not quite the same attacking threat without Dave Thomas

team being dismantled by Sibley under orders from Gentleman Jim, sad to watch as a QPR fan

@@danabrahams7892 selling Thomas was possibly their worse decision (until they sold Parkes) because he produced so many assists. But very good news for Everton and Bob Latchford!

    Time for a little Kitwatch:
    - Those collars look a little high on QPR's shirts. I reckon Adidas had yet to get the hang of hoops
    - Good to see Man City's Crystal Palace tribute away kit, although I reckon they would have benefitted for wearing their usual red and black away kit
    - Talking of Palace, I would have thought they may have considered wearing their more famous home colours. I didn't think that would be a clash with Sheffield United's kit that day
    - A red goalkeeper's shirt? That point aside, West Brom and Wolves' kits are absolute class, most befitting for a Black Country derby.

Looks like Palace have borrowed Sheffield United’s away shirts & shorts, although have brought their away blue socks with them to avoid a clash with Sheffield United’s white home socks. My guess is that the referee thought there was a clash between Palace’s white shirts & the white stripes in Sheff Utds home shirt and requested a change.

@@edwardburek1717 something like that ! 😃 Although in this case more like the referee being ultra fussy!

City wore that style kit before Crystal Palace they used to call it the Continental kit in the early 70s and Malcolm Alison got them to wear it when he moved to Palace

And people say England used to have great refs. These are actually worse than the modern ones.

A bit unusual perhaps, WBA keeper Tony Godden wearing a red jersey. Also, I thought Wolves' two penalty claims were valid, and that WBA's penalty award for their equalizer was perhaps a shade contentious. Also, was David Cross perhaps offside when he scored WBA's second goal? Maybe a pity that VAR didn't exist at this time!
