When you say you trust in the Lord what do you really mean by that? Does it mean you trust him unto death or does it mean I trust him until I think he is no longer has my interest at heart?
Trust what he promises. Only way to know that is to read what he says. The church and sermons and cultural sayings aren't substitutes for his own words bc they take things amout of context and add/reduce meaning.
Start with new testiment books where Jesus speaks to people. Or James is a good book too- it's short and can stick in people's memory. Easily listened to in audio multiple times.
