There are things in life that I can't wrap my head around and one of them is 14 people giving this a thumbs down. This dude flat out NAILS this song, don't think I've seen anyone do it better. I've worked on this sucker myself, and while the guitar part is challenging, it's the vocal melody *over* that part that is the real bear...this isn't something you just pick up and do. Hands down great job, really enjoyed this.
Because of this gentlemen I’m expanding my repertoire. I gotta get my hands on a guitar again… I need to lose myself a bit and playing guitar helps so much with that.
@@stephanprenosil9676 Its the best cover that I have heard there may be others better but I haven't come across one yet. George Clements performance is very introspective even meditative, it flows over you like a warm gentle breeze.
When a guitar is played so well it sounds like a recorded studio produced song without any abrupt pauses or errors. This is one of, if not the most amazing cover of any song I've ever heard.
My dad just passed away two days ago. He gave the best music education I could ever receive. He played guitar for me, he opened my heart and soul to musicians like Simon and Garfunkel. I wish I could say thank you to him. This song means a lot to me, amazingly was uploaded on the day of my birthday, a present sent a year ago for my future me. This cover it's just perfect.
I think I prefer this to the original, i've listened to both hundreds of times. Simon's original recorded version, whilst raw and heartfelt and its own kind of wonder, is all over the place rhythmically. This is measured and full and complete and george's voice cuts incredibly in the mix.
Hey, let’s acknowledge the production. It’s just perfect, flawless. The guitar and voice miking are spot on. Even the lighting fits this calming performance. As one if your growing list if fans, I’m just blown away

@@shadeshadyshade254 ;and how do you know that...are you saying it isn’t possible with good mics and know how this isn’t possible. I’m not sure your correct but I don’t know.
I had just finished the Camino four years ago. I was walking through Santiago in the evening looking for a restaurant. It was a little windy and a little rainy. A street musician was passionately playing and singing this song. He was far away in his own world having a good time. I had not heard this song for 20 years. When I was a teenager I used to listen to a Simon & Garfunkel Greatest hits album with this song on it. Watching and listening to that street musician for a couple of minutes, was a deep and spiritual experience. The next couple of days I must have listened to this song at least a hundred times.
😅Loved this song when I first heard it on the Paul Simon Song Book back in the late sixties. I used to play along with it in my cabin when I was a cadet in the merchant navy. This is an excellent cover. Voice and guitar do it justice.
Hi George, I'm an elderly British Singer-guitarist. I don't know why this video came into my "feed" but I'm so glad it did. I know this song of course amnd most of the other covers that you've done. To me a song, whoever has written it, is about the performer, and you have the talent to tell a story that compels the listener to listen and hear every word. You finger picking style on the delightful L2 (?) id also blissful. I have subscribed and will watch/listen/feel all your videos. Thank you, and please make more!
Sir, you have a lovely voice and can clearly play the guitar well. When I listen to you I wish I could have that much talent to perform such music, alas I can only sit and listen and appreciate those who do. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Man, the way you sing this song and play it is like the worlds best anxiety medication. So calming. So soothing. You’re so in the pocket while you play. It’s intoxicating.
Your voice is awesome, it sounds like a blend of Paul Simon and James Taylor, and your playing is impeccable!!! Best wishes to you and your channel, you made a subscriber out of me!
In my humble opinion, and with no disrespect to Paul Simon, I think that George Clement cover is on of the very best I have ever heard. Well done George
10 years ago I left a comment on the version done by Simon and Garfunkel...that comment remains the number one comment to this day...My twin sister and I played this song in the hospice for my dying Father and when we were finished he took his last breaths...our whole family was there.....although our vocals are great, neither of us could play it like this guy does...it is flawless...a beautiful way to make an exit...well done

Loved this song since I first heard it back in the sixties. I was falling in love with my now wife and my emotions were on a high, then along came this beautiful song. This is a really really good cover. Thank you.

How many UA-cam music videos do you listen to and then, unimpressed, you move on to the next. This one stopped me in my tracks. Flawless guitar and a wonderful, soothing voice that made me search for more of his talent. Wow!!!
There are many covers out there of this song, but yours is the best I've heard. You've captured the intimacy of this song perfectly, while still keeping your own voice.
I have always been taken by this song since the 60s. I finally found my Cathy, so this song means all that much more to me. I've been trying to work it out on the guitar. You make it look so easy. Beautiful cover my friend!!!
The people who gave this a thumbs down are OBVIOUSLY young people. They DON'T HAVE A CLUE about music.....What it is that makes it special or how REAL artists actually made music. Sad for them
Just sixty years later. Way to reach into the songbook. I like listening to this as much as hearing Art’s silky voice right after unwrapping the just-released LP. I think we’ll be alright with troubadours like this young man. Thank you, George.

The best cover I ever heard of Paul Simon. You need a voice like yours to nail this song. In don't like covers with complete other versions. You need a lot of singing talent to do this perfectly in timing as Paul does in the original. I'm gonna follow you now. In wanna hear more from your repertoire.
An amazing cover indeed. But the one of Eva Cassidy is equally good. If not better. As always: a personal preference. One thing is sure though: music of this quality is no longer around. Man, how lucky we were to live in the sixties, seventies and eighties. We were already in the musical paradise. And didn’t realise it.

Same with my Dad. He would play me to sleep when I was younger. It got me interested in music. Now he's not doing to good. Time is cruel.
Paul Simon would definitely approve, beautifully done

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls
And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies
My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day
And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I
Awesome!
