      It was funny during From Now On that the camera went to Miku every time Kanami should be featured. Like the camera man got it backwards as to who was on lead.

      This will help them grow in the US and in Japan and while you might think they are already big, they aren't in the grandscheme of things.
      I like them a lot, but they are a niche band from a country most people in the West don't care about and even in Japan they are a niche band.
      Yes, they can headline shows all around the world (they have plenty of fans to do that), but you just can't ignore showing yourself to a new potential audience that is actually interested in watching Japanese musicians while opening for Japanese music legends. I personally don't like the little pieces of music I have heard by The Last Rockstars (and I didn't watch their set), but I honestly think we as Band-Maid fans should be grateful that they inadvertently decided to bring Band-Maid to the US. This clearly wasn't planned and was a last minute decision. So this set was not really meant for us, it was meant to make more people aware that they exist and what kind of music they play.
      Sets like this and the festival tour they are going to do in the US is good exposure for new potential fans. That arena with a capacity of 17000 people isn't going to fill itself.

      They obviously rent their equipment (minus the guitars and bass) on the road. Most bands do this as it doesn't make sense to haul all that stuff across the world.
      So if they couldn't find an Orange amp, she had to take what she could get. Saki of Nemophila also didn't play a Marshall amp in the US, but used a Kemper because it was easier to get or it was what the gig (the Whisky a go go) offered or something. She prepared for it in Japan by testing out Hazuki's Kemper. I believe they made a video about it or something, I can't remember where I saw that.
      Drummers generally also play a rented set and just bring their cymbals, maybe their snare and their drumheads (at least the branded bassdrumhead) and obviously sticks. Flying with a full drumkit and amps is only for the very wealthy bands and it has the risk of them breaking.
      Edit:
      This is a video by Austrian metal drummer Krimh where he explains what he brings on tour:
      ua-cam.com/video/og07FNBnXbc/v-deo.html
      This is obviously different for each drummer and he is an extreme metal drummer, but you can guarantee that most of this stuff is common for most drummers that tour.

      @@ChrisWMF He's right though - when they tour outside of Japan, they always use rented amps. Most of the time it's ok, but sometimes there's failures, like at the second NYC show. So, having such a small solidstate backup amp ready is a good idea. Miku is making her sound from her Helix pedalboard, so all she need is a good clean amp, and that's what this little Orange device is.

  • @BillnYou1
    @BillnYou1 Рік тому +2

    The biggest problem with Band=Maid's stage show is the sound mix... always has been. Arkane's lead guitar is never loud enough, always lost in the mix. If you know music and most practicing/working musicians know having 2 guitars with the same kind of pickups turns into a muddy mees where you can't distinguish the difference. Here as always they have 2 humbucker guitars and the lead player even during solos doesnt stand out at all .. she needs to crank that shit up or buy herself a damn Stratocaster. Anytime you have 2 guitarists in a band you should always have one player with single-coil p-ups and one with humbuckers .. the sound mix is 10000% better for both players. I love Band-Maid been a fan from the beginning and have always wished they would get this right, she is a great lead player but the sound mix is fucking her .. and that sucks.

    • @kyles5513
      @kyles5513 Рік тому +1

      I agree Kanami's guitar is low a lot of the time, their USA tour was actually mixed really well and so was the Tokyo garden show. And combining two guitars with humbuckers or one humbucker and one single coil doesn't matter, it's the tone and amp set up between the two that matter and if you listen between Kanami and Miku they have very different guitar tones and together they make band maids sound. This show on the other hand is a terrible example of that.

    • @BillnYou1
      @BillnYou1 Рік тому +1

      @@kyles5513 Glad to hear the mix was good when you saw them, they are a great band .. with well orchestrated parts. As for the guitars I would disagree with you on that always, it's really not that big of a deal with a good mix, but with a bad mix it really gets muddy. I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old. and I'm 61 now, played and sang in all kinds of bands, you learn those things from experience playing loud rock n roll for a lifetime, although it really didn't take long to figure that out. As a lead vocalist only in my early years it didn't take long to see/Hear the sound difference is much higher quality if the guitars aren't sharing the same p'ups. Usually all it takes is the suggestion, people try it and immediately agree the whole band sounds better. To me it's elementary. Especially in the studio .. Certain types of music of course it wouldn't matter. Anyway .. food for thought brother .. take care

    • @kyles5513
      @kyles5513 Рік тому +1

      @@BillnYou1 well you have the experience over me, I've only been plying since 13 and I'm 35. I do agree with you on combining single and hums with 2 guitars to make the tone more contrast between the two, but I just don't think a single coil tone will work with Band-Maids sound, at least for most of their songs. But if they're both humbuckers but different types and you mess around with both amps you can achieve a great tone that doesn't just sound like the same guitar but through two amps. If that makes any sense. Again, I'm not as experienced as you are.

    • @BillnYou1
      @BillnYou1 Рік тому

      @@kyles5513 Hi Kyle .. yeah it is amazing what you can do with amps nowadays. One thing has always been true, you can make a Fender SSS sound like a Gibson HH but you can't make a double humbucker > HH guitar sound like a Fender, until they came out with coil split. Still that won't make a Gibson or any HH guitar sound like a Fender. Fender's with a SSH configuration are also a great setup with the humbucker in it. The Strat is the most versatile guitar and the most rewarding to play, you can get a million more tones out of them. I love Band-Maid they well orchestrate everything they do, like LoveBites another group of amazing female musicians .. with Midori and Miyako on guitars. As far as Band Maids sound not working with single coils can't agree bro, in fact they would sound better with Fender guitars. Go back to Deep Purple/Blackmore.. Hendrix even Jimmy Page played recorded most of his greatest stuff in the studio with a Telecaster and an old Supro amp and 9 out of 10 people would swear its a Les Paul ... see what I mean? Anyway, there are so many ways to get great sounds these day it's all a matter of taste, but most great players like it raw .. stripped down with minimal effects. Like a Marshall on it's own is a sound that can't be beat for hard rock and metal much like Fender amps are suited for blues and country and rock too.There is another band of females I love form South Korea, called Rolling Quartz, if you haven't heard them check it out.. they are badass took me a while to get past the colored hair and colored contact lenses but they are so good this song is called Azalea ... ua-cam.com/video/EVbR7F2YgNQ/v-deo.html have a good one bro tc.
