They do have the rights actually, They just have no current plans to cover New Vegas, there focusing on Fallout 4 and Fallout 3. The East Coast. Though they have made a Frank Horrigan miniature from Fallout 2.
Dogmeat did this on my play through of that tutorial scenario as well. The last super mutant slide around Nora, engaging Domeat as well. The mutie critically failed shooting dogmeat point blank with a pipe rifle. This seemed to really piss off Dogmeat, because he literally bit the offender's hand off. It died with a stunned, childlike expression on it face.
I LOVE how narrative this game is. Looting, events, the flavor, the different modes. I run Fallout RPG now and combine it with this skirmish game for encouters. It's bonkers good.

You made this look like an exciting and very evocative game. Maybe a little complicated to start with for those of us who play the more popular systems, but it seems to become more instinctive as you get into it. Thanks for the look see.
Seems like the tokens are mostly for the sake of new players to gain a sense of what is going on. Once you get more familiar with the game, you can probably play without many of the tokens.
idk I think its helpful to just keep track of what has moved already and hp and things like that. Then again this is my first second wargame so manybe other games found better ways to keep track. Battletech has this huge sheets.
The Survivor +1 to armor is a damage reduction that just happens, even if you fail the roll, from what I understand from the rules, and then it goes away.
Honestly I feel the tokens are a bit too small. The custom dice and use of only tokens is just... well I went 'ugh, why!?' at first cause it feels way to much like a FFG than anything else. I mean at least FFG would have included some form of dial and more substantial/simplified tokens. The range variation feels like it could have been simplified. And why they didn't include them in Measuring gauge form I have no idea. (Color the edges based on band color. And on corners have it 'mitered'.) Ultimately I like the thought of the game and its customizability but I think I will wait to see how it develops a bit before investing in it. (Now if only I could get all the rules components to use with my own miniatures.)
Solo mode nearly pulled me in, but the sheer number of tokens plus the quite high prices mean this is a miss for me, great Batrep though, keep up the good work !
To be fair; Ive never played Fallout in any form, but after watching, I tend to agree, it just seems "over complicated". Brings to mind B5 Fleet Action, fun BUT, it 'literally' used every dice from D4 - D20 for wpn dmg. And like FFG's Armada, "cool game' but just 'too many tokens/cards'. That starts crossing the line from Gaming.. to Work. Qk Armada note; one group solved that by making the house rule, "One upgrade per ship". And Im w/ you Ash, "whats with the constant change in game scale?" The "Buy Me" rule? Wondering, in 10 yrs(?), will the 'standard' go full circle, back to the old school 54's.
Given that 3D printers exist I think charging uber money for small numbers of figures is a big mistake.... people will a few tenners for each rule book or expansion but not generally 500 quid for a small selection of figure groups
He can, however, with the right special die roll and if he is heroic have the chance to: 1.remove a reaction 2.gain an action point 3. Injure arm(which induces a -2 modifier to all skill values.) Also keep in mind any model engaged in close combat (base to base contact) range who tries to withdraw, or leave, close combat is eligible to suffer an opportunity attack (giving the model that the enemy is breaking engagement with a free, immediate quick action attack on the leaving model, as long as they themselves are not engaged with any other model).
@@mrgreen4290 neat, I guess that is all pretty cool, all I've seen of the game so far is this play through. So, no one can fire into melee? I feel like super mutants who have kamikazes in their ranks wouldn't think twice about opening up with a chain gun while their mutant dog was chomping someone.
drewish75 You can fire into melee. In fact you get a bonus to hit as it’s a bigger target; however, if you hit the melee, who actually gets hit is random.
Would love to see the California rangers pop up. I think for me, I don't want characters from fo4... I Would rather have generic models / characters... like a real ragtag group of survivors. The campaign idea sounds really appealing
I want to love this game because I love fallout and I love the miniatures but this game ticks off all of the things I hate in miniature games. It is incredibly overly complicated, token heavy, and requires custom dice. I will probably just end up picking up the miniatures and using them for my Fallout RPG.
My local board game / miniature store doesn't have the main game box in stock right now but they have some of the miniature packs for this game so I thought why not use the minis for Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse? Unfortunately I suck at painting so this should be interesting XD
I'm not convinced on the game, looks needlessly overcomplicated, and like it breaks conventions for no reason. Models are good but expensive, but think I may stick with this is not a test....
Me too. Already got.around a hundred painted miniatures for 4 warbands and I was one of the Kickstarter backers for TNT. I love the models for FWW but the high price and complication puts me off.
I think the complication comes from trying to make it thematical. When we got a go at it (as massive fallout fans)we thought it was fun but didn't entirely get the hang of it. it feels like they both really wanted to include as much as they could From the fallout theme and make it different from other games. The whole thing rings of a fantasy flight game with rules written by gw. I would say give it a shot at a local gaming store before you write it off
It really depends on how familiar you are with the original 2 games. This game feels like a direct translation of the turn based combat from the original top down games. I think it captures that feel *perfectly*
Well I've played and beaten all of the fallout games, including brotherhood of steel (oh the shame!) To me it feels complicated for no reason, at its core the basic fallout game was quite simple, certainly in comparison to wasteland warfare.
Ahh Brotherhood of Steel. Well, I'll be honest I'm more of a table top RPG player than a game like this - I also have worked on designing a few games. I came to this video strictly for the Fallout love more than anything. When I was watching them play it felt intuitive to me because of the way the terrain worked, the ranges were color coded, the numbers they had to roll (under their stats) to get hits or defend, etc I guess it could be that the targets in this game are reversed from most games. Generally, you have to meet or exceed a target number to succeed - in this game you want to roll as low as possible, and if there are other factors like distance and cover, that target number gets lower and even harder to reach. The tokens that I saw seemed okay, especially the reaction tokens which meant you could essentially stay on alert and if anyone came into your range you could get a 'free' attack when it wasn't your turn. That's what I got out of it and I was pretty excited. What I don't like about this game is mostly that the PVC miniatures seem to be fairly low quality, and if you get the resin boxed set with better minis, it doesn't even come with the Deathclaw and you have to actually buy that separately on top of the already more expensive box. That is borderline bait and switch in my opinion.
correct me if im wrong but it seems that most of the token use comes from scenario and narrative play... not the straight up basic combat play. which is a good idea it would appeal to all play types.
When Sledgehammer mutant charged, should have done a battle cry THEN you would get both G & B dice IF successful...otherwise its G OR B die not both...right?
Just a quick discrepancy when charging u can't use both green and black dice it has to be one or the other. Good vid tho helped me understand the quick action
I was looking for AI miniature driven games and I stumbled with this. It looks interesting, but I don´t like the use of tokens. At least X-Wing and Armada from FFG makes sense in the use of tokens, maybe because those games are half miniature and half board games in nature. Since I play many other tabletop games and this is for solo gaming, I will give it a try.
Jack Briggs-Miller. I thought this too at first. Because the brute is Str 8 he automatically gains an extra black die to his role, plus the charge bonus (in this case a green die) thus an extra black and green die. Took me a while to get that one, and was confusing the way it was said.
I know as a business model proprietary accessories like dice and measuring sticks help create a gaming culture but they also alienate the casual gamer. I think this model needs to change before it can become a success on its own. Is this a cash in or a creation?
I'm sure this was pointed out at the time, but y'all made a few rules mistakes during this demo including how armor works ( in a sense 1 + 1 does not equal 2 at least in terms of armor reduction effects ), and Dog Meat's special abilities ( he does not blind targets. He removes reaction markers ). It would be nice if you went in and edited in some text clarifying these errors. P.S. If I'M the one misunderstanding these rules, then I sincerely apologize, and you should delete my comment so I'M not the one confusing new players.
I *think* that every time you hit with a weapon you also get a critical marker, but the rulebook wording is pretty weird on that, e.g. oddly specific, so I'm not 100% sure on that one. Probably quite important though if this is true, since you when you use the crit tokens to activate a crit, it hits automatically. So racking up those tokens faster will make combat even more deadly! Love the activation system though, and the effect dice once you get the hang of them.
you're absolutely right there, heroic characters earn a crit token for every successful hit they make with a weapon, even if it doesn't do any damage - very useful for charging the crit metre, as i learned to my cost in my first game where my friend hit e several times with his laser rifle wielding Paladin Danse!
If you happen to roll the critical symbol on the skill dye you also get an additional critical meter charge. But you cannot stack crit charges past the maximum allowed on the weapon card ex: The laser musket takes three critical charges to fire a critical hit. Therefore, you cannot charge past 3. You can only begin to acquire critical charges once you've used the charges you have after you've acquired maximum charge.
Also, weapons can only generate critical charges if your model is heroic or has a critical icon. If a model isn't heroic, then you tuck the critical portion of the weapon card under the model stat card.
Fuck man. I only played hero quest when I was a kid. This game is the fucking balls man. I wish I actually had people to play with. But you can play by yourself too? That's pretty fucking awesome. Altho I'm sure it's more lame than playing actual people
I think by luck it was mostly done correctly - you get an extra black or green die when you charge, but only in one place in the rules does it say that you choose, and everywhere it implies that the unit card or weapon card will tell you which you get. Only if you do a Battle Cry do you get both a green AND a black die on the charge. So on the charge attacks at least you can say that the green die was chosen, and the black die came from the Super Mutant's high strength :)
@@DarkDanegan just remember, you only get the extra black damage dye if the model has: 1. Seven or more strength. 2. Uses a melee weapon in close combat.
Descent/Imperial Assault is more of a dungeon crawl with story and missions and skirmish, It has maps and is considered a board game but has skirmish and can be modified to play with terrain. Similar to this but typically 100x more streamlined with each new instance (Descent < Imperial Assault < Fallout) and cheaper. To be clear there are no announcements this will happen I just hope they do, this one is even hard to watch for me I couldn't even imagine trying to play it.
Still waiting for my stuff...do you know when they're sending out the minis? Enjoyable video! I really like your high energy, how much coffee does it require? ;)
Morphideus is setting themselves up for pirated miniatures. They're starving the market of fan favourate mini's.. Splitting up key groups weirdly to spread spending as wide as possible and overcharging to obscene levels for what are decent but far from excellent sculpts. Had I access to a 3d printer, I would have zero guilt in producing my minis for this.
"BUY ME Rule" comes to mind. It keeps us from using any of the 'countless' mini's we already own & would work with the game. But this way, they wont 'fit' in (look right). SW Legion, also comes to mind.
This feels like they were challenged to make everything as over complicated as possible, change everything that could be a number into a colour, symbol, dice.... bloody hell.
I love the miniatures, but that is the WORST flippin game play. Tokens all over, multi piece range markers, effect/modifiers, not just one stat card but several per model. That's redonk. If I wanted that much complexity in a skirmish/wargame I would go back to OG Battle Tech, which despite the tiny printing over crowd stat sheets, was actually more simple than this.
What this guy said ^--- Most of them are status markers which you can remember quite easily once you play since the gameplay is fast youre not likely to forget much after a few games to familiarise yourself with it.
the game is awesome, i got my two player stater, i am new to the table top scene so i have some way to go, if anyone is in los angles or a suburb of, i'm looking for people to play with or against. hit me up!
I'm getting mine today to play with the hubby and were both new to tabletop games (Also I only know a lot about fallout). Did it take long to get past the learning curve?
@@lizzylulu1309 yeah it does, i was in the same boat when i started, i knew fallout but new to table top. After several videos and reading the book several times, i was able to understand whats going on enough to play while keeping the rules book close. Its not super complicated just there is alot of information to get through. If you have any questions ill help best i can.
I actually just found out about this game today, and I was a bit confused, do you need to paint the pieces or do they come like what's seen in the video?
@@theburritodaddy9384 yes, you do have to paint the figures your self. The figures come off the line and right into the box, this also means that you have a little clean up to do as well as fixing the figures, typically this means some hot-ish water so re-form the figure if it comes and bit bent. And some super glue to put the pieces together. It sounds like a mission but its not all that bad once in the trenches.
it's hard to describe how much I hate games with so many non-standard tools - different colored dice, exclusive rulers, etc. - all it does is make the game more bloated and less compatible with others - I am yet to see a game where different colored dice had an actual reason to be there, instead of just being another way to sell accessories.

Only if you do a Battle Cry do you get both a green AND a black die on the charge. So on the charge attacks at least you can say that the green die was chosen, and the black die came from the Super Mutant's high strength :)
Correct. An extra black die on top of everything else for being over strength 7.
@@DarkDanegan just remember, you only get the extra black damage dye if the model has:
1. Seven or more strength.
2. Uses a melee weapon in close combat.

Action: Close Combat
It is 32mm, but it dose not look like it.
Question: Can u attack after u
charge if it is the 2nd action?

Still hoping FFG does a Descent style Fallout game
Descent/Imperial Assault is more of a dungeon crawl with story and missions and skirmish, It has maps and is considered a board game but has skirmish and can be modified to play with terrain. Similar to this but typically 100x more streamlined with each new instance (Descent < Imperial Assault < Fallout) and cheaper. To be clear there are no announcements this will happen I just hope they do, this one is even hard to watch for me I couldn't even imagine trying to play it.
I really enjoyed this video, sold me on this game.
These rules look needlessly complex. I love Fallout but this seems like they are trying to rein ent the wheel with 9 million types of dice...
This seems very complicated :/ but fun.
Awesome, can't wait to watch.
Wow. These videos are so much easier to watch on .75 speed
Rules start at 5:40
Does the game have more abilities or is it I shoot miss, you shoot miss,I shoot got em.
Looks fun cannot wait to get my copy. How was the warping on the pvc?
No issues really. Nothing you can’t straighten in a little water.
Hello, I was wondering if you could give me the recipe for that suit of power armor. I think it looks great.
17min in and that white dice has not rolled anything but 10 or Crit fail - is it a bit unbalanced? :D
They were definitely unlucky. The skill dice has 3 X's (definite fails) and has 5 1's.
Love it! Great work! :)
Trying to find the right terrain for this game.
Check out Blacksite Studio!
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames thank you man! that will be a big help.
Lone Survivor?
Why did it have to be 32mm!
"BUY ME Rule" comes to mind.
It keeps us from using any of the 'countless' mini's we already own & would work with the game. But this way, they wont 'fit' in (look right). SW Legion, also comes to mind.
Where is the scatter terrain from?
Ngl this stuff leaves me confused. Might just use this games minis as player or npc minis for my games
Where do you get your scenery from?
This feels like they were challenged to make everything as over complicated as possible, change everything that could be a number into a colour, symbol, dice.... bloody hell.
so its like dungeons and dragons from the 80
Only more complicated.
I love the miniatures, but that is the WORST flippin game play. Tokens all over, multi piece range markers, effect/modifiers, not just one stat card but several per model. That's redonk. If I wanted that much complexity in a skirmish/wargame I would go back to OG Battle Tech, which despite the tiny printing over crowd stat sheets, was actually more simple than this.
trust me, once you get the hang of the game or if you have any experience with tabletop games at all 90% of the tokens wont be taken out of the box.
What this guy said ^---
Most of them are status markers which you can remember quite easily once you play since the gameplay is fast youre not likely to forget much after a few games to familiarise yourself with it.
Yeah, most tokens are to remember stuff
Lost me with Battletech and complex.
uuu Fallot. Interesting! I love Fallout.
Where do you get your terrain?
Is the game that much swooshy (missing a lot) or you just were especially unlucky to roll a lot of x and miss?
Did you dip all your miniatures in jet black ink?!
Are the mini's pre painted?
Nope!
Lovely models, but immediately turned off by all those fiddley tokens and overly complicated dice.
dice confuse you, don't they?
does it come prepainted?
No sir
dammit I was really hoping since I suck at painting
Yuss! Fallout!
the game is awesome, i got my two player stater, i am new to the table top scene so i have some way to go, if anyone is in los angles or a suburb of, i'm looking for people to play with or against.
