I remember the tv news of this when it happened and feeling kind of mad that they would film this girl . . and yet, then being thankful that I saw her face while she was alive. True tragedy. Hug your loved ones every day.
I kinda feel the same, when I was preparing this video there were lots of videos of her saying bye to her mom, for me it was so sad to watch those videos.

I remember some websites which have the banner ads at the bottom showed an image of the girl who was trapped in the water. What a tragedy for all the lives lost.

It's great that the area is being maintained as a garden. There must be many people who work to keep it that way. It's also amazing that the trees have grown so big in such a short time. Armero was a very prosperous farming community because the soil was so rich. Makes sense there were so many banks for such a small rural town. The history (and warnings of an imminent one) of previous mudslides was repressed because wealthy elites did not want to alarm people and cause property values to fall.
I encourage everyone to search this topic. There are some excellent documentaries about this tragedy.

Buen dia mahia. Oh my God, I had forgotten about this tragedy but now i remember that trapped girl vividly.
She was all over the news for a long time, people still showing her respect and bring gives every single day, her grave is very colorful with lots of toys

You parked in a good/safe spot, not too close to the driveway, this way you avoid getting your car hit from other vehicles turning into that driveway. You have to always be thinking of what can possibly happen and setup your car to avoid problems. Remember, I know how americans and colombians drive and park.
I try to be very careful with the parking spots because that road is very busy

This is sad but very interesting. I'd love to know and see more about Colombia's independence. A relative of mine fought in the British Army, The British Legion (Legion Brittanca) that helped Colombia regain its independence. I think you have memorials for the soldiers there. My relative fought in the mountains near Bogota I believe.

Yes! I wanted to go for the anniversary but it was impossible for me to go. My tour guide told me hundreds of people went that day

Hi Mahia, thanks for sharing this tragic history and honoring the memories of all the people who died in this disaster. Animals usually get spooked if and when a they sense a natural disaster coming. Did that happen in this case?
I’m also curious to know if there was ever an official statement from the government about the over 3000 missing children or are those children assumed to be dead? I hope the kids were not stolen and smuggled out of the country. I hope the investigation continues and the truth comes out eventually
A foundation was created to look for the missing children, and to reunite them with their relatives in fact many relatives of the missing children said they saw them alive after the disaster but they didn’t were deliver to their families (ilegal adoptions they said)
