And my vision is NOT GOOD! but many years of practice have helped me to be able to do that. thank you so much. I do see the world in terms of simple shapes, which translates to collage!
I love this! Chickadees are my favorite bird 🐦 and I recently printed some inspiration chickadees. The timing is perfect. Thanks for a wonderful video!
LOVE, LOVE!!!! From the first time I saw your work in Asheville, I have been a fan!!! So inspirational and has just sparked my heart with creativity!! I have started using collage techniques in a more fine art painterly way as well and people are shocked when they get closer and see that it is collage and not brush strokes!! I have the most interesting discussions around my collage pieces. The more I do, the more I start thinking I may give up on other mediums and just focus on collage....we'll see!! Thank you for just being you!!!
I was about to start the collage process but was totally off base on how to do it. This video was super helpful and very well done. I learned so much. Thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I try to keep the videos around 20 minutes for UA-cam. But when I put them in my Patreon page I split them into multi part and go through the entire process step-by-step!
Elizabeth, I am so excited to meet you. I am coming from Kansas City MO to your White Bear class in a couple of weeks. I love this process. It satisfies something within me to work with little bits. It reminds me a little of working jigsaw puzzles. I grew up doing that with my mom. Again very excited to learn more. The texture and dimensions created are beyond paints ability. See you soon!
Love it! Part of me wants to do this and another part doesn't want to deal with the fiddlyness of it. I'll definitely try some collage like this though; I definitely have gel prints I can use. I'm glad I finally found this video. I actually looked in about a month or so ago for this type of collage for a collab I was preparing for. I didn't find it then, but I'm thankful I found it now. Thanks for sharing!

@@ElizabethStHilaire at least now, you don’t have to deal with the winters In Massachusetts, yet you still get to have the chickadee with you. Thanks again for all share and teach us.
I'm totally blown away by the incredibly tiny pieces of paper you use in this collage. I've read that each piece of paper is a brush stroke. Do you use larger pieces of paper in larger designs, like portraits and landscapes? Or do all subjects require such tiny pieces? I seriously want to get beyond just making the patterned gel prints, but I can't decide between a Patreon membership and a live workshop (maybe Wisconsin?) which would also be a vacation. 😮
I use very small pieces for all subjects. The brush marks are the same variety of sizes regardless of subject. In-person workshop, if you can do it, offers great feedback from me in the moment and hands on. Patreon is continual tutorials every week that you can always watch again.
I just had to let you know that I have a LOT of your stencils. And somehow I missed the peacock doodle stencil. I saw you use it recently and had to have it. It arrived a few days ago and I am in love with it. I've been gelli printing nonstop. :)
Wow I love this. You must have the patience of a saint! I'm just wondering though if you use the sturdier rice paper that you use in your printing videos? You don't seem to mention it here, and in the printing videos talk about it not tearing......
It doesn’t tear or stick on the gel plate! Yes this is that paper plus other papers. I love that rice paper for collage especially, it tears easily for collage.
I’ve been enjoying the gel print process and am just starting to do some paper collage. I have the glue, but I’ve found that the brushes I currently have aren’t suitable, so I intend to order the kind you’re using here from your link. Couple of questions: Do you use anything other than water to clean the gel medium off of them (during soaking or afterward)? Does the gel medium come out completely? Thanks SO much for keeping us inspired! I have learned a ton, and I hope to be able to attend one of your in-person workshops one of these days.
The eye, my Goddess! I love how you can see the world in bits and pieces!

How long have you been doing this?
20 years? Maybe. I’ve lost track. LOL I have a degree in art.
Emulating Frida. So lovely!!
Do you leave the gloss gel jar open and dip your brush in? If so how do you keep it from drying out?
💕🐝
Yes, I leave the jar open, it does not dry out. :-)

I clean all my brushes with the masters brush cleaner what you can find on my Amazon shop! It’s the best
@@ElizabethStHilaire Thanks so much! I’ll take a look for it.
Great tutorial Elizabeth. Could I ask why you prefer the gloss gel medium to the matte?
Matte products have matting agents suspended in them that make them dull back the intensity of your colors. Only gloss is completely optically clear.
That white paper looks like mulberry paper.
Mulberry paper is sort of a generic term. I did find a link for the paper, it is in the description box below the video! Thank you Deb
Amazing!
Thanks so much, I appreciate it Mary Ellen
