It's hard to believe the consistency of backstage with millionaires 😳 You guys are uploading daily, earlier it was one or two a week. I am liking this change 😁❤
I just put a like everytime i watch your video... Even manytimes when i can't watch thought full video still I put like... Thank you for all your videos
Bengaluru is a global village, people not only from India but also from different part of the world come to work and call this place home... But the fact is never be forgotten that, Although people from different parts come here, the sole credit for making Bengaluru startup capital does not go to them. But to the people of Karnataka who were so welcoming and with a open mind accepted the changes and made Bengaluru what it is today. . . Kudos to backstage for this video. Need part-3 😂
Thank you for the thoughtful response Hitesh! You're absolutely right, Bengaluru would not be the city it is today without local Bengalurians. Any ideas on things to highlight for a potential Part 3? 🙂 -Caleb
Startups ahead of time. My wife used to work in Baroda based fintech start up CSAM established in early 2000 they had developed payment solutions on sms which could be run on nokia phones. Unfortunately none of the Indian banks showed any interest. By 2015 CSAM was sold to MasterCard
Amazing video as usual! Brilliant editing and story telling. Keep up the good work BWM Team! When you mentioned about the Y2K Yesterday in the call, I barely remember the conversation I had with my dad when I was a kid. He explained to me the problem and what Y2K actually means. I miss him a lot. This video brought so much memories. So much has happened in the startup ecosystem for what we are today. It's wild to think that what could happen in the next 10 years, 20 years down the line! I also remember Junglee website and the first time Amazon had their .in website. It was crazy at those times. I guess this is where " How Bengaluru Became India’s Silicon Valley" ends here. The next part has to be, "How Bengaluru Became India’s one of the top Startup hub". 😂
Haha I guess you're right about the video title Karthik - the next episode probably shouldn't be *How Bengaluru Became India’s Silicon Valley* but rather *How Bengaluru Became One of the Top Startup Hubs in the World.* Currently, according to StartupBlink, it's ranked at #10 globally. The other cities (from 9th to 1st) are San Francisco Bay, New York, Beijing, LA, London, Boston, Shanghai, Tel Aviv Area, and Moscow. As access to venture capital increases too, I'm sure that ranking will go up, although city infrastructure/the perks of highly developed countries that Indian cities currently don't enjoy, may end up holding Bengaluru back from entering the Top 5 for a long time yet. But anyways, as you said in your comment, things have progressed so much in the last 10-20 years, that I'm sure another decade or two will bring absolutely incredible advancements. India will look back on the early '20s the same way it does the turn of the century, when e-commerce didn't exist, the internet was still a new thing (and extremely slow, too), the term *startup* was unknown and $1B in venture capital seemed like a pipe dream. Indians will reminisce about the years when India had less than 100 unicorns, when Indian startups were still predominately only known by Indian consumers (we are already beginning to see that change), when the startup ecosystem was raising less than $100B annually. So much is coming this decade 🙂 and in decades to come. Can't wait. -Caleb
Thank you for making this kind of knowledge full video...we know what India is today but we didn't know what it is in 90s and early 2000..We read about India success daily but we didn't know how it started..You changing our mind and encouraging indians to Fly..Thank you once again and keep going. This kind of knowledge is very less and you promoting this and spreading awareness about we also contributed in superfast journey of computers to metaverse..🙏. This kind of content easily not go on trending but keep going.I promise I will loyal to u.
Thanks Vinit! 🙂 We weren't sure if we were spending too much time on the Y2K/COBOL topic, but I'm glad you enjoyed it and thought it added to the video! -Caleb
Amazing research! I got to know so much from this series. I used think many startups we take for granted now are actually older than I knew and have done a lot of work over the years to reach where they are now. The newer ones comparetively have it easier in raising capital. Can you make a part 3 of the journey from 2008 onwards? I am sure I'll still learn about something I might have missed. I have not seen this information anywhere about what happened that spurred growth after the Y2K. Keep up team BwM!
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement Rishi, so glad you found the video informative and interesting to watch. No promises on a Part 3 (performance on this Part 2 has been poor so far, so please share it around!), but we'd love to do it at some point if/when it makes sense to 🙂 -Caleb
Amazing! I know it takes loads of editing and time for producing such high quality videos but if possible more of such content would be very appreciated🙏 Thanks caleb and the team.
0:54 this screen was quite much familiar to me. After all, hooked up with dial up in '94 along with windows 3.1, opened up my very first Yahoo/Hotmail mail accounts in '95 (even to this day I use these), etc etc and I was born in '79 in Calcutta, WB. jejejeje
Super fascinating to know how Indians played a significant role in preventing the World from such major crises right at the start of the new century. Y2K and Dotcom Bubble could’ve resulted in huge losses if they wouldn’t have been taken care of.
Depends on how the video performs Kaneki 🙂 please share it around on Reddit, Quora, WhatsApp, Twitter, or any other platforms where you think people would appreciate it! -Caleb
@@backstagewithmillionaires The timeline of how the startup ecosystem got matured after the funding boom of 2015 and the subsequent layoffs and downfall
Hi Savita, thank you so much! 🙂 Sadly, the performance on the Foodlet/Foodiebay videos was so poor that we can't really justify making a Part 3 until/unless the performance improves. For whatever reason, the videos just didn't seem to connect with a large audience in the way that we were hoping. A month on the script, multiple weeks on the editing, for less than 20k views total just isn't enough to justify a third part unfortunately 😓 but let's see. I'll be changing the thumbnails and possibly titles this week in the hopes of boosting performance. -Caleb
India is an agriculture based economy and we lead a sustainable and compassionate lifestyle but in 1990 things changed and led to degrade of quality of life not just here but throught the world .
Brother backstage millionaire, you have only spoken about the startup Eco system , you have to speak about its people the prominence of Bangalore are from all over the country from India , the smartest people come there it was one of the most classiest set of people and a very western and education 1st minded middle class and society , and also Bangalore will be the fastest growing city for another 20 years it has the talent pool the hip culture you have to make part 3 and part 4 , these videos with the right kind of social reach will be acknowledged by Bangaloreans there is so much more different than any other Indian city or state
Yep, we're taking our time with this series Yash 🙂 so much has happened since the '90s, and we're looking forward to sharing the rest of the story. -Caleb

Would be great indeed if they make a part 3 😃
we take this startup ecosystem and VCs so lightly where all of this took so much time and hard work to reach this level
kudos
It took me 2 Months to gather this data when i first started my CRE journey, your research team did a fab Job.
