The new phone is so bright, that the Whatsapp app on the old phone couldn't take a picture of the QR code, so I had to take a screenshot of the QR code, go to my pictures and use that for scanning it, then I quickly went back to Whatsapp, so I could accept the transfer.

Only 2 years transferred, 8 years did not transfer. But I still have my master. Whatsapp on my old phone, thank god. I did backup last night on the old phone backing up three gigabytes of data, so I am safe.

Yes it will, as long as it's a new phone number, you will not be prompted to restore chats.
