    The extra master is for the corner workers if the car stops on track. Push a button on the side of the car and it pushes in the clutch.

    The dog surely is the most important team member no ? 😅 Free cuddles during practice and able to distract rival teams with it's cuteness 🤣
    The livery for this year's le mans looks amazing! Best of luck!

    What if during the strip down and reassembly you didn't re-connect the cam-load return spring? The Most Under Rated part of a Race car and you didn't try the cam-load return spring?

      @@TheMotorsportMechanic well I have 3 years experience on regional rallyes, did a lil bit of ERC and WRC (with Alberto Batisttolli), and some private testing with radical cars, TCRs and GTs.

    Great video. It always amazes me how much you know when it comes to all aspects of the car. Will take a guess and say is the cockpit master cylinder got something to do with the steering. Seen the Le Mans livery and its stunning.

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому +1

      Cheers and work working every day on race cars you soon learn all aspects of it. Nope it has nothing to do with the steering.

    That extra master is getting to me. I imagine that the actual shifting mechanism on the transmission isn't dissimilar from a motorcycle transmission with a shift drum; the shifter isn't hydraulically controlled, is it?

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому

      The shifting mechanism is similar to a motorcycle but it is controlled by compressed air.

    Great video again and really interesting (imo..). Can't believe how dirty that air filter is. I wouldn't have expected the interior to be stripped! Fourth master cylinder - no idea - gearbox mechanism/ gearchange?

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому +1

      Thanks and glad you enjoy it. Yes the air filters do get dirty quickly, not exactly the gearbox mechanism but close

  • @Richspjones
    @Richspjones Рік тому

    Enjoyed that, cheers. I bought one of the 24 Omologato watches that will be in the car during the race; not sure where the watches will be stored in the car; do you know? If there's a shunt (god forbid), the watched might get a bit fu*ked, but that's racing I guess! Good luck at the Grand Fromage; I'll be shouting on the team from Singapore, as I couldn't get back to be there in person.

  • @robair67

    Great video. Was wondering if the front-rear axle loads change disproportionately with road speed/downforce, then manually adjusting the brake bias would be extra workload for the driver. So I'm guessing the extra master cylinder could be for ecu controlled rear brake servo via pneumatic pressure...?

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому

      Nope it's nothing to do with the brake system. The bias adjuster is a normal one and is nicely positioned just to the left of the steering wheel for easy adjustment

    • @robair67
      @robair67 Рік тому +1

      @@TheMotorsportMechanic that servo(?) on the end of it is getting me! Anything to do with clutch (for fast, no-pedal gear changes that won't wear out the dogs in the 'box, as it's an endurance car)?

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому

      Good guess closest so far but not exactly correct. With the paddle shift system there is no need for the clutch pedal (only used when pulling away and stopping) when changing gear. Keep it full throttle and pull the up shift paddle and there is a very quick electronic cut in the engine that takes the load off the transmission enough to change gears without damaging the dog rings.

    4th master cylinder is interesting my first thought was BBW, but then remembered these don’t have hybrid power, so not that. I can’t think of anything else hydraulically controlled 🤔

    Hmmm I can't see any ride height sensors here.... 😂
    Do you use the same engine for the testday and the race or will you change it after the qualifying sessions?
    Is this "fourth" master cylinder a system so that the marshals can force the car into neutral if the car is stuck in gear?

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Рік тому +1

      The engine was a fresh rebuilt one which we put in just before the event in the workshop and will be the same engine for the whole event. Well done first correct guess on the 4th master cylinder 👍

      I would say your pretty much correct with that. It is for the clutch and is operated with the marshal switch which kills power and operates the clutch so the car can be pushed to a safe place if needed
