Brand new here and have been following this channel for several weeks now. I love airplanes and spent 16 years in the US Navy fixing than as an Aviation Electrical Tech. Worked on the F-4 phantom fighter jet, the F-14 , Top-Gun. Also worked on the A-4 Skyhawk when I was selected to join the US Navy Blue Angels. I wish everyone here the very best as you all pursue your passion for Aviation. All the best to you DutchPilotGirl.............you are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also wish everyone here pursuing their dream in becoming a pilot and working your way up the Ranks!!!!!!!! All the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I first travelled to Amsterdam when I was 10 years old. I am now 67. I have been back many, many times both as a tourist and on business and I love the city and its people. Like everywhere it is not perfect but the people make it special and I have always rubbed along very well with the Dutch wherever and whenever I have met them. I love watching your videos as they are open and honest just like the many Dutch people I have met over the years. Thank you for posting them and long may they continue...
Making your audience aware of the requirements to become an airline pilot is not demotivating. It is simply requirements or prerequisites for this career path. Those who have finished school can pick them up online possibly. Good positive advice.
You live in such a beautiful area of the world. My sis and I were last there a couple of years ago. For the people who always finding time to criticize, just ignore them and keep your positive attitude.
Don't worry about demotivating people. Those are the lazy ones that don't want to work for anything. They just wanted to be handed everything. You are doing great. Be you...for you.
Not necessarily folks who don't want to work for it but folks who want to pretend there are not difficulties in anything you choose to set out for, y'know like helicopter or snowplow parents wanting to keep their kids' heads full of delusions.
Flying a plane, yea it's heavy and you need to be able to calculate things. Can't expect to just hop into the seat and 'wing it' - pardon the pun. Plus better to know now before applying.
Thanks for this "behind the scenes" insight. It's nice to get a feel for who you are outside of flying as it puts flying that much more into perspective. I loved the montage you did at the beginning of some of the sights around Amsterdam. I was there once, and loved it. Always have wanted to go back and spend more time.
Absolutely loved the suck it up attitude about the real world from someone who has been there and done that personally, young people need to here the truth from young people who are making their dreams happen by hard work work and not hollow praise - Thank You
Being a former B-17 Pilot, your videos really show the difference and improved technology of aviation. At least you fly in a nice temperature controlled cockpit as I flew in temps averaging 30 to 40 degrees below zero. Great videos. Keep up the good work. Also, you certainly are a beautiful young lady!
I am glad you have addressed the educational prerequisites aspect of pilot training. In my view, it takes a certain logic and mental attitude in times of stress while in the air. Not everything is glamorous...but this is true no matter what job or passion people pursue. So, telling it like it is...is good. At the same time, you present a good mix of things in another part of the world while doing your videos rather than just classroom stuff. Great job and keep up the good work.
I enjoy hearing you speak. My Swiss German daughter-in-law speaks much the same way. Also, i appreciate the written notes of information that can be read and not intrude audibly on what we are hearing from the cockpit. Keep up the good work. No worries about being forthright about reality.
Math and Physics, yes! I had to go back to learn some important principles of both when I began flying 10 years ago, when I was 53, so yes, sometimes old dogs learn new tricks because they really want to enjoy something they dreamed about all their lives. Michelle, we need to see you walking in the frozen canals, nobody here in Southern California believes me that I saw that! At 2am ! Best Wishes Always...show everyone even more of A-Dam from your perspective in the future
Hello, DutchPilotGirl. This is a good break from aviation matters. I like that. I've only seen Amsterdam in commercials and ads, but it looks really nice based on this video. You're on the right track, Michela. I appreciate new sceneries, real life stories (no matter how grubby), and I eat Math and Physics for breakfast. I discovered you through Joey! I've been subscribing for 2 months now. Keep up the good work :)
The "problem" I had with Amsterdam when I visited was my neck strain from excessive rotations left & right. There were just too many beautiful ladies everywhere (like PilotGirl) and of course, the city itself is a jewel, the beers were great and the tulips were in full bloom.
Amsterdam is a lovely city. I visited there twice and hope to again. Enjoyed the KLM flight from Chicago to EHAM on a 787-10. Your videos help a non-flyer understand more about the science of flying as well as the excitement.
I love Amsterdam. I walked where you were walking and I did a boat tour in Amstel river. Nice place to visit again. Unforgettable trip. I used to watch your videos no because I want to be a pilot, but because my father was, and a Flew with him several time in the cockpit. Now, I can understand the passion to be a pilot and how to difficult could be a commercial airline pilot. That why I feel a lot of respect to the air crew members specially pilots and co-pilots. Meantime I will continue traveling around the world, enjoying the aeronautical technology that make us live better.
First and foremost; thank you so much for taking what little personal time you have to share with us your life as a pilot. Honestly I have watched all your videos and I can honestly say not one has been demotivating. I think about today’s society and how we have what I call “fast food attitude”. We want things our way and we want them NOW. We don’t want to work for them. It’s a lazy mentality. This is why I enjoy watching you. You tell it in real life experience and don’t sugar coat things. So please, keep doing what your doing and, more importantly, how you are doing it.
Math and physics are essential to know! And I have to agree with DogTag Gamer, some will and some won't. You're there for the ones that want to get off there butts and do it. Your videos help tremendously. Thank you and keep doing it as you see fit.
Always wanted to learn to fly but my time is gone so I use a simulator at home and when I can I enjoy a flight ✈️ I also enjoy the information you share. God bless you always. Gil.
I love your videos! They are interesting, educational and provides a lot of information. Never got to fulfill my dream of flying aeroplanes. So your videos provide glimpses of what it could have been. Keep on posting, the great videos you make. Your work is appreciated.
Amsterdam is such a neat city. Attended the “Nutcracker Suite” around Christmas at the Stopera in the Muziektheater It was THE BEST I have ever seen. Love to go back for other events……wonderful. It gets quite chilly there in Winter…a lot like NYC.
I recently visited this beautiful city. I stayed in Zaandam. Schipol airport is one of the most efficient I have ever went through , way better than Heathrow.
Watching your videos inspires me so much. It also takes my mind off things. As I've mentioned before in a previous comment I made in one of your other videos that I love to travel and flying just takes me to other heights. I should write a song based on the beautiful scenery your videos inspire. It's like watching an adventure short film. Also Amsterdam seems like a beautiful place to live in. Thank you kindly for allowing us to see a little bit of your world. Much appreciated. I wish you all the best in your exciting career. Much love from Canada.
Nicely shot and produced DFG ... I was in Amsterdam for 3 days in 2006 as part of a year long world trip .. an interesting city ... Loft style dwellings are certainly very popular there. Maybe the Dutch invented the concept? It certainly has lots of character. A lot more interesting than the stereotypical suburban dwelling. And right in the heart of the city vibe. A good life DFG.
Thanks for sharing your life as a pilot. I'm about to begin training soon and I'm very excited! I love Amsterdam, been there and can't wait to go back!
Only seeing this older video today... but Mannn, I love the internet for these things. I keep saying to folks: show us the everyday, not the touristy stuff, not the special events... 'coz down the track, it'll be the everyday where we'll see the most change... Fanx! for posting this video that's a bit of *your* everyday, Michelle... it's a revelation to see around your home for those of us 'in the antipodes' who haven't been to Europe... :)
Thanks for sharing this little video about your life outside of airplanes. I can see that Amsterdam is a beautiful city, with many bikes. From Argentina, a simple Xplane fan who always watches your videos and learns a lot, thank you.
Amsterdam is the entry gate to Europe. You will find amazing people, great museums and places you won't find anywhere else. Don't miss the historic windmills in the outskirts of AMS in Zaandijk. What about a tour to the Heineken factory? Or the uniqueness of the Red Lights District? Fancy to eat a green muffin, yes made with pot? What about having dinner or a drink at the floating boats on one of the canals? Besides, you will see some of the most beautiful ladies in Europe, as you can witness by watching this video.
I visited Amsterdam in 1985, beautiful City.. and the Dutch are so tall! The men and the women. I remember being in a supermarket and all the women I I passed in the aisles were close to six foot tall! At 5'8 I felt like a midget! I hope to go back next year, in 2020. Take care and fly safe! 🌹
I think it goes for the rest of the aviation world as well. You need to have Mathematics + Sciences as subjects in order to pass your theory examinations. Without those subjects, it would be very difficult indeed!... Good on you for mentioning it, as it is what it is. Flying is one of my great passions in life and I've done so for 30 years. However, I'm absolutely and extremely bad at maths and not so hot with science either...but I do find both quite fascinating. And I always admire people who are gifted in that direction. We all are uniquely gifted in different ways. Many thanks for your most interesting videos...keep them coming!
Michelle, I like the road you walked away. The bicycles, vintage cars, coffee shops, small canal, classic houses they are just awesome. It’s clean and beautiful.❤
I love A'dam! I used to live in Holland and although Im from the US, I still visit often. I love the country and the people. And the food is fantastic!!!
You are, without exception, the most beautiful pilot I have ever seen. In addition you are so well spoken and knowledgeable. Your videos are so well put together and are of high video quality! Keep up the excellent work young lady! Much love from West Virginia, USA!
You are a beautiful and talented girl. It's been one of my real regrets that I could not take up flying due to cash problems. A friend took me on a short flight in his world war 2 German jet fighter where I was able to take control after he taught me some simple aerobatics! Please keep the videos coming. I am hooked on them!😊
Enjoyed seeing where you live and your apartment. You were very candid about the requirements of becoming a pilot. The video is very informative for men and women who desire to become pilots.
I've been to Amsterdam twice! One of my favorite cities to visit....and no, it's not because of that district. I always recommend travellers new to Europe to start with The Netherlands because they get an amazing European experience, and the language is not a barrier because you are all so good at English! Next time, I MUST visit the aviation museum and big pilot shop there....I've missed it both times!
Your days off look like what my day on used to look like. Amsterdam on Monday’s. We stayed across from the Central Train Station. On the edge of the Red Light District. Lots of great restaurants. I miss the bittenballs and the ribs.
Your English is excellent.👍. Watched a few of your videos about your career! It is truthful and inspiring to men and women who wish to pursue a career in aviation. Let’s all hope that the pandemic can be contained and aviation can make a come back to somewhat of what is was just a few months ago. All the best to you, yours, and the men and women you fly with. Stay safe. Cheers. !😄
Nice to see your beautiful town again! Last time I visited was in the late 1990s, so beautiful! Got my education at Embry-Riddle in Prescott Az. That was 1980, so long ago! Keep kicking it girl! LOL!!
Awesome video! I was in Amsterdam in early May of 2016. Some of the shots in this video bring back memories. I loved it there and would go back again. Had lunch at San Tommaso Restaurant , the Warmoesstraat location, twice. Totally fascinated by your story and your down to Earth attitude. Just had to subscribe!
I cant fly and have no intention of learning but I enjoy your videos showing the views. Equally Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities and do hope to get back there one day.
Hi, Michella, My wife and I visited Amsterdam in 2009 when we went to Brussels for a couple of days. We fell in love with Amsterdam for sure and the short video of the city in your vidoe brought back great memories. I, too, have a BA degree in Mathematics as well as a minor in Physics. Wanted to become a private pilot at one time in my life but didn't pursue it diligently. I'm a retired US Naval Aviation Logistics Officer and have been retired now for 26 years. Hard to believe that I have been out of the US Navy 6 years longer than I served. Anyway, great videos. Good luck in Milan.
Your videos are awesome! Thanks for sharing your awesome life with us. You motivate me to pursue my career in aviation. Your videos also motivate me to travel to and maybe even move to Amsterdam from the US cause that's where my family is actually from and it looks like a really cool place. Keep up the great work🤙🏽
Hey there .. So many memory's .. I 1st Visited AmsterDam in 1975 .. I had been travelling with my Girlfriend who was from America ( I am Scot's / Irish descent ) & when we arrived I really wanted to go to the Van Goch Museum ... Having been in the South of France not long B4 & having the reddish /Blonde ? Hair & stubble beard ( aged 19 ) plus Sunburn from our trip to Berne .. I was stood Next to one of Vincent's Smaller self Portrait's & Lot's of people stopped me to take my photograph Standing nest to the Portrait lol .. In those day's Amsterdam was a beautiful open & friendly City ... But I did not manage to get back until the early 1990's when I went to Visit my older Brother who had made his Home there & He has lived there since then .. where he had a career as a Singer in Rock Band's & worked in Bar's in between .. I hope to Visit someday again perhap's when the world is less in a state of Flux .. ' Turbulence ' ? lol I would really love to go Back to the Van Goch Museum & to re Visit Vondel park where my American girlfriend & I had our last Picnic B4 she went off to meet her Parent's & then to fly back to the USA .. We met in Paris & Kissed Goodbye in AmsterDam on a small Bridge near the American Embassy ?? ahh Memory's .. I don't think you would have been Born yet in 1975 ? lol I started Hitchhiking back to Paris the next morning & Every plane that flew over could have been carrying my 1st Love .. lol Please forgive an old man's rambling's .. I would love to see the Flight into Schipol ? .. I shall look through your other film's .. Best Wishes to you & all your loved one's .. Bye
I am late to this video as it was posted over half a year ago. BUT what I wanted to add was that I I know you mentioned that your vlogs are for people who want to become a pilot, I don't want to become a pilot but I do thoroughly enjoy watching aviation videos, I am fascinated with the whole concept of planes being in the air. I am also a somewhat nervous flyer so I am coming to your channel in the hopes that your videos provide some comfort and understanding and to help my anxiety of flying.
People getting demotivating for math/ physics studies? Well maybe shouldn't be a pilot... This is not an ordinary job in a office, being a pilot is a way of life, even if you are not flying, you still think of flying. You have to study hard, training hard, is not only pushing bottons. I use to say, only people who really love to fly, have strenth enough, to become a pilot, the path is long and rough, but is reawarding at the end.
I have haf maths and physics for my Olevel Gcses however i had chem bio for alevels would they accept it and wht countries r the best for pilot training thts cheap too? i am 19 and i am trying to figure out wht exactly to do with my lifee , was considering medical just cuz society expects tht even tho i know i dont like science labs etc as much , i was considering law, economics or pilot training nd i literally never felt so lost beforee :(((( can u give some career advice? uni is also something i wanna experience and i cant decide if i should do pilot training cuz tht uni experience wouldnt be there i wanna make frnds and memries but also earn alot of money and be successful like i always wanted as i come from a middle class background sorta .. also this whole corona virus BS made me consider whether its a good idea to enter uni when everthing is online currently and for awhile it seems :(( wht do i do , almost felt sucidal ngl
@@aena5995 Airlines or flight schools requiring A level maths and physics is done purely to restrict the number of applicants. The math you require as an airline pilot is O level standard, particularly mental math. You are definitely will not need to know how to calculate matrices whilst falling into the sea with one engine on fire. DutchPilotGirl did not clearly say what ages "high school" refers to. In my country we do not use the term "high school" so I do not what age group she refers to. If she means up to 15 years of age that would mean O level math. If she means 15-17 years of age then that would be A level math, or intermediate math.
@@aena5995 In Europe, I’d say that Czech Republic, Poland, maybe Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia have affordable programs in English. Worth investigating. US and Canada should be reasonably affordable. Some colleges in Québec offer 4 year degree with a commercial pilot license subsidized by the province (big $$$ savings), but you gotta be Quebec resident and speak French. Australia and NZ are probably expensive, well at least the living costs are.
I really like the videos about how to fly the plane including the control button features. I would like to see if the planes you fly also have foot controls and maybe some on the ground views of the plane functions. Thank you so much!
Very nice, modern flat. Congrats. I visited Amsterdam a couple times back in '14,. It is a beautiful, clean city with lots to do and see. Schipol is also a nice airport, for me only Munchen can compare to it.
Hey there, Michelle!! So very nice to see Amsterdam again. I used to have a friend, years ago, that lived in the Prinsengracht area of the city whom I used to visit about three of four times a year, and vice versa. At that time I lived in the Black Forest region of Germany. Tot ziens!
I have watched three of your videos and enjoyed every one. Thank you. I am now 78 and one of my regrets in life was not learning to fly,so I envy you very much. I loved this video. Brought back memories of my visit to Amsterdam three years ago. My Great,Great, Great grandfather was one of the founders of Artis. His last name was Westerman. I hope to return, when Covid allows, with my Grand children. All the best from Canada.
Love all your videos Michella. Nice to see you in Amsterdam, I recognized a few places as we’ve been to Amsterdam many times as our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live there. Hopefully we will be there mid February so we might see you walking about, you never know.
Hey Michelle! I've watched a lot of your videos and really enjoy them, I would like to see what are the challenges that a student can face during early flight training such as PPL OR a comparison video of your lifestyle and career of your current profession as a professional airline Boeing pilot and your alternative option if you weren't a pilot. Cheers
Sadly Michele we had to cancel our visit to Amsterdam from Cork in March due to covid 19 , it was our first visit and were going to stay in the Craftsman hotel. Was so looking forward to it. Always like the Boeing 737 and sadly the 747 is no longer with us.
You are a role model.Smart, beautiful personality, talented, independent and confident.Thank you for your motivating videos.I am long past the age to become a pilot.I am fascinated with aviation all my life.
I have a friend who recently retired as an American Airlines 737 Captain. He always said Boeing was a pilots' airplane because the pilot was in control of everything all the time. However, Airbus was a computer operator's airplane because the computer controlled everything and the pilot was just along for the ride. My former company (Rockwell Collins - you should be familiar with our equipment) built products for both Boeing and Airbus, so I understand what he meant based on each company's requirements.
My heart sank a bit looking out the window of your flat and seeing Westerkerk! After I finished university (a long time ago!) I took my Dutch language classes in the basement there with other ex-pats. But I moved back when my girlfriend and I broke up (Ha!). Amsterdam is heel mooi!!!!
Next Topic: What you do when you get to the airport, prior to you getting on the plane and flying. Where do you? Security? Walk Around? Shopping? Food? Free time?

although i don't intend to become a pilot, i like the glimpse you give into what it's like
You are a total realist and meet things head on! Cudos to you. Thanks for this episode.
Thanks for sharing your life as a pilot. I'm about to begin training soon and I'm very excited! I love Amsterdam, been there and can't wait to go back!

We all are uniquely gifted in different ways. Many thanks for your most interesting videos...keep them coming!
I see some speakers, but what stereo do you have? What music do you like 😃?
I am hooked on them!😊
Thanks so much for giving us a glimpse of your life. Showing us your humanity.
Such a spectacularly beautiful city.
God bless.
I wish that one day I'll see Captain Joe, DutchPilotGirl and MentourPilot doing a video together
same
Pilot alexander
MentourPilot probably could be an instructor of DutchPilotGirl as they are both on 737🤣
And pilotmaria
It eventually happened on April 15, 2020, go check them out at MentourPilot.
I was in Amsterdam twice in 2017 and 2018 and I love it!
Stay safe.
Cheers. !😄
Being a typical New Yorker, we think New York is the center of the universe. Amsterdam looks really nice. Might have to plan a trip there.
Gary Fleschner it's not as great as it looks, too many tourists. Consider Rotterdam as well
Nice to see your beautiful town again! Last time I visited was in the late 1990s, so beautiful! Got my education at Embry-Riddle in Prescott Az. That was 1980, so long ago! Keep kicking it girl! LOL!!
Terrific edits and photography in the tour around the city centre. Big smile at seeing the two chaps on the bench with their Before and After hats!
Videos with you flying are great but you in your home makes for a closer connection to your fan base. Thanks for doing that and hope to see more.
A´Dam....One of the prettiest cities I´ve ever been to! Miss it sooo much!
Math and physics are most important for many careers. It’s just stating the facts. You are being honest with folks which is the right way to be.
Keep up the great work🤙🏽
This girl its so pretty beautiful
SteveC what do you mean?
LOL
clash gamer ddx are you fuckin kidding me
Mythical Duck lol
If she does have a boyfriend already, whether or not it's Captain Joe, then may he continue to show himself worthy of her.
I’ve always loved Amsterdam,,Love Ol town,,and the atmosphere,,,
People getting demotivating for math/ physics studies? Well maybe shouldn't be a pilot... This is not an ordinary job in a office, being a pilot is a way of life, even if you are not flying, you still think of flying. You have to study hard, training hard, is not only pushing bottons. I use to say, only people who really love to fly, have strenth enough, to become a pilot, the path is long and rough, but is reawarding at the end.
I have haf maths and physics for my Olevel Gcses however i had chem bio for alevels would they accept it and wht countries r the best for pilot training thts cheap too? i am 19 and i am trying to figure out wht exactly to do with my lifee , was considering medical just cuz society expects tht even tho i know i dont like science labs etc as much , i was considering law, economics or pilot training nd i literally never felt so lost beforee :((((
can u give some career advice?
uni is also something i wanna experience and i cant decide if i should do pilot training cuz tht uni experience wouldnt be there i wanna make frnds and memries but also earn alot of money and be successful like i always wanted as i come from a middle class background sorta ..
also this whole corona virus BS made me consider whether its a good idea to enter uni when everthing is online currently and for awhile it seems :((
wht do i do , almost felt sucidal ngl
I was there and in Denhelder in 1972 While in the Navy. Also went to Copenhagen in 1974
Man I love NL so much, Amsterdam and Eindhoven in particular 😍 Thank you for the images of your beautiful city, you're very lucky!
I really like the videos about how to fly the plane including the control button features. I would like to see if the planes you fly also have foot controls and maybe some on the ground views of the plane functions. Thank you so much!
Good to hear from a pilot who takes me all over the world
I need to visit Amsterdam again. I love museums and culture. Thanks for sharing a personal side of you. :-)
At 1:25 with all the kids in VR gear. What's that? VR cafe? Some sort of training for the kids? Gaming caffe?
I enjoy your videos since I worked for TWA and I've spent time in Holland. Thanks
I felt in love with that 5.1 surround sound in your livingroom.
Tot ziens!
Thank you for your generosity but to me watching your video is a blessed and it’s a wonderful gift 🎁 already! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us.
I have watched three of your videos and enjoyed every one. Thank you.
I am now 78 and one of my regrets in life was not learning to fly,so I envy you very much.
I loved this video. Brought back memories of my visit to Amsterdam three years ago. My Great,Great, Great grandfather
was one of the founders of Artis. His last name was Westerman.
I hope to return, when Covid allows, with my Grand children.
All the best from Canada.
Thanks for giving real world information. Also, thanks for giving us a brief view of your real life and your home. It is very refreshing.
Always nice to se the other side of youtubers…thanks for sharing with us!
Love all your videos Michella. Nice to see you in Amsterdam, I recognized a few places as we’ve been to Amsterdam many times as our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live there. Hopefully we will be there mid February so we might see you walking about, you never know.
Thanks for the more personalized view of your life. Beautiful apartment btw. Safe travels.
Thank you for sharing and being so real. Happy Travels!!!!
Right in the city center. Its a beautiful city but very expensive and very busy.
Thank you for the tour around Amsterdam it's awesome knowing your life
Glad I watched, I am now getting an indoor hammock. good idea.
Great video!..........very refreshing to hear someone not “sugar coating “ the real world. Thank You for your Show.....
Totally agree with you! I'm here in the U.S. and although a student here has access to the same subjects some need as little more push like me! 🙂
Honesty good or bad always #1 at least for me... You and Captain Joe make great videos! I don't fly but Love aviation and physics, and Thank You🤪
