Don't forget to add a method of escape for bees and other insects,. I put a few sticks and leaves in, and also a pile of stones as an 'island'.

Great tip about cleaning with boiling water. I used to just scrub for ages with a brush, but boiling water gets rid of the green residue in seconds!

in winter I clean my bird bath once a day and in summer 2 to 3 times a day. however, I don't recycle the water so I gave to change it each time fully from my tanks that collect rain water. John , Cape Town , South Africa.
