    I'm pretty sure in the 1920s a lot of the reason of why they kicked the ball weirdly was also because of what the ball was made out of, because it was more hard and heavy.

    Love this! The player heading the ball at 6:46 and later seen having his leg wrapped was the first superstar of English sport: Denis Compton. He was a legendary cricketer - one of the greatest to play for England - and he played for Arsenal and England at football in the winter.

    Love the idea of this video!
    I think what really revolutionised football though was the Brazilian style of play from the 50’s to the 80’s. They were far ahead of their time. It would have been cool to analyse them if possible

    Really good video. Each decade showing a clear improvement on skill, athleticism and technique.
    There was a TV show comparing the 2006 FA Cup final with one 50 years before. I wish I could find it now, because the differences were so big.

    Great video Matt. Interesting to see how the playing surface quality and evolution to possession/rondos changed the game so much around the 90s.

    Jumping rope is under appreciated. It helps the connective tissues in your feet get stronger, which allow you to store and release energy more efficiently without burning as many calories. There are other ways to build that strength as well, but if you like jumping rope, it should not be overlooked.

    Hey Matt, I was looking through your programs. I bought 3x3 for my son a few years back and it's amazing. As a freshman, he's the most skilled player on his varsity team and it isn't even close.
    He's gonna do some partner training over the summer with a handful of teammates and we're wondering if any of your programs have partner/small group drills included?

    • @BecomeElite
      @BecomeElite  Місяць тому +2

      That’s absolutely amazing! So happy that your son has improved so much from the program.
      The “Offseason Program” has some partner training sessions, but unfortunately none of my programs have sessions for small groups. That might have to be the next program I make!

    Not sure where your clips are from but I just watched some actual games from 1950 not bad at all Try kicking a heavy hard soccer ball with those old round top shoes that kicking technique might be the best for accuracy those guys mastered the best technique and play speed for the gear ball and pitch they had available
    better gear has evolved the game allowing a different style of play and technique

    Yet there is more injuries now with more "science"

    • @muhammedkeremovet2255
      @muhammedkeremovet2255 Місяць тому +12

      That's not the issue. The game's overall pace and intensity has increased immensely. The amount of games that players also have to play nowadays is outright ridiculous. Especially in England.
      Imagine if these changes happened without the development in science. There would be significantly more injured players than fit ones.
