  • Yes I changed the transmission fluid for the first time at 200k miles!
Most mechanics wouldn’t recommend replacing transmission fluid after a certain number of miles. This is because, if you haven’t stayed up on the service, the fluid becomes contaminated with clutch material and actually begins to aid in helping the transmission shift over time!
If you’re like me and have a car with 200k+ miles I’d recommend you tread lightly on doing this job if it’s never been done before. ITS AT YOUR OWN RISK I’ve had no issues with shifting after completing this job but that’s just me, I’ve read horror stories of people doing this and they ended up having major transmission shifting issues!
KEEP IN MIND Do not perform a flush if you’ve waited this long to change the fluid. Only drain the pan and refill because flushing the system will cause debris in the old transmission fluid to block the small passages within the transmission that need to be clear In order for fluid to pass and your transmission to run smoothly!
