Vib-Ripple (PS2 Gameplay)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- The player takes control of Vibri, the simple, vector-shaped rabbit from the game's predecessor Vib-Ribbon. The game puts the player on top of various photographs, using each one as trampoline. Jumping on a photograph loosens up 2D items called "Peta Characters," which Vibri must collect before a time limit expires. An icon on the left side of the screen gives the player a hint as to what part of the photograph to jump on to find the item; the icon's color, shape, and size corresponds to a certain combination of the three on the photograph. When Vibri is close enough to the item, a drumming sound is made and the controller vibrates. Other than the time limit, Vibri must avoid creatures called "Boonchies" that inhabit the surface of the picture. Coming in contact with a Boonchie will cause Vibri to de-evolve from a rabbit, to a frog, to a worm, and eventually causing a game over. However, it is possible for Vibri to evolve into a form called "Super Vibri," allowing the player to temporarily disable a Boonchie, as well as see hidden Peta Characters.
Vib-Ripple has 60 default photographs. The player can create their own stages by uploading his or her own photographs from a digital camera or cellphone via the PlayStation 2's USB port, or even send pictures across the system's online network. The game automatically scales photographs down to 200 by 200 pixels.

Well its not really a sequel, its more of a spin-off game more than a main game sequel. The creator is still thinking of making a full sequel to vib-ribbon to this day. Sooo... GET HYPED BOISSSS!!!!

I this isn't nearly as good as the PS1 original, but I would play this purely for more Vibri
No. It's actually better than the PS1 original. (At least in my opinion)
@@enriquebautista66 maybe in gameplay but the main thing about vib is the amazing music and the vibe which this game lacks
i like the music
@@mackback319 Your opinion matters not, perish
@@bastard2789 Let people have opinions
This game gives me a huge stereotypical japanese videogame vibe. From the music, to the overly colorful graphics, to the weird concept... That gives it some charm. But yes, it's not nearly as cool as the original game.
[edit]: before someone calls me an idiot, I know this was Japan exclusive. And it shows.
Old comment, but... it's also stereotypical Japanese due to the use of cute piles of turd. I never understood that.
Vib-Ribbon had a sequel?
The sequel is somehow even weirder than the original?
Impressive.
actually it has two. mojib-ribbon is the other one.
@@Iyx0 mojib ribbon is most likely an spin off
i was so impressed when i found this on my emulator

one fun fact vibri speaks japanese not gibberish
Ahh, NOW i get it. It's like the first game, but it makes levels out of images instead of music. Cool!
I still don't get it
@Mura B From what ive heard you basically jump on the image trampoline thing and find pixel images inside of them, you lose if the timer runs out before you find all of them and I think just like in vib ribbon (Where you could put in a cd and it will generate a course to play on for you) you can put in your own image to play on although I have no clue how.
@@rougethebaseballbat There is also a spin off of these games called Mojib-Ribbon dealing around the same concept. While Vib-Ribbon generates levels with music and Vib-Ripple generates levels with images, Mojib-Ribbon generates levels with text. It was only released in Japan, however.
Pretty much yeah. And, there are enemies.
... And it's 3D.
And i just found out the pixel things are called peta's

First game: Sound
Second game: Photo
My only problem here is that Vibri was originally just a white character out of vector graphics in front of a black background, with everything else having that same concept. In that game everything was clear and easy to see, but in the sequel, this little vector character is being put in front of much more realistic and colorful backgrounds that barely fit with what she is, and are instead completely different, and look like they belong in some other game series. She just looks... Out of place.
And if they changed her design to fit with this new environment, then people who played the first game will likely be unable to recognize her unless they do a very good job at redesigning her.
I agree with this, but there is also "timing" and aesthetics part to be noted with.
Vib Ribbon looks very fitting with the current times, despite being released in 1999. It has a minimalist and simplistic look that most indie games in recent years have, thus contributing to "indie and timeless" atmosphere to it and made some people believe it has been released recently. I also noticed that people wanted the game to be released in PC, Switch, or even PS5, which shows the timeless nature of the game. Vib Ripple, meanwhile, has very strong Y2K aesthetics, which is more fitting in the era when it was first released and looks very dated now. For these reasons it also doesn't have a "indie" and timeless feel that Vib Ribbon had, unfortunately. Also, some people say this is something that could have been in the Nintendo DS or 3DS, but not the PC, which shows its outdated nature.
@@smb99thx I remember the first time someone showed me Vib-Ribbon I thought it was a new game, then I googled it and couldn't believe it was over 20 years old.
mojib ribbon is text
Technically, they did redesign her, as now she is a glowstick
@@smb99thxI don’t care how old the game is, those Y2K aesthetics are still delicious as ever
I don't know how this is supposed to be a successor to Vib-Ribbon, excluding Vibri in the game and Vib in the name.
The first game procedurally generates levels out of music. This game procedurally generates levels out of pictures.
@Huberchet Through the USB port, or its online service
So the theme of the vibri series isnt rhyhtm gameplay, but procedurely generated levels from player-inputted content?
@@JumboDS64 there's also a spinoff that makes levels out of text
This is a very unusual inclusion In the Vibri lineup, considering the fact that the company created Mojib Ribbon, a sort of sequel to Vib ribbon in style, while this was a complete departure. No game released after explains this change, and the lack of a major transition away from rhythm games leads to no explanation.
I know your comment was 6 years ago but how this game relates is actually through the use of media feature when in vib ribbon, media features were incorporated by the use of music from personal cds whereas in this game the media features are incorporated by the use of images from your sd card in a camera or something

I really like the Shibuya-kei inspired soundtrack, back when that genre was still popular (sadly the genre also started to decline in the early-mid 2000s), I also like the use of adaptive music, meaning that the songs changes smoothly during gameplay, the loading screens and the menus.
Eh...this doesn't look nearly as good as the original. It lacks the same sort of spunk.
i agree with you, is "jumping on a trampoline" the only game mode?
