Very impressive, im needing to upgrade my it's to solid axle.....the rear shackle idea, I believe I'm going to check out an try it on my conversion.....thanks for posting
That would be awesome! Coming September the truck will under go alot of changes stay tuned for content on it! Right now I will be focused back on my s10 for #nonamenationals content on it will be coming very soon!
Steering may become an issue for you. The lower and more even you get everything the better off you are. The front mounts could use some boxing inside frame rails and between leaf mounts. The rear shackles ability to move will be hindered. Look at 6.28 of the video. As the spring compresses you will need freedom for it to move backward since it is a rear shackle. I guess best advice is to flex it out a bit. I would suggest a new driveshaft because the slip yoke is too far out. With it being probably a np241 you could do a slip yoke eliminator or at a minimum get a cardon joint up top. Its a lot of work to get these dialed but are worth it in the end. Using the super duty axles is a great idea because they are plentiful and cheap also the aftermarket supports them well. Pirate 4x4 and gmt400 sites are a good place to start for SAS ideas. Good luck finishing up.
I appreciate it, I have a drop pitman arm from superlift and new tie rods, to help lower it a bit, the front I plan on remaking and changing a bit it's basicly just a test run ti see if I could do it and so far so good eventually I'll get around to make a cleaner front mount that is a bit stronger, I do plan on going with a slip yoke eliminator..
Im gonna solid axle swap my 98 obs chevy i got tired of dealing with ball joints and the differential and 4wd axles always breaking when im pulling someone
Thank you I plan on coming out with a new one! Been waiting till I got a better camera then a junk phone 🤷 but I will release a better one here soon I got a lot more done to the truck that I never filmed
I think you did a killer job I don't have have a trust fund or rich family I did mine the same way lot of junk yards and making my own parts but anyway excellent job love it
Currently I'm using the stock pitman arm for the OBS with the joint cut off and drilled out to run the cross over steering, buuut I ordered a superlift 88-97 Ford f250/f350 drop arm it seemed to fit but haven't put it on yet! Their also 32 spline so they fit perfectly on the GM gear box I will make a video soon about putting it on and about it!
@@bingk398 i didn't have to cut anything mine slid right up under the truck and was able to bolt it right to my stock leafs later I added superduty 6inch lift leaf s
So far iv been lucky I guess iv put about 500 miles on the truck since iv solid axle it, I do plan on building gossets the angle up towards the frame and bolt to the frame on the inside as well
Little harder then doing 99-04 superduty axles but keeping the 6 lug pattern is nice I guess, I would look into sky's off road or Offroaddesign they make brackets already prefabricated unless ur good with a welder and Dimensions
were u able to get a front driveshaft in with this lift? im trying to figure out if i can order a premade or have to be custom. im considering stacking square tubing on the side and the transmission mount to drop the whole crossmember. hoping it may look more like the torsion bar crossmember pre sas

@@damnitstiner522 couldnt ever find a kit to drop the crossmember. but lengthwise my driveshaft fit, but with the sas ending up so tall the shaft rubs the crossmember. wasnt sure if u dealt with that or not
@@thekosmokramer you shouldnt be having the problem of the drive shaft hitting the transmission cross member, unless the truck is giant mine clears fine at 8-9 inch's of lift but my truck also has a sm465

Not a problem will do! I'll try to a video of this weekend of thr truck we are going to take it to a truck meet in Springfield mo hang out with some friends

You may not be afraid to drive that death trap and endanger everyone else on the road, but there is so much that is just wrong with it. What a pile of shit.
I guess I should start asking what's wrong with it?? Lol it passed state inspection plus was able to be aligned, also I used the dimensions front skysoffroads kit for the front bracket, the rear is ur average leaf spring brackets lol only thing it didn't have was shock mounts and front shocks?? And multiple people SAS Their obs trucks bec the IFS is garbage lol
@@codyparker679 Thank you! only thing im lacking right now is steering stabilizers, and front shocks and shock mounts, it is still a project that is actually my next goal is to get the front end buttoned up
I love the fabrication work. Not everyone has $4000 and a pro shop to do a swap. I totally understand this is a work in progress. I have a 92 gmc k2500 and plan on this. So much less bs to fix all the time and way better off road flex. Great video. 🤘🏁🇺🇸
THANK YOU NO BODY SHOWES HOW THEY DID IT THEY JUST SHOW THE TRUCK AN THATS IT THANK YOU FOR THE ACTUAL FULL IN DEPTH BUILD BROTHER!!!!

Dude thank you so damn much! I just bought a super duty Dana 60 and want to put it in my c1500 and you answered ALL of my questions.
If you have any more at all just feel free to comment or msg I'll try and help as much as possible..
At some point I want to build a late 90' suburban for a camp rig.

Buy a Kit ?
Simply bolt a 88 to 98 OBS cab to a 70s Frame 😂
Guess what i did to a 77 Chevy Blazer ,
Dana 44 Front end , 12 Bolt rear end
I built my own, but you can buy a kit or do what you done yes that is a thing peolpe even do that to the 99-06.5 trucks lol

Did you cut off the stock Trac bar mount on the ford dana 60 ?
Yes I did I cut the bracket off plan on later down the road to weld on one to run it to the factory A arm mount mounting location
Were your wheel bolt patterns sane from the chevy axles to the ford? I want to do the swap but dont want to spend the money for another set of rims
No I went from 6x5.5 to 8x170 lug pattern if you do the k10 k5 axle swap it will stay the same
