  • Hi friends! Thank you so much for joining me on a new episode of the AgithaCreates Knitting Podcast, Knit and Chat edition!
After getting snowed in for what feels like the only time on this unseasonably warm winter season, I was inspired to knit myself some hand cozies (TM) so I wouldn't have to bear the embarrassment of being the knitter equivalent of a shoemaker without shoes, basically.
I hope this video finds you well and gives you something to listen to while crafting at the least, and food for thought to practice gratitude on the good things we have in our lives at the most.

Very relatable! Feeling like you fit in is hard. But making your place and drawing people to you is great!

You're so right. It's easy to feel down when things don't just happen with zero effort, but that's an unrealistic expectation. Thank you for the validation! 🫂

Definitely relatable. I don’t really feel like I fit in anywhere. I’m comfortable with who I am but it’s still hard and sometimes I get down about it.
And yeah UA-cam doesn’t love me either. I’ve been running my channel for 9 years or something and only broke 1k because of the granny square yarn. And now engagement and such is going make down to “normal”. I feel like I’m doing the same thing that everyone else is doing but can’t get the same level of engagement that others do and it’s frustrating. ❤

I feel you! The algorithm gods did not bless me. I've been on UA-cam for over 6 years. But, it is what it is. I'm the common denominator in the problem. However, I enjoy recording knitting content... when I do record.

That's a very good point! Personally I'm always looking for new knitting/crochet podcasts to watch, but no matter how I word my search I always get shown the same accounts even though there's so many of us out here. Thank you for commenting because now I see you, and I can watch and like your videos! If the algorithm gods won't help us, then we have to help each other haha 😉

I related to your rambling so much! I did grow up in one location at a small private school, but felt like an outsider from day one in kindergarten. I went to the same school for thirteen years but only ever really connected to international students once I got in high school. I think for me it was mostly the curse of being a teacher's kid, but I also remember no one could ever understand my dad because of his 'heavy' Spanish accent. I still don't hear my dad or his families accents 😂
How are your goals this year going? I'm finally walking around really well and working through my WIPs like crazy!

Agitha, did you ever finish your all in one yarn hexigon blanket?

I haven't yet! Turns out I enjoy making the hexies more than I enjoy joining them together 😆 but it's in my to-do list, and when I do I'll definitely make a video out of it and link it to this one

Kitty break! Do people really think kids being raised bilingual is detrimental?? that's bonkers. You "absolutely" belong in the knitting/crochet community. I don't think there's ever a magic moment of yes I've achieved the feeling of belonging in this community. But making friends here and there and investing in those friendships can give us the feeling of community.
    No creeps!!

They do! Young children that grow up in environments where different languages are spoken tend to start talking later, so there's a misconception that that means it must be bad for them 😮‍💨
Hahaha I appreciate the encouragement! You're absolutely (🫣) right and you make such an important point, too, that I think is rarely talked about: you've got to invest in your friendships and connections you make with others. That was great food for thought 🩷
