To be fair most 1/4 scale rc airplanes will rip apart if you dig the wingtip in the ground. They are pretty damn big. Unless you have some crazy solid carbon fiber build they don't really stand a chance in any sort of crash. But honestly most of the expensive electronics and motor and all that are probably fine.
It had a pretty strong tail section though. And that happened with the full scale aircraft too. No surpris when you fly in wind too strong for safe flight.
The real cause of such roll-overs is the fixed front wheel. For the long wheelbase it is necessary to install springs between fronf wheel and iactuator or use differential main wheel braking for directional control with self-orienting front wheel.
This is one of those crashes that really suck. Pilot got it down, and it broke apart in way too many pieces for what it was. You are lucky that it's a floater because that approach was way too slow
Owner brought it from colorado we waited the winds out and looking at the radar it looked like we had a window the wind died down about 4 mins into the flight it went to this crazy wind that was rotating. Unfortunately mother nature won. Although it was a clean break and will fix quickly and look amazing again
Sorry the 104 was unstable at low speed at best feel bad ya crashed it but it was a given design + strong wind poof 😮 not the jet for them conditions but it looked great for a second or two
There’s no fixed runway there, and this super pilot should have landed against the wind and not at 90 degrees….. You can see the leaves being blown after the crash…….
That wind was already a nope for me.
That wind. Nope, not me, not gonna take her up. Fixable-thank god. Love that early NASA chase scheme!
I know it was windy, but that thing looks like it just fell apart like it wasn't built great
Amazing weakness

Really sorry to see, seems cross wind from behind?
Sorry for that. Besides, the paint scheme of Walkers Jet, collidided with the huge XB 70 Mach 3 Experimental.
Now that's wind. 😮😮😮
When I left the ground there was zero wind
@airmanbybee common issue here in Florida too.
all that space and couldn't land into the wind?
Haha sorry. I saw this too
Did he kick right rudder just before landing? 🧐🤔
Left rudder
That one won't rub out.

Dang, sorry man.......
Too windy dude!
I read starfighter, I automatically thought X wing fighter from Star wars
This is a "breakaway" airplane? Good idea.

Being an F-104 it was 50/50 at best. 😂
Why do you risk such a plane at these crazy wind conditions? Sad to see it crash...

Landed with a side load.
That's too bad

Hope the pilot is o.k.
1/4 Airworld of 1/5 Skymaster…?
Airworld
If it was a skymaster, it would have crashed before taking off, lol. Come on, you know I'm right ??:)

Yep the wind changed direction about 6 times as I set up and went from nose to side in the lenth of the video hard to tell from the couch at home.
Leaves? Thats trash.
🤑🤑🤑
😅😂
Narrow landing gear.
There was a crosswind, the F-104 starfighter hates any crosswind.
The F104 hates crosswinds no matter the scale.
🙁
😂
AWWW sheet
