The moment I saw Mena beat Endling Walker, I knew he have this tournament in the bag and then he beat Zhen who was a MONSTER the entire event, until he cross Mena and was put down for good, flipping amazing.

Zhen is so Technical here but so many right calls from Mena, the raw CA, wake up DP. When it's his day it's his day indeed.
Much respect to both of these players to make it all the way. Zhen(as well as Endingwalker) are players to look out for in the future, as for Mena he put up a fight. No matter what one's opinion about Luke MenaRD train hard with him to get where he needs to be and help him with CPT, Congratulations to Mena.
Can't wait to see whats in store for next CPT X where there's even more money on the line,everyone is gonna be even more hungry to try and win it.

Some people get better when the stakes are higher. Mena is one of those ppl. He seemed unbeatable the entire tourney.

Luke really put a asterisk on this tourney for me.... I just feel that character outclassed the rest of the cast by far
While not untrue, you can't deny that Mena read Zhen like a book. Nobody else in the history of Street Fighter has allowed themselves to eat 3 out of 3 raw CAs from a single opponent. Zhen was far, far too married to his always-plus playstyle, failed to adapt, and Mena took advantage. Eight matches and Zhen only won two of them. It can be tempting to oversell a player that comes out of the blue but there's no defending that kind of result. Here's the silver lining, though: Capcom are the ones who decided Luke didn't need patching. They also didn't want Mena to win this. Chances seem good that Capcom will take this lesson to heart and not open the door for somebody to abuse an OP character for a major win.
@@Asterra2 how did Capcom not want mena to win? Secondly Luke's toolset allows for mena to be in the great stiuations that mena was in that set. Capcom did nerf Luke but it was a kinda a fake nerf to cater to ppl who already had issues with him being that good. Luke is super hard to oki on knock down because of wakeup cr jab to target combo and suppressor forces to hold the mix or take the throw.. bro I could go all day about this character I give mena credit he still had to execute but this character had alot to do with it

A bit old but you do realize that Mena won Capcom cup before Luke? One of the best players to play the game, put some respect on his name. Just because you get bodied by Luke players in ranked doesn’t discredit anyone at the highest level of play.

Lo mismo le paso a Tokido. Aun con ventaja de sets fue barrido, es lento.
Some say he cheated with a cheap character. Others say he got it in the bag. Others say he should have won with the character (at least from the first Capcom Cup he won with that character) that put him on the map in the first place: Birdie. Others say he's an idiot for winning with a cheap character. I don't know really who's speaking truths right now, but kudos to him. Much love and respect.
I was rooting for MenaRD but Zhen had such an amazing run that I legit thought he was going to win.

Proof that gen 1 vs season 5 is just a character balance issue. I mean I've only seen 400 Luke's since his release(tournaments, casual,ranked,wherever). He's basically ryu and ken with crack fiend speed and ez input basics. Wall bounce takes time to get used to but c'mon his plus frames are almost any frames with Luke. The show wrote itself

I think if he'd figured out he was too reliant on his plus game, the sets would have been overall more nail-biting than 6 games to 2...

Didn't qualify through his region or EVO. Had to rely on the LCQ, but Zhen sent him to losers and he got eliminated afterwards.

Tokido laid it down hard on Punk: He knew Punk hadn't been taking the game seriously for over a year, and that Punk is the type of player who can't do well with a character he doesn't like. At least Punk understands that now. Maybe Ken is secretly awesome in SF6 and Punk will have all the ammo he needs to return to form. The difference between Punk and Mena is right there, though: Both players were punished for doing to well, by having their characters neutered. Punk's reaction was to grow sick of the game. Mena's reaction was to abuse Capcom's SF6-advertisement-character to take another Capcom Cup. Then again I doubt Mena hates Luke the way Punk does.
I suggest he switch to NRS his Johnny cage is really good.
