They’re so crap because last year during the lay-offs they fired the dude basically in charge of it. He was doing the genre work. My theory is they didn’t even realize they fired the Spotify Wrapped Guy until the end of 2024 came around and they went “So who do we have on Wrapped?” and realized… oh. We fired him. And rushed to get some AI crap and cheap assets together.
Well funny you should bring this up because Spotify have recently posted a job opening for “wrapped co-ordinator” or something on their LinkedIn. So you could be completely right, they might have actually binned off the creative director of wrapped lmao
@allsosavvy I think it’s confirmed they did fire the guy, but I mean that my theory is they didn’t even notice until it was Wrapped season again. So they had to rush for a half-baked Wrapped because they didn’t notice until then they had nobody to work on it
you could well be right, could be the reason behind them stalling on its release for so long. especially given that many users didn't actually have accessed to all/any of the features of wrapped when it did drop
the worst thing you did not even mention was that when the background is black and the picture moves up there IS in fact black text on that black background which you are able to see for a split second while everything is moving to the next scene
One thing that was black was my top song with info on that and my top artist with my listening streak. If I knew where to reach you I'd be down to send you pictures of the issue
