@@geoffcarter yeah cracking matey, be great. Still can't believe Cheap Charlie's is no more. What's that all about eh! Try out the bootleg brothers microbrewery on Sukhumvit road next time. Great little place. Good food and drink fella. cheers
You crack me up at the stuff you get yourself into. I laughed when you look around and everybody is going to bed on the 3.5 hour train ride but, you you. Your facial expressions are classic.
Luxury! We missed our train and ended up taking the old diesel non airconditioned train to Hua Hin, it was crowded, no air cond, wooden seats and by the time we got to Hua Hin we had diesel hair :) But you know, it was a very memorable journey and Im kind of glad we missed our earlier train. Since then though, we always take a hire car to Hua Hin from Bangkok - much quicker and with a good company and good driver, relaxing.
Great Fun! I got the overnight to Chiang Mai and we got there about 8 hours late having spend much of the night standing still. Hua Hin is very smart. I went to HH by bus 9 years ago, so I might get the train this time. A good video so thanks and yes I know it is not up-to-date heehee
Great stuff Geoff, best travel vids on UA-cam..so good to hear a real English voice, l used to spend 2-3 months a year in Mukdahan but old and `creaky` now ( me l mean not the train ) keep smiling mate.. cheers
I've done the overnight to Nong Khai for visa runs to Laos. 12 hours but did it twice and quickest was 14 hours. Add on that a trip from Pattaya to Bangkok and it becomes a long journey. This was 10 years ago doubt it has changed. I did discover the overnight bus from Pattaya which took 10 hours and you can upgrade to VIP which is much more comfortable. Highly recommend a trip to Laos.
I forget the of the bus station but it's the one off Sukhumvit in Pattaya. Cost is about 700 baht each way for VIP bus, which is the normal coach but they have 6 seats in the lower deck. It will cost you no more than an extra £10 both ways to upgrade but well worth it. Departs in the evening and arrives in Nong Khai about 7am and then you get on another bus which takes you over Friendship Bridge. Very cheap as I remember in Laos and for £10 you'll be a multi millionaire and have a huge pile of notes to prove it. The locals are very friendly, several times they've befriended me in bars and taken me out with them and I've never had any problems. Certainly different than other surrounding countries I've visited and my favourite trip for visa runs. When you thinking of going back again Geoff?
Thailand's railway network is a little antiquated but it is currently under reconstruction. They've started on the new line which will cut Bangkok to Pattaya time to well less than an hour but not sure when it is due to be completed by. I remember the good ole days of Don Muang to Pattaya a 4 1/2 hour journey on top a 40 hour round trip flight with Areroflot. Nightmare journey's for a two week holiday in the promise land. Lol
Geoff you are a true legend , love watching you're amazing adventure and your videos have given me the confidence to travel to Thailand , keep up the good work mate !
i tried the train but i thought the views were very dondescript. Now i take the bell travel bus from suvanrbahumi and i enjoy it alot more.usually on way back i take one to mochit.I have just found out however that the bus now only runs to hua hin airport and not the bus station so not sure how available the green song teuw is to airport.
It looks like your window was nice and clean. I've been on several Thai trains that have 'tinting' on the windows which makes it impossible to take decent pictures. For shorter trips the 3rd class are the seats have the windows that come down and are great for taking pictures. Thanks, nice video.
Lovely country and it's people..Great job filming..Geoff! I felt I was taking the trip with you! Cheese and cucumber sarni for £5 quid if your lucky in the UK! I've never seen trains jet washed here mate, and we call Thailand 3rd world!..giveover!
Geoff why don’t you give Jurassic mountain resort in Hua Hin a days fishing, world record fish in there, everything is massive’ look on the website, you would get a good UA-cam Vlog out of it I’m sure, and I know you like a bit of fishing for bigguns’ anyway good to see you back mate👍🏻
Nice video, Geoff. Can you get staff to fix your seat to lay out for a nap if only going to Hua Hin or was that only for folks going further south? Was the food good and/or can you bring your own on board?
That's Geoff, I will be staying in Thailand first for a couple of weeks and then off to Sihanoukville. I'm hoping to travel round to see where to put my feet up. Hope to meet you one day, keep the video's coming. A couple of questions, do you get charged for using the ATM'S and when your out, are there toilets?
Hi Geoff, thanks for the vids you make, I enjoy watching them, doing the bkk to hua hin today, 23/1/16. Same time 14.45, do you live in Thailand, just making vids, if so great life. Take care mate.Geoff Bailey, Berkshire, uk
Hi Geoff, thanks for the video. Looking forward to making this journey soon. Did you get the ticket in advance or is it ok to pay on the day at the station mate?

Hi...Mr.Carter.!I'll have a trip from Thailand to Hua Hin and maybe i'll catch train to there. But i had read on many website...it will take 3 hour to Hua Hin...is it right? If not right...could you tell me how long is it take from Thailand to Hua Hin by train?Thank a lots ^^
It says 3 hours mate, but it took me just over 5 hours. And this is normal apparently. It never goes faster than 40 miles an hour haha, soon passes and aircon
Last time I enquired it had been cancelled. I wanted to catch it, but was told not enough people were using it, so they stopped it. I had to go on the bus to Hua hin, then on from there.m
***** yes it was supposed to be on from 7th january. 1200 baht one way. Now they are saying the pier at Bali hai is not up to standard safety wise ? So your guess is as good as mine ?
Can't remember brad? Slept since then. It wasn't expensive. I always book in advance just incase, but think you should be ok just turning up ? My train was virtually empty
LIKE THAT TRAIN WASHING GEOFF . THAT ONE COACH NEEDED A PAINT JOB ..BUT THE REST LOOKED GOOD , CHEAP FOOD ON THERE AS WELL , BED INCLUDED ..COULD SAY B& B GOOD JOB YOU DID NOT GET THE SLOW TRAIN TO !!! BRITISH RAIL USED TO BE AS BAD ..
Hi Geoff, I think when I move to Cambodia I am going to make some video's taking the p^ss out of you guys, you make me laugh, but in a nice way. What editing software do you use? Best wishes Chris
Wow, she did not have to check the computer for departure time. Here they don't fucking know what a cup of coffee cost unless they check the computer first.
jUST A TIP as advised by real train ticket staff inside the' tickets for foreigners office'. Recently,The girls inside the HUALAMPHONG ticket office told me NOT to listen to any unoffical tour office people who wear a badge and card at the entrance because they are pulling tourists across the road to their own private agency office and charging them a lot more for the same train tickets! They told me they still have to buy the tickets from them but charge commision. Do it yourself -buy the tickets inside the station. You have all been warned!
I have watched a few of your videos and for the amount of time you are in Thailand your ability to pronounce names of places and other things is poor, the one thing you are good at is stating the obvious, this is a bar, this is a shop, this is where you sit and wait for the train, your not the only one who tries to be a tour guide and fails miserably
Superb love this, just going through some of your old vids Sir Geoff. Great stuff.
Thank you Mark. More to come this winter

Thanks Geoff! I appreciate the time and energy it takes to make these videos.

Brilliant Geoff - seemed like a bit of a trek but the beds looked ok ! 🙏

I've been on the Bangkok to Chiangmai run a couple of times, got to watch out for derailments, during rainy season.
We got an early train to hua hin and wasn't the Express and for 40 baht each it was definitely an experience
I did a Thai train trip once Geoff, nice to experience but wouldn't want to do it again!
曼谷到华欣,可以坐火车,曼谷华南蓬火车站有火车到华欣,票价按照火车种类不同区别,快速的票价贵一点,慢的没空调的便宜点。

How much will the taxi be
I got the taxi back from hua hin to Bangkok. It was 1200 baht, and took 3 and a half hours because of traffic in Bangkok.
GEOFF CARTER Wow, where did you find a taxi that would take you for 1200?
GEOFF CARTER I always have to pay around 2000 baht for Bangkok - Hua hin
you can take van taxi from Mochit terminal station cost only 180 Baht or from survanabuhmi by coach
One thing you never mentioned was how much the ticket was but great video again geoff

Train was fine ?
Sorry about that. I will be more specific. Next time to hua hin would you take the train again?
