Great Video, The beginning was like being on Acid. LOL the furniture in the video was on the other side of the room,, its like, , wtf, must have been the camera. I gotta go easy on these beer, haha
All the footage was mirrored so I had to flip it in editing. However, I forgot to add the intro initially when editing and so I forgot to reverse that one! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I been looking for a good video about the helix 5 G2 with gps. I feel out of all the ones I watched so far your's has been the best
Thanks for the info on the Helix! I got a 690 series right before the Helix models became affordable. With the updates I've done to it it does most of what the Helix models do, but the screen is smaller. I haven't used it fornice fishing yet, I'm a Vexilar guy myself and have owned the FL 18 for 16 years now. Still using the same battery I bought the unit with!
I think the best sonar out there is the one you're comfortable with and can read well. Vex really are great, they wouldn't be an industry standard if they weren't. Thanks for watching!
I have been using the ice 35 for 3 years and looking to upgrade. However I am not sold on getting the helix 5. My biggest issue is that I have heard there is a slight delay in getting returns when in flasher mode. Have you experienced this? To me this a deal breaker. One thing with traditional flashers is the readings are instant. Don’t think I could live without that
Hey man great video. I just got my helix 5 and for some reason my batterie dies when I leave it over night, is this normal? Am I suppose to unhook the batterie when I’m not using it?
@@FishTips I am having the same issue with my brand new unit. I also had troubles this weekend getting a solid bottom. There where a few weeds but i just could not get it tuned in to see my jig without going way past what the the scanner showed as bottom. I wish there was an auto tune. Frustrated and might go back to a flasher if i cant get it right here soon. Great video of tips. Thanks!
@@IndustrialControl when you first get the sonar you have to charge the battery for 18 hours this will help battery life and possibly the problem with finding the bottom you would be amazed what a low or a bad charged battery will start to make problems and stuff!
I have the Helix 5 G2 Chirp and can't get it to go into Ice fishing mode. It'll say its on but none of the features work, and it doesn't reboot and go into Ice mode like I've seen on so many videos ..not sure what to do? It may be a defective unit?
Have you tried downloading an update off of the humminbird website? If that doesn't work then you might have to contact them and get exchange. Thank you for watching!
What mode are you fishing on that the screen looks like that? I had it figured out last season, but for some reason can't remember how to get mine like that again. Instead of the marks being solid lines, they're more "3D", if that makes sense. I would like my unit to look like yours.
Wisconsin Outlook I remembered it as you commented back! Thanks, homie! Want to drop by and give my latest video a watch? I would greatly appreciate it man!
Just wondering if the GPS is worth it....at Cabelas the GPS unit is almost 150 bucks more than the one without GPS...anybody have any input on that? thanks
I really enjoy the GPS feature so far. If you want to use it on a boat you can mark spots during the summer for winter and even plot your own lake maps too

Great tips. I recently upgraded from the Ice 55 to a Helix 7 G2 and absolutely love what it does. Can't wait to get out on the ice.
I did a similar thing, going from the ice 35 to this! You're going to love the graph, I know I do!
Just bought one comes Monday I’m going to go out Tuesday just have to see how far north I have to drive great video
Had 7 inches in central Wisconsin today!
Nice might have to head that way next week

Fishlovme Peterson How do you keep that battery working well for 16 years! Keep it on a float trickle charger? Did you recondition it? That's amazing.
Nice. This unit is on my radar. The price might have been useful info. Thanks
i already have a Helix 7 g2 but you made some great points that i was able to take away some good info!
Thanks, I'm glad you were able to take something away from this!

Sounds to me like you might have a bad battery. The unit should not be drawing power while off. Thanks for watching.

It's called "A-scope" you will have to go into the menu on each screen option and change it
