Dark Tranquility is one of the most consistent bands out there. From 1995's "The Gallery" onward, they've put out great album after great album. I think their newest, "Atoma" is a slight return to form, probably their best since "Character". In structure, since they're using clean vocals, it hearkens back to "Projector", one of my favorites in their catalog. It's pretty hard to go wrong with DT.
Mikael Stanne is part from being a fantastic singer also one of the nicest dudes in Metal :) He always takes time to chat with fans and is just an all-around awesome guy.
A bunch of furious titles if you want to pick one "Lethe", "Terminus", "Lost to apathy", "Lesser faith", "Monochromatic stains" And alternation clear/growls "Therein", "Atoma", "The mundane and the magic"
I would also recommend The Treason Wall and Cathode Ray Sunshine from Damage Done for some serious headbanging and Insanity's Crescendo live in Milan with Nell Sigland. But we could honestly recommend any random DT song and be in the money, honestly.
Therein, Lost to Apathy and Weather the Storm are favorites. I also like the song Mikael Stanne did with Solution .45, Bladed Vaults. Was convinced it was Angela Gossow until I read the booklet ;)

I saw them last year at Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany (There is the whole Show on UA-cam With really good Quality, i hab really recommend to watch it). So, at this concert he was so flashed and amazed about how many People are here to see them, that he can't stop smiling. At the end they played Miserys Crown and he crowdsurft over the infield. Definitely one of My favourite Shows ever. And I would really like to see your reaction on Suckerpunch by Delain. Beside of Epica and Infected Rain Delain is my favourite band with a female singer
You guys should listen and review some of Yma Sumac songs. The supernatural voice range she had (RIP). It's not metal singer, but easily she could be singer of any metal genre.

Check out "The wonders at your feet" live from the Where death is most alive dvd. You need to see these guys perform at a live show. Pure passion for the music they make.
Please check young band from Germany - Enchiridion "The Realm Of Blackened Perdition". They play very good melodic death metal. Its like a mix between early Children of bodom and Kalmah.

I will also recommend the title track and Lethe from that album. The live in Milan versions are pretty good too.
That album is undoubtedly a seminal work in melodeath. I think it's fair to say that, along with At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul and In Flames' The Jester Race, The Gallery is an album that defined melodic death metal.
sugoruyo I totally agree, I just add a detail, those albums defined the Gothenborg MeloDeath sound. There's another album that is as important as those to define Melodic Death Metal... "Heartwork" by Carcass.
If you're doing more Swedish double headers you definitely have to include In Flames. Maybe to spice it up an older In Flames track such ass December Flower. Fast, melodic and brutal at the same time.

A great Swedish band for you to react to is Evergrey. Either King of Errors or Touch of Blessing. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
