When you start your whole argument with "I" and continue with "me, me, me" that tells me it not only is not biblical but against the will of God
He offers no Scriptural basis for his change in beliefs, only experience and emotionalism.

@@gregmainer5416 Yes! Great analysis. Our evolutionary psychology is primarily focused on gene replication and success. Heterosexual males created religions with man gods that thought like them and had anthropomorphic features that mirrored themselves. The problem is not everyone is born with the same disposition because evolution does not replicate genes exactly the same every time. This proves we were not created by God because everyone would be heterosexual if that’s what God really wanted. Evolution doesn’t care about heterosexual or homosexual as long as the genes pass on.

Why do we murder? Why do say what is right and wrong? If all of our morals and beliefs based on biology, then why are some things wrong
to do? Also, nowhere has it been proven that humans have homosexual desires based on biology or genes.
@@EthanMurphy2005 Hi there. You said God made us with free will and allowed us to chose him or ourselves. When you study Free Will, you quickly find out there is no such thing as free will as Christians understand it. In fact modern neuroscience and behavioral psychology have found that our mind and choices are largely if not entirely determined just like astro physicists have found the universe is determined. Since this post is about homosexuality let’s look at an example of preference. People who are homosexual have no free will in choosing who they are attracted to. I am a white guy, but my wife is Mexican. I had no choice in which race I was attracted to. I couldn’t choose another race because my “free will” wouldn’t let me. With evolution, it makes more sense because it will mix up the gene pool. By the way, there’s no known gene that proves I am attracted to Mexicans, so does that mean my biology doesn’t determine who I am attracted to? Is my soul attracted to Mexicans? Please tell me what determines who I am attracted to and how this happens.
This leads to the question about our behavior. I highly recommend looking up Evolutionary Psychology. You’ll be amazed how we make our objective and subjective decisions based on gene survival and replication. You’ll even see why the gods of the Bible and Quran follow the alpha tribal leader template. You asked if evolution is true then why do we make mistakes or inefficient decisions. This actually proves evolution. Evolution is making the best with what we have. If Yahweh designed us and created us, we would be better at decisions and make virtually no mistakes much like computers but better. The fact that we have blind spots, make the majority of our decisions based on emotion rather than logic, etc. proves we evolved.
You asked why we murder and that is easily explained through evolutionary psychology. Animals and insects kill each other and within species for resources, mates, revenge, and status. We are animals and do much of the same and can see some of this with unjust wars that have economic or resources at the forefront of why we go to war.
You brought up morality and why we say something is wrong. Morality is ontologically subjective meaning it is something we create in our minds like the rules we create in games like baseball and cricket. These moral rules are based on a goal that serves us. We start with us and then extend morality to our immediate family, extended family, tribe, and we eventually extrapolate this morality to others if there is enough resources. Notice though this morality doesn’t extend to eating/killing the innocent life of animals. Not even the universal transcendent morality of God follows this rule. That should also show that our morality is man made just like our gods. So where do you think morality comes from? The Bible?

When you interpret scripture through your personal feelings and faulty understanding of Christianity.

I hope that sharing this scripture may prevent some precious soul from being deceived by this man. Let God be glorified.
You interpret scripture in the same way and so does the church and translation boards. “nor homosexuals”=mistranslation. If your not gay would you know that or would this be an issue to investigate or challenge? Nope and that is what the problem has been.
If the "greatest influence" is his wife, why doesn't he worship her? He mentiond Christ/God not once in that response. It is not loving to support someone u "care for" in their sin-whatever the offense. Condoning & jeopardizing someone's salvation makes u an accomplice. You're aiding & abetting & will answer for it.
The sheer hubris. “...do I want to deny this to a gay couple?” Are you serious? It’s not yours to deny or allow. We follow God’s sovereignty, period. Regardless of our feelings experienced for “nice” people.
Sounds like he's elevated his wife to the place and work of the HOLY SPIRIT. He glorifies and speaks the praises and adoration of his wife. What was it JESUS said in Matthew 10:37: "Anyone who loves their father or mother more than ME is not worthy of ME; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than ME is not worthy of ME." I'm certain one's wife (ie., one's spouse) would also be included in there.
So in essence, what campola is saying is this:
"Move aside, go away, be gone HOLY SPIRIT. My wife is better than YOU. She does a superbly better job, a far more superior job...... of reaching, drawing and instructing and leading me, of reaching, drawing, instructing and leading others; of moving, working in me, and of moving and working in others. My wife is better at speaking into my heart, and she's better at speaking into the hearts of others.......than YOU." I don't recall my LORD JESUS ever saying that HE was sending campola's wife to be our helpmate. In my Bible, in John 14:26, my LORD JESUS says, "But the ADVOCATE, the HOLY SPIRIT, whom the FATHER will send in MY Name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." It doesn't say the FATHER will send Tony Campola's so that she will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Campola would have us all believe that it's his wife who does the work of the HOLY SPIRIT..... in place of the HOLY SPIRIT! He would have us believe that the world is lost without his wife. Campola is standing on very dangerous, very dire ground! He will have the blood of many on his hands.
FATHER GOD, my LORD JESUS, HOLY SPIRIT.......help me!!! Protect me from myself. Help me to not stray from YOU. Keep me held tightly, held closely, IN the shield of YOUR Wing, pressed to YOUR Bosom. ABBA, I need YOU, oh how I need YOU!

You just hate gays because you're totally insecure. You need the Bible to say what you need it to say because of this insecurity. You're just like the Pharisees - the hypocrits Jesus called out. If your own heart was full of God's love you'd be less hung up over it. It's not easy to see the world changing around you. We all like to be secure and think we have it all under control. But guess what...none of us do and you ultimately don't either. The Bible also says it is not right for man (or woman) to be alone which supports gay couples. We need each other. You would consign other people to live lonely lives or have the relationships YOU think are right for them. My prayer for you is that a gay couple with kids moves in next door to you and you become friends.
I‘m not going to quote you any scriptures because it could be taken out of context, but I think that Jesus was very clear on not judging and that Paul was very clear on grace. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, nothing will stop God‘s longing for his sons and daughters. Can we stop fighting and actually love one another. Look to what being right has led us to. Ask yourself the following, when you think something is from God: Does it enable you to love yourself more, does it make you capable to love others more and does it draw you closer to God or does it make you love God more? Does anything change in your life or is you character even growing at all? God might very well use the ones he has put at your side or even use strangers you would never expect to speak to you from God. If God has never spoken to you opposed to the way of your own of thinking, then maybe you made him up. In the end it doesn’t matter what I or you think, it only matters what god thinks. It comes down to following and KNOWING Jesus on a personal level, theology on its own can’t help us with that.
Just because he knows nice, nuturing gay couples does not negate the Word of God. Paul's admonition "and such were some of you" is archaic to Dr. Tony's rationalization of what it means to be a Christian. How many people have become deceived because of his influence?
So very sad that Satan has grabbed him to glorify a perverted lifestyle. Think of the damage being done because of Tony’s change in beliefs. So many will now think they’re blessed of God in their unnatural acts.

Years ago I listened to Tony preach. I was so moved by his explanation of the gospel of Jesus Christ that I wrote this simple song I still sing today. Jesus is the love

Since that time I walked away from the Same Sex Attraction Disorder (SSAD) and got married and had a son. I’m thankful Tony was preaching the gospel; my prayer is he will stay with the teachings of Jesus. We can be changed by God’s love through Jesus.
Brother Tony, I understand your compassion on even fellow-Christians who have struggled with same-sex attraction, but the solution is not to sanctify or celebrate what Scripture or God clearly does not (the Apostle Paul I believe could not have been more clear in Romans 1 in condemning same-sex relationships, even citing it as an example of God's wrath against humanity). I believe some Christians need to follow your example in not judging, being unkind or casting stones at someone who struggles with same-sex attraction, but I also believe yourself, like too many other believers have gone too far in the opposite extreme by affirming something that is unbiblical. We all are sinners and even I struggle with sins like pride, hypocrisy and selfishness. I think to we can contend that just about every heterosexual male on the planet, Christian or non-Christian has had some struggle against the flesh and against lust, what do I do with that feeling, do I affirm it or as Scripture says do I 'crucify those sinful desires'? I would think the biblical approach would be the latter and not the former. I do not need to affirm every feeling I might have by giving into it. It's no different with people who struggle or feel they are predisposed in a certain way, I'm sure it's not easy, but for the sake of Christ, can we not love the sinner and hate the sin? Somehow, people feel if you hate the sin you must also hate the sinner, well I myself am a sinner and without Christ I am even more of a mess than anyone else, but I do not hate myself because I sin, I do hate my sin but also know there is a great remedy, a Savior who brings wholeness into my own life and satisfies every desire of my heart completely! Should we deny to our homosexual friend, neighbor or co-worker the amazing mercy of God and the healing power of the cross in their life as well? I think not!
If we are not in Christ we are all enemies of God, children of wrath. If we are in Christ, we belong and are called fellow heirs.
This is why there are so many stern warnings, and why it says we are ALL shut up under sin and there is no partiality with God. While we were yet sinners Christ was sent and slain and rose again for us to be reconciled.
Romans 10:3-13 is particularly powerful here, and a strong warning I'll cite as such is ""For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.""
We are not to say in our heart who will ascend or descend, so do not assume that your (possibly) gay brother/sister are not yet saved,
""8 But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”"
The issue with 'love the sinner hate the sin' is that it's not logical in accordance with the word of God as best I can find it for multiple reasons. The first easiest statement is that even if you hate the sin and love the sinner which one is thrown into Hell? The sin or the sinner? Is the murder the one that is thrown into Hell or the *murderer*? The lie or the *liar*?
Now, the Bible says that if anyone says they are without sin they are a liar. So you and I who are in sin and await the redemption of our bodies, do we judge our brothers and sisters even though we are equally guilty and have zero credit to our personal salvation? This does not mean we have a license to sin, but upon being baptized into Christ we experience a regeneration of the heart and exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus said it is by these fruits we are to judge others, so by that statement alone if we are to look at those who embody the fruit of the Spirit even if they are gay or otherwise, and juxtapose that with the fruits of the flesh (like the anger and exclusion of and toward others believer or otherwise, lack of turning the other cheek, lack of submitting to governing authorities, quick to respond out of ignorance and man-made tradition, not blessing enemies, even the enemies we all were whom Christ died for) that we see in many professing Christians; who do you think stands in the right?
My answer? The one in Christ Jesus, who truly has faith in Him as the only begotten and only way we are reconciled and justified, not of ourselves so that we may boast. So then like the scriptures say there is no longer Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, or male and female; for all are one in Christ Jesus. The fruits will testify who is wheat, and who is tare but until our great Shepherd separates let's judge righteously and fearfully.
The foolishness of God is greater than the wisdom of man, and He chose us to confound the wise and humble those who of nobler flesh and birth should know better. Even amongst our brothers and sisters. These words I've spoke apply to myself no less either so please do not misunderstand me and if you are not in agreeance I respect that.

"Struggle" with same sex attraction? Hilarious. The only thing gay people struggle with is homophobia. Get to know a few lesbian and gay people.
@@sebastianmelmoth685 a lot of people I know who identify as gay told me at one point they struggled or tried to fight against the attractions they felt to their own gender, one acquaintance felt attracted to both genders and tried hard to fight the feelings of same-sex attractions. You can’t tell me that people in the LGBT community do not struggle at some point with their sexual orientation and many still feel attracted to the opposite gender in parallel with their own gender.

Thank you for that comment Drooblemeister, you can love the person and hat the sin! I constantly hear "well, you just are a hateful Christian!" Nothing could be farther from the truth! The second greatest commandment is" to love thy neighbor as thyself" and that's what Christians, as a whole are doing. In fact. As Christians, we need to be watchful of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

These are all laws stated by the Bible. If you praise the lord and ask for forgiveness for your sins you will be guided to heaven. Christianity is an amazing thing, because we’re all sinners and all we have to do is Welcome God into our hearts and try our best to live through him. If you don’t believe in same sex marriage as a Christian, you don’t judge or point fingers. That’s God’s job, not yours. Unless you believe all those things above should be outlawed, including countless other things, then your words hold no weight. As a fellow human being we have no room to judge others for their sins, because we have to work on our own. People will outright speak on not believing same sex marriage because of the Bible, but it’s all political and this hate will never win. God loves all his creations, and Tony and his partner will both be guided to heaven as long as they welcome god into their heart and ask for forgiveness for their sins.

If you are then we can have a biblical discussion because we believe in the same reference. Here’s the thing, out of your cherry-picking of scripture, you’re mixing the 3 types of law and treating them as like-for-like. 1) Moral Law is based on the Decalogue, which transcends time and culture; 2) Civil Law, which God gave to Israel to follow for that time and that place; and finally, 3) Ceremonial Law, which was to teach Israel about its worship practices. Moral Law still stands today (commandments 1-10), whereas Jesus came as the fulfillment of the law- mostly the ceremonial regulations, as evidenced by He Himself ignoring them (ex. touching lepers, dead bodies, declaring _all_ foods as clean). In fact, if we as Christians continued to practice the ceremonial laws, we would be inconsistent with the teaching of the Bible as a whole and risking abomination. I am not telling you what the Bible says to be better than you, but it is what we are supposed to use in order to teach, rebuke, correct, and train in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete and equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16). It is our job to call out false teachings and not treat them in a casual or harmless manner because it’s leading many to destruction. 1 Timothy 5:20 & 22 says, _"Publicly rebuke those who sin, so that the rest will be afraid. I solemnly charge you before God in Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favoritism.”_ People need to know this because as Hosea 4:6 says: _”my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from serving as my priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your sons.“_ Knowing that homosexuality IS a sin, it is not political, it is biblical and comes directly from the Father God and Jesus themselves, and that will never change nor can it ever be justified because it ruffles peoples’ sense of morality and social justice. You see this as hate, but it’s not God’s desire that anyone perish but all come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). If you confess your sins it is because you are aware that something qualifies _as_ sin. If a homosexual does not view their lifestyle as sinful, why would they repent? Yes, you’re right, God does love all His creation, but some of us created are choosing a life apart from His forgiveness, grace, and mercy. Again, it’s not my desire to be condescending or “arrogant” to you, but I do know the truth and I desire for others to know it as well. I’m just a beggar telling another beggar where I found some bread. I pray God opens your eyes, softens your heart, and that the Holy Spirit guides you to the truth in Him. Much love, brother.

Wow! This is what happens when your doctrine and beliefs are (obviously) founded on experience rather than the Word of God. He barely mentions the Bible or Jesus. He’s been a man of influence in my younger life and I bought several of his books and videos (VHS) back in the day. I love Tony but he’s flat out wrong! So sad, but yet a great sifting is taking place among the people of God as He prepares and purifies His true and faithful bride for His return, and that’s a great source of joy. Praise the Lord!

He was a very provocative professor when he taught at Eastern University when I was there and he definitely said things that will make you think twice but I very much disagree with him here. I’m really surprised at such a weak argument from him. He was a lot better than that as I recall
I’ve heard that the faculty at Eastern are as liberal as can be. Is that accurate?

Dr. Tony Compolo has always been on the edge with his views. He has become more and more, throughout the years, emergent and he allows the culture to dictate his ministries, social views and faith...this acceptance clearly tells us the direction where he is going. Scriptures did say that many will fall away from the faith and many will follow deceiving spirit; doctrine taught by demons...that the elect will even be deceived. We need to pray for him, his congregation that the Lord will open their yes to the truth and continue to work the truth in them through the power of His Spirit.

Amazing: He has departed from the word of God. As if we can freely choose what is edifying and beneficial for us, believing we know better than God, ignoring the sovereign wisdom and will of God. I do believe we can argue where the word is not clear, but in this case it couldn't be clearer.

Specifically, there's recent research from a pro-LGBT researcher suggesting that homosexuality is more mutable than heterosexuality.

Now, I personally fell on the bisexual/pansexual side so I can't answer the question from a "when did you choose to be straight" perspective. But what I can say from the bisexual/pansexual perspective of homosexuality is that even before I was born-again, certain decisions that demonstrated mutability. For example, I could be experience boners in response to pictures (the beauty of art) that I received from a bottom but in person, his naked body produced no reaction. This came after I got tired of fornicating and decided to stop exploiting people through fornication. So that was the loss of sexual lust. After being born-again I now don't even have a romantic attraction to other males. That was the loss of emotional lust.
(Albeit, it took me awhile to stop fornicating with this one specific dude because there were certain attachments that made me not want to "wean him off of me" but that was a bad decision.)
But from a wider perspective, people make the choice usually when they're younger, by either accepting or rejecting the Truth they received based on how they were raised and how they responded to whatever surrounded them. Ergo, there are many straight dudes who (and you can find stories like these over the Internet) who report doing sexual things with their male friends when they're younger but they never develop into homosexuality. In a pro-LGBT culture, however (or anti-heterosexual culture like the anti-heteronormativity that the LGBT culture is pushing), that would likely lead to higher instances instances of pursuing homosexuality and then developing that identity.
They then also make the choice when they deny being born-again. And I mean this about both homosexuality and heterosexuality since I've had both lusts fully removed.

I feel that this is error. God cannot bless a relationship (and only He can bring that “edifying” element) unless it is in obedience to His word. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to do away with it. So even though a gay couple may have genuine affections, the relationship stands in contrast to the institution of marriage given by our Lord.
Sin is no basis for rejection, and love covers a multitude of sins. All are made in God’s image and we owe them God’s love. But when you start teaching that gay marriage is acceptable in the eyes of the Lord, and it is not sin, that is incorrect doctrine. That is heresy.

Honestly, it's kind of disappointing that only this part of the interview was put onto UA-cam, making Tony out as someone who merely follows his feelings. Accessing the full interview, you see the truth that the thoughts and feelings he confessed to here are the basis for him going back to study, meditate, and pray on the Word. The convictions he now holds are the results of this.
If you disagree with the conclusion Tony has reached (and many of you do), then perhaps you ought to fight fire with fire, and go back to study, meditate, and pray on the Word just as he did. Perhaps God will open your eyes to a new piece of wisdom for you to share with the world. Tony said he has heard it all from both sides, so you're going to need something new to get him to reconsider and go back to the Word once more.
As Christians, we are all called to love without ceasing, regardless of any circumstance, and I must say I am often disappointed with the comments I find on videos such as these, where people on both sides of the argument insult and belittle those who stand opposite them. This isn't love, regardless of who stands in the truth and who does not. I am not against gay or lesbian marriages, only because if they don't know Jesus, then why would I expect them to live out a Christian life and follow The Way? However, if they claimed to be Christian, I would say, do what God says. I would council couples who are having premarital sex this way also. Sin is not a victimless crime. Though we are all sinners, God hates sin. We can avoid lots of problems (consequences) if we obeyed Him. He does love all and care for all he has created.

In the specific passage during the sermon on the mount, Jesus was teaching that a person is not to judge another a sinner if they themselves are living in that same unconfessed, unrepentant sin (see verses 4 through 5). He is not saying in a blanket format that we are never to call out someone in sin; nor to not call out a false teacher/convert. Point of fact, scripture says the opposite (Galatians 6:1, 1 Timothy 5:20, 2 Timothy 4:2, Ephesians 5:11, 1 John 4:1, and, that we are actually supposed to judge, John 7:24). Campolo is a false teacher, a charlatan for numerous reasons:
- He denies the sovereignty of God in salvation; (i.e. that man is a sinner by birth and by choice, saved only by the grace of God alone, by faith alone in Christ alone).
-He is a part of the emergent church movement; which, in short, encourages discussion over doctrine.
-He supports the murder of unborn children.
-He supports the abominable, wicked notion that men can marry men and women can marry women.
-He believes in macro evolution, which, in essence, is calling God a liar. If creation is allegorical, there is no reason to believe the virgin birth or resurrection were literal.
Lastly, to you closing statement, Christ was not the savior for all of mankind; He was the savior for God’s elect.

We are not to say in our heart who will ascend or descend, so do not assume that your (possibly) gay brother/sister are not yet saved,

The issue with 'love the sinner hate the sin' is that it's not logical in accordance with the word of God as best I can find it for multiple reasons. The first easiest statement is that even if you hate the sin and love the sinner which one is thrown into Hell? The sin or the sinner? Is the murder the one that is thrown into Hell or the *murderer*? The lie or the *liar*?
Now, the Bible says that if anyone says they are without sin they are a liar. So you and I who are in sin and await the redemption of our bodies, do we judge our brothers and sisters even though we are equally guilty and have zero credit to our personal salvation? This does not mean we have a license to sin, but upon being baptized into Christ we experience a regeneration of the heart and exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus said it is by these fruits we are to judge others, so by that statement alone if we are to look at those who embody the fruit of the Spirit even if they are gay or otherwise, and juxtapose that with the fruits of the flesh (like the anger and exclusion of and toward others believer or otherwise, lack of turning the other cheek, lack of submitting to governing authorities, quick to respond out of ignorance and man-made tradition (even church traditions that may seem so right, afterall our Jewish brethren felt as such), not blessing enemies, even the enemies we all are/were whom Christ died for) that we see in many professing Christians; who do you think stands in the right?
My answer? The one in Christ Jesus, who truly has faith in Him as the only begotten and only way we are reconciled and justified, not of ourselves so that we may boast. So then like the scriptures say there is no longer Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, or male and female; for all are one in Christ Jesus. The fruits will testify who is wheat, and who is tare but until our great Shepherd separates let's judge righteously and fearfully.
The foolishness of God is greater than the wisdom of man, and He chose us to confound the wise and humble those who of nobler flesh and birth should know better. Even amongst our brothers and sisters. These words I've spoke apply to myself no less either so please do not misunderstand me and if you are not in agreeance I respect that.
