My inspiring guest this week, Alexander, is a detransitioner (male to female to male) who was kind enough (and brave enough) to come on my show to share his emotional story with me. This interview was very powerful and eye-opening. I hope his story will save lives! Thank you so much, Alexander, for the important conversation! You were a delight to speak with and I'm so glad to have met you! -Buck

It is possible to live a fulfilling sexlife despite the challenges one may experience. While i mentioned that i can't have penetrative sex, that is not the only way to be sexual with someone. I am an asexual person and I don't like how the sexual orientation is being brought into these debates
Being asexual is like being straight or gay.
It is not because of anything outside like an injury, illness, medication side effect, sexual dysfunction, castration it is a sexual orientation where you don't have sexual desire for others, that is all.

I would actually like to hear more about this. I would imagine if one’s male genitalia is removed, that one could Not actually achieve an orgasm Through where the penis use to be. I do Know that males are also able to have prostate orgasm which would be through well anal sex. Sorry if it’s a bit graphic to explain.I understand one could still engage in sexual activity but I would also say that doesn’t mean one could achieve and orgasm after removing their genitalia. Can you explain this more please? I do agree it’s an important conversation to have. I would also point out that bottom surgery is Not minor at all it is in fact the most serious surgery with the highest rate of negative side effects, which you explained you experienced unfortunately. Perhaps you calling it minor was more being sarcastic? 💗

As someone said, both sides have “vocal extremists.” These extremists use manipulation techniques to sway, they use logical fallacies because truth is not on their side. They are subsidized, supported by unnatural means. Unnatural because dishonest and deceptive, and because it seemingly breaks all of our trust. Or it would if we were aware, and very few are.

My niece is 21 years old and a mother to a beautiful baby boy.
When she was about 6, she insisted that we all call her Jack and would only wear boy’s clothes. This lasted about 2 years and we all went along with it. Eventually, she just grew out of it.
It scares and saddens me that young people who engage in exploring their identity this way, are nowadays encouraged to refer to themselves as trans and potentially make irreversible medical changes to their bodies.

I think children need to have boundaries and be parented. They need to be told no sometimes. It is the parent's job to decide what's best for the child and stand firm on that decision. Children are not emotionally mature enough to make such life altering decisions. If they grow up and move out and decide they still want to transition so be it. That being said this is coming from a person with no kids. I can't imagine seeing your child in "pain" and not knowing how to help them. That must be a hard dilemma.

Buck, really important thing. I have noticed so so many autistic people transitioning and de-transitioning, that it should really be talked about more. I am autistic myself and I know that the liberal ideas always spoke to me as a teenager, because when you're autistic you percieve the world very black/white and have a huge sense of moral and that combined with being easily manipulated is not a good cocktail and makes this autistic turning into trans, very likely. Too many autistic people are being convinved of being trans and really really really believing it. It is super scary.

One of the reasons I'm glad I can homeschool my autistic son. If he's really trans I support it, although he doesn't show any signs of that, but he won't be spoonfed confusing trans ideology. Male/female is hard enough for him to understand as it is and even though I correct him every time, he has a habit of calling women he and men she (not maliciously though). Gender seems to be a hard thing for him to grasp and I don't need anyone adding more confusing genders to the pile.

    • @meganthemuffinman
      @meganthemuffinman Рік тому +19

I'm autistic too and I agree. I'm also a lesbian and have noticed a lot of detransitioners are actually just gay/lesbian or androgynous/gender non confirming or have body dysmorphia/body image issues and are not trans. It's very sad that these people are being pushed to the most severe 'solution'. They should be receiving real therapy, being taught that it's okay to be how they are and told it's okay to dress/act in a way that doesn't traditionally match their gender. If they really wish to transition as an adult they should be encouraged to do so socially first by going by a different name and presenting outwardly as the other gender because those things are reversible. I knew many people who socially transitioned and luckily didn't have HRT or surgery so when some of them realised they're not actually trans they could go back and those who really were trans could make a more informed decision about whether to transition medically. The problem is HRT and surgery is being pushed so early on, for many without even therapy to see what the root of the problem is, to such young people that they don't have a chance to 'test it out' before having life changing irreversible medical procedures.

I had a boyfriend when I was 18 that I’ve remained friends with for 25 years. He’s tall and slender with an athletic build. But he always talked in a way people found feminine. We were goth, he wore eyeliner and kept long hair that he dyed. He loved making clothes and made that a career to this day. He’s been married to his wife for almost a decade. Despite his effeminate attributes and people assuming he’s gay, he used to be quite the ladies man. Slept around like crazy. I think he avoided bullying because he’s 6’4”. It’s just crazy to me that it seems like every boy that exhibits socially feminine traits is just pipelined to being trans. My ex isn’t even gay. But if the world was then what it is now, he probably would’ve been encouraged into the idea he was trans. This is more common toward gay men of course but it happens to “effeminate” straight men, too.
Let children grow and discover themselves. Of course be kind and accepting to them and let them express and present themselves with love. But don’t tell a child they’re trans. Let them know that if they are it is not an issue. But don’t encourage it and certainly don’t medically transition them.
    The world is crazy.

The hubris of the medical community as a whole is second to none, as informed people already know, the reality is you can't artificially manipulate nature without paying a price of some description. These conversations are incredibly important to document and for all people to listen to, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." Cheers Buck & Alexander!

It is so absolutely refreshing to hear someone say out loud what I am thinking. Thank you so so much Alexander for this interaction and thank you Buck for sharing it with us. I never thought Non-Binary as a safer way to explore transitioning. I really love the thought of challenging myself to prove myself wrong that is a great way to learn. My daughter said at 14 that she thought she was a lesbian. Then at 16-17 she went completely the other way and when I asked why she was using a male name online (when I looked at her computer) she started crying and said she was trans. She asked if I still loved her and I said "of course I still love you, don't be stupid. Nothing could ever make me stop loving my kid. She started going to a therapist, not a transgender therapist, but she went every week just unloading her issues. This was like 2016 and I didn't really understand, but I supported her going by a different name and exploring, but there was no talk about medically transitioning. She started dating one of her friends that was transitioning the same way, female to male. He is transitioned and had top surgery by 19. Now he's still identifying as trans male, she has changed her mind, saying she rediscovered her feminine side and now goes by nonbinary. Now at age 23 she's gone back to a more feminine/neutral name. I do worry about how her fiance's health is because I care for him too. They are the most loving couple I've ever been around.

I would be VERY interested in seeing Alexander on your channel again, and I would love to get my hands on any book he's writing. He is SO genuinely intelligent. He helped to remind me of my own capacity for knowledge and intellectual conversations. I feel rather out of place in my town and I don't feel like anyone around here has a fraction of the self-awarness, neutrality and integrity that Alexander does. For that reason, I don't get to have many conversations like this in my personal life. This was a very intetesting video. I love your content so much, Buck. Childhood transition is today’s generation of conversion therapy. That is so profound. If you hyperfocus on anything it will become an obsession, and obsession leads to action. Parents who obsess over what they perceive to be abnormal behavior will become terrified by what they find on the internet and inadvertently push their kids into conversion of either way depending on what they are lead to believe by their values or what they find on the internet. That’s why detransitioners stories are such and important part of the conversation

Great interview thank you for introducing us to Alexander. You pick really interesting people to interview. I am also a baby boomer, a 68 yr old woman. I agree it’s amazing the growth of technology and the effects it has on society is mind boggling. I’ve been learning so much from you and your guests. Originally I tried to talk to my millennial children in order to understand the trans situation. I usually got criticized for asking questions. By natural I’m a very curious person so asking questions and listening to people is how I learn. It seems nowadays asking questions about this subject is considered wrong and it’s implied something is wrong with you. So I could no longer talk to my adult millennial children and their friends about this subject. So I started searching on UA-cam to find out information. I found you and Blaire White. Both of you have been tremendously helpful. Thank you for sticking with the facts and respecting others journeys. Keep up the good work and don’t get pulled in to the naysayers. You’re doing and saying the right things and helping so many people. I know it doesn’t always feel good, I don’t think it’s suppose to. Just keep focused on your path.

Kids need the opportunity to be wrong! They need to know that we understand their feelings but that sometimes humans make mistakes... especially young humans. It's ok to feel this way but because you're young and you're impulsive we're (the parents or sane adults in their lives) gonna steer the ship for now. This video really touches me. As a girl, I loved wearing fluffy dresses, as I climbed trees. I often competed in Math and Science and placed, I was still a girl. I have always enjoyed traits that are stereotypically female and male, that doesn’t change my biology. In the past, non-traditional gender behaviors in children and young adults was called experimentation, and youth were not medically altered or locked into an alternative identity by adults with an agenda. I believe all physical alterations should have to wait until age 25, when the brain is fully developed.

Girls can play with trucks and like science and hang out with boys and like blue and go fishing and wear suits and boys can play with dolls and like literature and hang out with girls and like pink and do ballet and wear dresses. Being gender non confirming does not make you trans. Everyone should be allowed to be themselves so matter how masculine or feminine without being pushed to transition and have a sex change.

As an almost 60 yr old gay woman I’ve been alarmed about the increasing of gender transitions with people who are frankly too young. A few years ago I was acquainted with a 20 something FTM who was taking hormones and planning top surgery. I asked them if it was possible that what they felt was maybe they were just a very butch lesbian and what if they change their mind later. They blew me off like oh well then I’ll just change back like it’s changing shoes. A lot of us old school lesbians actually miss the butch culture as its been lost to transitioning and the non binary folks have become militant even to telling off allies when they accidentally misgender them in conversation.

Thank you for making a safe inclusive place for everyone to learn. I have really struggled to find a forum that isn't extremely polar on topics regarding transitioning and being trans. I just want people to choose whats best for then and be happy and healthy safely.

Thank you Buck for opening up this space for those who may feel they are alone in their journey. This is a strange time we are living in :)

Really enjoyed this! One thing that stood out to me besides the level of intelligence of both parties was when Alexander said that he doesn't feel like he has to be in a romantic relationship to be fulfilled and happy. Maybe that just resonated with me personally. I'm a 55 yr old woman and I just don't have a desire to have a partner in any sense and have really been that way the majority of my life. I hate how society is so quick to label who we are and how we are supposed to live. Thanks to Buck and Alexander for such an eye- opening conversation on topics that I don't know much about. You both made this a fun learning experience.

BUCK, great work and a REAL EYE OPENER !!!! I’m a gay man, and didn’t realize the entire scope of this issue. In my day, we had cross dressers…and sex changes…. And people went DRAG…and were trans sexual. SIMPLE IDEAS!!! The entire gay community went through so much in the past, and to see the lack of respect and disregard of all social challenges we went through is SAD
So. WITH YOUR WORK THAT YOU AND A COUPLE OTHERS DO, YOU SHOULD CREATE A ORGANIZATION OF ALL YOUR GUEST AND ALL PEOPLE WITH THESE ISSUES AND REAL TIME EXPERIENCES TO BE A UNIFIED VOICE!!!
I’m noticing no SINGLE LOUD GROUP IS SCREAMING AT THE COMMUNITY TO LISTEN TO “THESE” STORES !!
The medial and educational and medical fields NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MAL PRACTICED , FALSE NARRATIVE’S, and MIS EDUCATION IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEMS..

Yeah, mainly majority of drag men were basically queer transsexuals. Mainly hyper femme transsexuals. It was part of the cultural shift at the time in the 80s and 90s. It is approximately due to how gay rights were being more recognized and garnering national media coverage and media exposure through headlines, interviews, and talk shows. It is due to the AIDS/HIV virus epidemic in the mid 1980s and early 1990s. But it is contributed to the Stonewall Riots in 69’.

OMG.... this guy is so cool. And he hit the nail on the head when he said 'gender isn't a spectrum, expression is a spectrum'. I am so happy to hear him say that and so frustrated by how hard that is to understand for some people. And it's people on both sides. You're masculine and you're a man, good for you... don't fucking tell other people that they are expressing themselves wrong. And the same goes for people who are choosing to transition, or parents of a child who is transitioning, or whoever. Expression is the spectrum. Gender doesn't have to be (and there's nothing wrong with discovering you want to alter your gender.)

Alexander, you sound wiser than your years. You are a good person, and I enjoyed listening to you. Life is not all about sex. If you want to, you won’t necessarily have to be alone. There are plenty of people out there who enjoy being with a person without sex. Some people enjoy being alone, and some want the companionship. I hope you find yourself, and find what you are looking for in life.

I just discovered this channel and am enjoying, and learning from, these discussions. We really need more of these debates, from people whose personal experiences can help to educate those of us who are pretty mystified by the whole concept of transgender issues.

I am so sorry that you’ve gone through this Alexander. This is got to be a horrific nightmare, and a daily reminder that I believe the general surgery population is just not ready to complete these delicate type surgeries. I’ve seen more botched surgeries that I have success stories, unfortunately! Thank you for coming and talking and letting us all know what has taken place and things of that nature. I have two children who are part of the LGBT community and I am full support of them both 100%! I don’t believe that people in life should ever judge another human being by any means whatsoever, it doesn’t matter how you love, or who you love or matters is, how you treat people and respect! Hoping that the future brings more comfort to you more understanding, and that you were more comfortable in your own skin, because Your life and your words truly do matter 23:08
