Im 50 and been listening to thrash since I was 13. Thrash has a lot of types from blacked thrash to progessive. Its a huge rabbit hole. Welcome and enjoy the ride.
Edward Norton Nice. Lots of great stuff out there in the thrash genre. Exodus, Death Angel, Destruction. I also like Havok a lot. Been around a while, but a “newer” band playing on the classic thrash style .
This has been one of my favorite bands since 88'.... As soon as I heard their first album *"The Legacy"* I was hooked!! Thanks for doing a video with this Great band!! As always, you *ROCK* my friend!!
A friend turned me onto The New Order back in '88, had it cassette...WORE IT OUT! Saw them for Practice What You Preach, Low(2x), I don't get to shows like I used to but I have pretty much everything they've done. One of my all time favs!
Been a lifelong listener and I'm 44 and was lucky to see them a couple of times! I am having a hard time trying to decide which one of their songs' I want played at my funeral.
I lieten to the whole album, and loved it, BUT Chuck Billy needs a bit of work on the lyrics, there was a song about Richard Ramirez the Night Killer which is fine but the song about the Hale Bop comet cult was like whoa.... 1990 something..
Another great reaction Shane, always know a song is good when you get that heavy metal vein pulsing in your forehead! This is one of my favorite records ever, in fact the last 4 Testament albums join the elite of modern metal for sure. It’s amazing to hear these guys get better and better after decades playing! Eric Peterson’s riffs are the primary influence in their song writing, Alex Skolnick is incomparable, truly one of a kind and Chuck Billy’s voice has only gotten better over the years! Steve DiGiorgio is a badass bass player too, most people don’t notice metal bass, but he does slap the shit out of those strings! and Gene Hoglan’s drumming is so unique, epic and effortlessly cool when you watch him play! Now they have Dave Lombardo so that’s no step back either and Paul Bostaph was great on the 2008 album The Formation of Damnation! Here’s a bitchin track from that album which is very under-rated in my opinion. I love how many different changes and parts there are to this track, it defies any sort of traditional song structure. The Persecuted Won’t Forget ua-cam.com/video/0A9_v6LPIVk/v-deo.html Fuck it, this one is even more unique and heavy, it’s about 9/11. I don’t think that subject has ever been touched on in metal. The Evil Has Landed ua-cam.com/video/CLtP8GYdpoY/v-deo.html If you listen to the whole album you’ll be blown away.
Great song!! I am the same. Must have bought the first 7 - 8 Testament albums then kind of fell out. If the rest of this album is this good, I am back!! Sidenote: I like Anthrax, but always felt that Testament should be included in the top 4 of thrash instead of them.
Been a huge fan of testament since practice what you oreach seen them live 3xs and they kill it,from what i heard years ago chuck billy hasmd some form of cancer and he beat it,scholnik has been back in testament for awhile now...The band tankard is some really good thrash metal check em out you'll probably like them...keep on rocking brother shane...
As I've said before I was in the Bay Area when all these thrash bands started coming up. fun fact they used to be called The Legacy. And rumor has it. They're first album was going to be called The Testament. The guys at the record label had a different idea, I guess.
Want to hear my Testament story? Back in the days of the speedway for any of you if your old enough to remember that place. Testament came through with sanctuary and violence? It was pretty funny. I don't know if they were getting along with their drummer or if he just thought he was a rockstar because he had his own van behind the bus that followed them. They were so fucking pissed when they got to the speedway and did not see a wall of sound that they actually made the speedway guys go out and rent more PA, or they would not play. And they had to extend the stage and put special platforms on the side. So they could put six Marshall stacks on each side of the drums, which we all know where empty fucking boxes. Gives you an idea of who you're dealing with. They really thought they were going to be the next Metallica. They are good, but they are not Metallica. Actually at this point. I think they're better than Metallica. Just an opinion. Anyway, on to my story. Me and one of my metal head Buddies. Went to go see the mighty Testament at the speedway which held about 600 people. And there was only about 200 people there and they were not happy. And we were so cool the time because we were guitar Slingers ourselves. And we thought they were pretty overrated at the time? So we just stood in front of them right on the front row. With our arms folded with looks of disgust on our face. And when the mighty Alex skolnick did his guitar solo After it's over. My friend made a yawning motion over his mouth with his hands. And shook his head in disgust and we turned and walked away. To a tirade of fuck you pussy ass bitches from Chuck Billy. Which I thought was pretty funny. Never listen to them my whole life after that. And then I heard dark roots of Earth. And that shit was fucking good. So I go to the depot. For 30-year Brotherhood of the snake concert. And let me tell you it was fucking badass. Testament are coming back to the depot sometime in the next couple of months. And if you like metal, I would recommend going these motherfuckers will tear your ass out. And I don't care much about the drums cuz I'm a guitar player. But I was quite amazed to see this guy that everybody. That is a drummer I know says is the best speed metal drummer on the earth Gene. Hoglan. That dude fucking killed it. And I don't even like drummers. But as I've grown older and tired of watching every guitar player that comes down the pike sweep arpeggios like there's no tomorrow. I find it interesting to watch the bass and drums. These guys fucking killed it. If you love metal do not miss this show. And once again Shane D my friend you have nailed it. Keep up the good work. And if I have anything to say about your videos. I certainly will. If you noticed I've only commented on the ones. But I've seen live. I know this sounds old and feeble. But I don't really like the new mans. Haven't heard one new band in the last 10 years that I like literally. I was getting into this monster thing for a while that had a super badass drummer. But I think he went into retirement. So I quit listening to them.
I think Testament should be in the big four in place of anthrax. Never really did like the anthrax guys kind of weak. not musically by any means But that singer sucks.
Album of the year TESTAMENT the kings of metal
I'm 52 and just discovered Testament - and thrash metal in general - thank God for these guys - they are great

Skolnick is God and those Vocals are brutal. Certified Ass Kicker in my book. Should be Big 5 in my opinion.
I love Testament.
Perfect song.
Cool that Eric share lead vocals with Chuck.

First time viewer. Cool channel. I love this band. Always have. They keep outdoing themselves!
Hello DB thanks for dropping by!!
Shane Diablo my pleasure sir. Just subscribed and looking forward to more videos.
A banger. And hearing Eric Peterson screech those lines (I think it’s him and not Billy) is badass.
I lieten to the whole album, and loved it, BUT Chuck Billy needs a bit of work on the lyrics, there was a song about Richard Ramirez the Night Killer which is fine but the song about the Hale Bop comet cult was like whoa.... 1990 something..
