What an amazing area Eddie. Reminds me a lot of Cornwall, with a bit of Hebrides mixed in. So yes, I do I have to visit there! 🙂

Hi Julian, I love heading down there, so much to see and so much history, I’m always finding out about new places that I wonder how I missed it before. Will hopefully get to Cornwall or indeed the Hebrides at some stage, just to confirm 😬😉 thanks again. 👍🏻

Hi Eddie, your videos are amazing. It's clear to see you love the Dingle Peninsula. I am walking the Dingle way next week solo so I plan on really taking my time to take in as.much as I can.
This video was particularly insightful and you certainly crammed quite a lot in so thank you. I am walking the traditional route, Tralee to Camp to Annascaul etc., could i bother you to find out how many of these sites are on the or close to the walking trail? Or would you recommend more sites closer to the trail that may not have been included in this video?
If you'd have time to break worthy visit sites into stages or as i'd meet them on my way id be ever so grateful. I can forward an email address if that's easier for you to respond to?
    Regards,
    James.

      @eddieforde  2 місяці тому

      Hi James,
      thanks for the nice comment.
It's a beautiful place, and yea I love heading down there.
I haven't walked the Dingle way myself but looking at the maps a good shot of these are either on it or close by.
In this video, all bar the first two locations, are between Slea Head and Brandon.
On the first section of the Dingle way itself, whether there are any "worthy" diversions is debatable. For example, Annascaul Lake is nice, would it be worth the 8km round trip to see it off the route, I wouldn't be so sure.
I love the mountains, but I've never heard of anyone taking a diversion from doing the Dingle way to do one of them. If you were based in the area for a while it would be more feasible.
The reasoning with this video was these are a lot of places that aren't probably worth a diversion on their own, but all together make for a busy day.
For this video in particular these are ones I'd recommend, (making out what I can from the dingle way maps.)
      1. It looks like you go very close to Dun an Oir, but don't actually get to it, it looks like it's only a Short diversion, and would be worth it.
      2. Looks like Gallarus Oratory isn't directly on it, I think that might be worth it cause its a building that appears on all the advertising etc.
      3. Cathair na bhFionnurach under Brandon is fascinating and looks like it might not be too much of a diversion.
      4. The biggest one for me tho would be when going over the mountains from Fenoagh to Cloghane. It's worth taking the spur out to Sauce Creek. You can either go out and back or do the loop out to Brandon Point, but it does make a long tough day longer yet again. I've met people a few times and they weren’t aware of it, but others were, so im not sure if there are different maps or just that they find out along the way.
At the bottom of the description are chapter makers with the locations. You could google map them and decide if its worth the diversions also.
It's funny that having spent so much time down there, that I've never done any of it, I suppose when I can just pop in and out if it,, it's easier for me.
It's a fairly well established walk by all accounts and especially in the summer I always meet people on some section of it.
I hope you have a fantastic time doing it and that the weather plays ball :)
      Ed

Hi Eddie. I watched a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. Can you please tell me the name of the Glen near Dingle that you done a video on I can't find it. The story about the Glen was about a local who murdered someone and was seen and reported by a local within the clan. This man was brought to Tralee and hanged. I would like to visit this Glen. TIA and keep the video's coming

Hi John, thanks for following along. I believe you’re asking about Rabachs Glen , which is on the Beara Peninsula. I I mentioned it in the Cumeengeera Horseshoe video ua-cam.com/video/SvkIC8VBmBA/v-deo.htmlsi=RyOVcaCc8UFSCcYc
Here’s a link to an Irish Times article on it www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/travel/go-walk-rabhach-s-glen-beara-peninsula-co-kerry-1.2111484
