i think this video beautifully illustrates how everyone you see can be a protagonist if you simply shift your perspective
also how everyone is so much more connected than we realize
Or how we could be more connected if we did realize....
at the end of the day, we're all just trying our best to be our best. But no one is perfect.
How so? I love creative music videos yet here all I see is various, random scenes with zoom in. I don't see a plot.
@@MusicOrLoseItTVPlaylists The plot is emotional. Various people all longing for connection - connection they once had (with the first character), connection with someone who's standing right next to them, etc. The original song (that this is a cover of), tonally, focuses on the *beauty* of that. The ease of getting lost in someone else's world. *This* comment seems to focus more on the simple beauty of having a world full of interesting people. The music video's tone is different too, and seems to indicate a sadness that comes when we are unable to cross the barrier between people, or when we become so absorbed in their life, that we cannot appreciate our own, and where we are right now.
It's all just suggested at, imo.
@@MusicOrLoseItTVPlaylists There's no plot, but it's not random.
Being born in 77 and a 90's kid, I was skeptical of a cover, of such an amazing song, but it is splendidly done. The video is absolutely superb, and is the epitome of visual communication. It tells many different stories, that are basically just the story of life, and how we are all connected more closely than we acknowledge on an everyday basis. It's easier said than done in a world getting crazier every minute, but it is true, always try to be kind, because you never know what someone else may be going through.
Dinosaur Jr does a pretty good cover..
The Sega Bodega & Eartheater cover is ethereal
This song specifically is super coverable
I was born in 77 too! And this song is definitely a master piece from my junior year! I’m gonna keep listening to it until I die!
For as long as I can remember (the original was released the year I was born), Fade Into You was always being played in the background. I never thought to ask why, but sometimes it would make my mom cry. Now I’m watching this video through tears. She would have loved this cover. She would be 55 today. Love you, Ma.
This music video is deeply depressing and warm at the same time...I love it.
The music is great to listen after a heart break driving alone in a empty highway toward the sunset.
I was feeling really emotional today, reminiscing on past relationships i've had with people, and this video just made me cry really hard. Being a human is a really beautiful experience, filled with different kinds of moments, people, joys, tears, love, hate, all sorts of emotions, they're so powerfull that they can physically ache. The video made me think about all of the lives and experiences of the people i've met, and how they are doing at this precise moment.
I'm a young fella, 18 right now, but If theres one advice I can share, is try to live the most you can, you will not regret it, these moments are worth it, this moment is.
In 7th grade a girl fell in love with me and I thought she was a weird nerd. Several years later I moved back to my hometown and saw her again and instantly fell in love with her. She sent me the original of this song along with “Lay Lady Lay” and those two songs still remind me of her to this day. She married another guy who was on and off with her for years, but I still think of her and always with the thought “that’s what falling in love feels like”. Have never felt it (lasting) since, 20 years later
I’d buy you a round if I could. You’re not alone
@@jovanjones9083 I appreciate the gesture. I’ve tried to drown my loneliness with substances for years. I recently was able to pull out of it after a year of heavy nightly drinking. Still the hurt persists
I don’t think we often realize that opportunities like that, don’t come very often in life. For some, it never does. So even though things don’t always turn out as we hope for, we need to remember to be grateful we at least felt it…even if it’s only for a brief moment.
This perfectly captures that feeling of always having eyes on you, where you feel trapped inside of yourself. Haunting music video, couldn't look away for a single second.
I watched this 3 times before realizing the entire video is edited in the style of 8mm full frame like in an old film reel. I don't know why, but damn does that add depth to an already beautiful composition.
what do you mean with 8mm full frame? it's probably shot on 4 perf 35mm.
i really hope a new album drops soon. thought ill miss Steve Lamos, the joy and energy he brought to the drumming and trumpet was awesome and unique, American Football will not be the same without him. and he will be missed.
Duuuude, I hadn’t gotten the news until now. . .
Super upset after hearing this.
His creative mind is one in a million. There are a lot of skilled drummers, but how many can come up with Stay Home drums over that guitar lines?
The guy just see the song beyond the song and come up with unpredictable one of a kind drums.
No one drums like Lamos, but if they're gonna find a replacement, it should be that guy from Covet (Forrest Rice)
@ghost mall he left AF last year
@ghost mall Heres a direct Quote from Steve Lamos
“After many years with American Football, my life situation has changed. Unfortunately, I now need to move on from the band,”
My guess is that Steve either has other professional responisbilities looming, Lamos actually became a professor of english at the University of Colorado during American Football's 15 year haitus inbetween LP1 and LP2
Maybe something in his personal life is preventing him from fully commiting to the band, but i gather from his response that this departure feels mutual and personal, its doesnt feel sour or toxic, maybe he even outgrew being in the band for all we know. heres another quote from Lamos
“I wish you all the best as the band moves on to its next phase. Finally, I’d like to thank AF fans: you have provided me with some truly amazing experiences-and some truly amazing memories. I’m deeply grateful.”
For whats its worth, I believe Lamos was the beatting heart of American Football, the drumming and trumpeting he played on "Never Meant", "Stay Home", "The One With The Wurlitzer", as well as on the most recent LP3 with "Doom in Full Bloom", "Every Wave to Ever Rise," and "Silhouettes" showcasing his incredible talents and musicanship, and his contributions to American Football cannot be understated.
big hurtie
real sad
very pain
Big empty
massive depression
This brought me to tears. Incredible
ahhh, the trumpets. never gets old
I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take the breath that's true
I look to you, and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life, you go in shadows
You'll come apart, and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
A stranger's light comes on slowly
A stranger's heart without a home
You put your hands into your head
And then smiles cover your heart
You live your life, you go in shadows
You'll come apart, and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
I think it's strange you never knew
Thanks!!!
❤
For those who don't know, a beautiful band called Mazzy Star preformed the original Fade Into You.
Enjoy the gorgeous rabbit hole, friends.
This is better
@@Fortyjustice delusional
That whole album man
Honestly, respect for the cover, but this probably doesn't even top the Dinosaur Jr. cover.
remember when mark kozelek rip fade into you and made "Song For A Blue Guitar"?
Love Miya Folick in this ❤
everyone is dealing with their own shit. this hits hard differently. what a song and video. American Football is lifesource.
thank you
Came for the Miya Folick collab, stayed for the haunting visuals
I’m convinced there’s not a single bad cover of this song.. this just confirmed it
bet, imma make a cover this
the concept for this video is genius, mad props and big ups
Whoever did this music video--------excellent job. It is like the 2022 manifestation of the Mazzy Star song. Excellent job. It reminds me of watching the movie Magnolia.
This is one of the best music videos I've seen in a good while.
I love this cover, and I love this video even more
I knew I recognized the girl from the thumbnail. Miya Folick has such a nice voice and she definitely made Hope Sandoval proud with this. I'd totally recommend hearing "thingamajig" from Miya
Tough to even approach this as a cover, but I think you guys did a great job. Your music is already haunting and bleak so this song fits you like a glove. The original will always be one of my favorite songs ever. I was a teen in the 90s and few songs summed up how it felt at that time quite like Mazzy Star did with Hope Sandoval's haunting af vox just permeating my every fiber of existence.
Nothing will ever be able to compare to Hope Sandoval's delivery, but this is surprisingly good. Big shoes to fill, and well done.
Solid cover and love the 'Slacker' type theme to the video.
Me too!
literally one of my favorite videos and covers of all time. Thank you
Jesus Christ when those guitars hit when the old man is playing pinball. Magical
For anyone who doesn't know this is a beautiful song by Mazzy Star who were an amazing band in the 90s/2000s. Also this is an awesome cover 🙂
Wonderful and poignant as ever. Got the new EP preordered as soon as they became available on both special editions. With that it should complete the discography of every special edition cd, tape, and vinyl, and even test pressings of American football, Their / Theyre/ There, and Owen. Very excited to see it come to completion.
Owen! That name brings me right back to a certain time in my life... Glad to hear that you're collecting and documenting something quite special
You are not alone,
Don't be sad too long for loosing someone.
They didn't trully leave us.
That's the massage i get from watching this great MV!
so real it's surreal
First time here. I was actually watching UA-cam videos of a really good band Indie band called Chinese Football and in the comment section people were comparing them to this band, ironically enough called American Football and how they are both in a similar genre and both very good, so here I am to check it out for myself. It's very good so far, this is the first song I'am listening to and I like it a lot. Will definitely check out more of their music right now. Meanwhile, check out Chinese Football as well. You will be pleased.
Between this and the Rachel Goswell feature on their last album, I have a feeling these guys were always shoegazers at heart
This is a proper cover 🙏🏼
Such a pilgrimage to me to be finally able to went to your concert after waiting for like 14 years
pls make another album :( don't disband
Man, you took one of the best melancholy songs of all time & loaded it with menace & sadness - great video as well...
sitting in a hotel room in a strange town at 6am watching this and I look over to the door and there is one of those weird light thingies just like in the video. W O A H.
Ah, those good goddamn morning tears, that's what I needed in my coffee. Thanks for this art.
timeless love for a timeless song ❤
I love how the guy with the gold rimmed sunglasses is maybe the only person who was happy in both his scenes. Got a hot babe and having fun at the arcade.
One of my favorite band covering one of my favorite songs from another band i love, sick
What an incredibly beautiful video. I'm mad I didn't think of this concept for my own work. Huge props to everyone involved
Okay this was the best cover/remake of this song.
criminally slept on
literally each cover of this song is beautiful and ethereal
Such a smart and overdue cover
of a CLASSIC
Ooooooh the muscle memories
come back to England on tour. your Hammersmith show the other year will stay with me forever.
For those that don't know, Owen (aka real name Mike Kinsella) is American Football.
This video is so supremely brilliant. good grief.
I never realized how awesome this music video is
We will miss Steve but American football is much more than its members. This video hits really hard, but in a beautiful way. Just loved it.
Song doesn't need a remake
It’s not a remake. It’s a cover. A remake is a very limited way of thinking about it and implying they're trying to replace the original when in reality they're paying homage to a beautiful song with their own rendition.
Beautiful, you bring new color to Mazzy's. ❤️
"The mass of (hu)mans lead lives of quiet desperation, and go to the grave with the song still in them"
american football forever
It's got a deftones feeling to it, very nicely done.
More like Team Sleep but, yeah.
This is a sick cover 👍
This hit me in the feels
SEDIH MOMENT BOISSSS :' AND I'LL ALWAYS MISS YOU STEVEEEEEEE
:(
Damn that story is sad and beautiful
I would jam to this version and the original :'))
One of my favorite songs. Very nice interpretation….I’m going to like and subscribe….
I love this band! Thank you ...
Reminds me of the era of radically different 2000s covers
One of my favorite mazy star songs by one of my favorite bands. So goooooooooood
This will take 20 years before people really like this song

damn the productions is phenomenal
Beautiful cover 😍
A beautiful song is a beautiful song it matters not who sings it the joy comes from the lyrics only one person knows where they came from but this is just as beautiful I'll take nothing away. ❤🎶 😊
video kinda giving twin peaks
being sad never was so good
Yay Miya!!!
This sounds like Paolo Nutini's version a little bit. This is beautiful.

Covering this is like reaching for the stars. Takes some balls to even try
beautiful
This video is beautifully bittersweet
Never heard of American Football. This probably appeared on my feed because I've been watching Mazzy Star videos. I was totally prepared to hate this cover but ended up loving it.
wow
So beautiful!:D
Best time is in youth.
Fuck it, Dude. Let's go bowling.
The Dude abides.
