Do you ever paint the hair on the models, or do you let the black primer coat handle that area? I dab some light brown on the backs of the heads on my 6mm 7 Years' War troops to help make the black cocked hats stand out more.
Usually, i do leave the black, because the brown wash I make slightly tints it so its not so stark a black. Other times I use Leather brown if i feel like it during the highlighting step.

An hour is very good. Hope Warlord expand with Austrians or Russians, in that order.
