I listened a lot to Chopin and started to play piano because of an injury i had in my neck and back.. also because I was so inspired by his music... When I went back to the guitar two years after the injury had healed and my musical style changed forever... Chromatics can be so unbelievably beautiful...
Pro tip. Learn one of Rick's licks and when you are playing just pull one out randomly and the people will be suprised. Then go back to simple pentatonic Xd.
I didn't follow or understand it's value...until the end when the letters began appearing - then the perfection of it HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS. Jesus, Rick...you're a mage!

I love this And one of the reasons I do is because it almost immediately had me thinking of half steps in terms of the way I hear them and sing them in an entirely new way. For years as a vocalist the halfstep interval has given me the most trouble. I begin to understand this once I also understood that the harmonic overtone series but half step is actually quite a far distance away whereas we think of a half step as a closest distance one can go in the harmonic overtone series it’s not. For some reason this was the first time I just stopped thinking about this and just sung it as half steps it was really fun I think this also has something to do with the fact that it was in the middle register of my voice so it was in was considered to be the Tesora tour of my voice and most instrumentalists in my experience would not have played in exercise like this in that place so thank you I loved it because I’ll get to practices and there were plenty of mistakes that I need to correct in my own imitation of it. I love Singing jazz so this will be very useful
Chromatic mean every note. So just think of that as playing notes that aren't already in the scale. Neighbour tones means you're playing notes a semi-tone up or down from the scale tone.

Lord Beato, have you any step-by-step masterclass that a small fry could use to become even half as skillful as yourself? I could literally listen to your mini tutorials as music and would be better than half of the music I listen to. And I was a band geek too, so you know I listen to orchestral/choir/some acapella/ as well as your usual radio music
My God Rick one thing I found out playing catch up now that I've gotten somewhere I need to repair my guitar or I'm standing on tonight do you know of any places in the Long Island vicinity that are reputable by recommendation?
Quick suggestion, i think putting in chords that you can very clearly hear as a backing track while showing a scale is much better, and that weird effect you put on your guitar makes it really hard to understand what youre explaining fully in a musical context
Quick lesson: when playing the blues scale just add the M9th 1 2 b3 4 b5 bb6 b7 The mustaine scale Aeolian b5 bb6 6th mode of melodic minor #5 (Or one of those) like that Great lesson Rick! Never stop man
It's just a dom 7 sus 4 b6 That's all Everyone knows that arppegio right? No big deal! You crack me up man! You forgot the 9! Just add the 9th and the 5th man Mixb6 yeah

Simple pentatonics are always a great way to resolve stuff anyway lmao.
I am practicing guitar all day, every day, and I am starting to be able to cognitively digest lessons like this.
Some of that reminded me of cliffs of dover
Glad it wasn't just me
.. a few cliffhanger tones to resolve this melody and take it home. Done in excellent fashion. 🙏

Using Diminished and Augmented runs to connect Maj/Min with Melodic and Harmonic scales is where I'm heading with it. Great example Rick!
That solo is awesome! Like telling a mystical story of mystery and intrigue.

I can’t stop watching your videos. So much greatness to absorb!
We want an instrumental album.
Thank you for the chords on screen! You rock!

Your hands are mesmerizing on the fretboard man geez
Every example you play is just fantastic

Reminds me of Matt Pike of High on Fire/Sleep...
()
I understand the theory but for me it Is impossibile to navigate the fretboard like that
You never cease to amaze me Rick , I really have to start stealing all these ideas, thank you so much!
This is wicked! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Gonna have to learn these but slower

Is that some kind of meme or are there people who can actually follow?.... Anyways love your channel! :)

Why don't you just play a little faster ? Guess you just like hearing yourself. Great teacher !!
Damn but that's good !
Very nice
sounds menacing.
Savage
How come I have no idea how to play this?
Please Rick give us an Album!
'Quick Lessons Part 1'
Someone's been practicing his Guthrie lines since that video
Sounds good but I don't know what a chromatic neighbour tone is
Yeah play a flat 6 in the middle of your lines and everyone will think it’s a sharp 5 ! Way to fool’em Rick !🎸
Woah
Quick lesson I'm going to say a thing and then I'm not going to explain it. Oh wait that's not a lesson is it. Damn it rick
My god
It would be cool if it sounded good.

Gives me Eric Johnson vibes
Heard that Cliffs of Dover riff…noice.
This lighting tho
@rickbeato is one of the best guitarists that aren't famous for playing. He can play anything at anytime.
Now how am I suppose to follow that slow d. O. W n
It's almost infuriating how good rick is cuz id love to hear more like actual songs but they're just lessons
Wow those keys sound great
Learned a similar pattern at my second guitar lesson.
Rick Is a máster.. he needs to make a theory book and sell It... Please Rick
What a masterful way to employ chromatics and the consonant landing spots rhythmically are beautiful 😍
Still waiting for the Rick Beato solo album
My God Rick one thing I found out playing catch up now that I've gotten somewhere I need to repair my guitar or I'm standing on tonight do you know of any places in the Long Island vicinity that are reputable by recommendation?
Any chance you could cover the new August is Falling release?
Quick suggestion, i think putting in chords that you can very clearly hear as a backing track while showing a scale is much better, and that weird effect you put on your guitar makes it really hard to understand what youre explaining fully in a musical context
Why do you never make melodies? Your solos sound like scale practice, is that the point?
Just like that :). Done.
You know these lil videos are mental, right?
Quick lesson: when playing the blues scale just add the M9th
1 2 b3 4 b5 bb6 b7
The mustaine scale
Aeolian b5 bb6
6th mode of melodic minor #5
