When using it with sip, is it possible to preview the video when someone rings at the door, before answering the call? I am not able to do it with my current sip doorbell. Also, is the infrared active as soon as the light is too low? My current doorbell activates the infrared only when answering a call.

Provided that you use the R20K with Akuvox indoor monitors you will be able to preview and unlock the door without first answering the call. A feature called ‘early media’.
With regards to IR illumination, this is automatic based on light levels so should meet your expectations.
