- Canoo’s skateboard is uniquely modular, offering a truly self-contained, fully functional electric vehicle chassis, so much so that it can be driven entirely independently. To prove it, we added just a steering wheel and a racing seat, creating the “skatekart", and sent it to California's high desert to put it to the test with professional racing driver Sara Price. Sara whipped it around a dry lake, maxing out our powertrain and the industry’s first true Steer-by-Wire system. Steer-by-Wire eliminates the need for mechanical connections between the steering wheel and the tires on the road, and allows the steering wheel to be moved to suit any cabin design or driver position.
Our skateboard serves as the core technological backbone for each of Canoo’s upcoming products. Using the world’s flattest skateboard for all of our future consumer and business vehicles allows us to maximize interior volume on a compact exterior footprint, and rapidly scale new vehicle programs faster and for a fraction of the cost.

I like the design of the van for Uber/Lyft in the city. I could definitely see it being a big hit. For me personally I'm waiting on a smaller car design.

soooooo much potential here... for one thing this would be a dope go cart/street buggy type thing... just add roll bars and some perimeter padding etc.. keep it industrial looking.... also make sure you guys at Canoo make something with a high ground clearance.. maybe a way to jack up the skateboard on a sort of pivoting connection.

Looks great. I thought GM had the right idea with the Hy-Wire (2002) so long ago. Unfortunately, corps change leadership and nothing became of that. I'm glad Canoo found a partnership with Hyundai. I hope this becomes successful against the other modular "board" chassis ideas from Tesla, audi, VW, rivian and others. The future of mobility is very bright with the various autonomous auto companies, these skateboard chassis designs, and advances in on demand manufacturing.

I'm guessing, the idea is that the skateboard is constant but the rider can change. The skateboard is the bottom platform which stays constant and the top can be configured in different options (different rider)
