I grew up people sitting next to me and eating beef. I had no issues with that. Now my daughters are totally vegetarian by choice so when we go out to eat or they come home I eat my meat and fish. I tell them I respect their vegetarianism they also have to respect my non vegetarian food.

The theme song is quite good but honestly after so many years it's time to change it as it doesn't really resonates with what we see in the videos. It's honestly tiring to watch this in each video similarly. This whole series of Shillong should have been skipped by Mir. After watching the menu full of pork he ran away from this restaurant lol .
i think what he could ve done is clearly state that because of his religious reasons, he is not able to consume pork (absolutely within his right), but still give company to Foodka......but then again, his choice......
Ohh wooow! I am so happy to see sorrel leaves in the cooking! I would not have thought it grows in India, a lovely discovery! I have sorrel growing in my garden and I have made a video of cooking salmon with sorrel leaves. I wish that aunty had a channel of her own that I could watch. Thank you for this lovely video! Edit: the European variety sorrel has much broader leaves compared to Gangura as per my research on Google. There may be a difference in taste too but mostly sour.
Really enjoying this series..... Has been to Meghalaya 4 yrs back but was not aware of the varities of food available......very helpful and informative vlog...... inspired me to revisit Meghalaya!!! Looking forward to the next episode......
Food has no boundary and no religion. Its a question of availability in terms of geography, local economy and traditions. What we are not comfortable with, we should not eat. Foodka is a series about food. So we expect the hosts to be food expert. And both the hosts had played their part wonderfully well till now except for this episode. Hosting a food series without tasting the food is not how you do the job. Mir could have stayed out of the entire episode but he chose to be a part of the episode except for trying the food. This is ridiculous. I have seen works of food experts like Sony and there is lots to learn from him. The words of Mir at the Khasi restaurant makes him a good human but does not qualify him for hosting a food series. If you can not get rid of your dogmatic religious principles why do you host a food series? It is entirely your choice what you will have as food and what you will not for an individual. But if as an individual you are adamant of not trying a particular dish why do you host a food series or at least why do you make yourself a part of an episode where the dish is served. P.S. Ohh man, that Khasi thaali looks so good. That pork looks like the black sesame pork. I've eaten so many yummy meals in the simplest of tea shops in Meghalaya that have pork smoking above their fire. Guess, Bhaipo doesn't eat pork. That's cool. Everyone has the freedom to eat whatever they wish. As I am a hardcore traveler & foodie, I will not hesitate to try anything the hosts have to offer.

Always loved the content of foodka episodes...never had any complaints however today I felt a little disappointed...last episode e Mir dar ekta statement niye onek criticism hoyechilo regarding the use of the words northeast and Indian food...but I felt it was unnecessary coz Mir da might not have intended to differentiate Northeast and India by his statement for sure...it was purely an unintentional mistake but ajker episode er shurute specifically oi statement ba scene ta recap korata was intentional and it was insensitive (my perspective)
Sadly, the stereotypes of the North East are so strong in people who haven't visited there previously. Khasi food is so different to Naga food, which is so different to Mizo food, which is so different to Manipuri food. Its like clubbing Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra & Tamil Nadu food as South Indian food. Each cuisine has so many unique dishes & flavors.

Foodka is a series about food. So we expect the hosts to be food expert. And both the hosts had played their part wonderfully well till now except for this episode. Hosting a food series without tasting the food is not how you do the job. Mir could have stayed out of the entire episode but he chose to be a part of the episode except for trying the food. This is ridiculous. I have seen works of food experts like Sony and there is lots to learn from him. The words of Mir at the Khasi restaurant makes him a good human but does not qualify him for hosting a food series. If you can not get rid of your dogmatic religious principles why do you host a food series? It is entirely your choice what you will have as food and what you will not for an individual. But if as an individual you are adamant of not trying a particular dish why do you host a food series or at least why do you make yourself a part of an episode where the dish is served. P.S. Have immense respect for the job Mir does otherwise would not have commented.

Couldn't say good words about this loved/ hyped place i.e Trattoria as I was literally down with diarrhoea after having a Khasi Chicken Platter. Wouldn't comment much about Mir's absence.

I can connect to what you are referring to and lot of nostalgia for me. Hopefully will connect with you someday to discover more. Ohh man, that Khasi thaali looks so good. That pork looks like the black sesame pork. I've eaten so many yummy meals in the simplest of tea shops in Meghalaya that have pork smoking above their fire. Guess, Bhaipo doesn't eat pork. That's cool. Everyone has the freedom to eat whatever they wish. As I am a hardcore traveler & foodie, I will not hesitate to try anything the hosts have to offer.

In Shilong there is a Bengali hotel call Suruchi.. they served so well you will love that if you are craving for Bengali food in Shilong. Try that..
Suruchi used to be there even in the early 90s, they were a bit costly, but food was splendid......had many lunches there...
It's nothing but giving things a spin.I guess, Mir has a discomfort ( and there's nothing wrong with it, it's his choice) sharing a table where pork dishes are laid out. At Tratorria, there were other platters which I suppose Mir could have had.

Always loved the content of foodka episodes...never had any complaints however today I felt a little disappointed...last episode e Mir dar ekta statement niye onek criticism hoyechilo regarding the use of the words northeast and Indian food...but I felt it was unnecessary coz Mir da might not have intended to differentiate Northeast and India by his statement for sure...it was purely an unintentional mistake but ajker episode er shurute specifically oi statement ba scene ta recap korata was intentional and it was insensitive (my perspective)

Sadly, the stereotypes of the North East are so strong in people who haven't visited there previously. Khasi food is so different to Naga food, which is so different to Mizo food, which is so different to Manipuri food. Its like clubbing Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra & Tamil Nadu food as South Indian food. Each cuisine has so many unique dishes & flavors.
