In this one I challenged Dean Gleeson, who was recently voted the UK's Best Barber to cut my grown out thinning and Balding hair. There were 2 rules to the challenge. No shaved head and no trying to make it look like I had a full head of hair. We wanted to get a cool style out of what I had and I think Dean absolutely did just that. Coining this one the "Baldcafe Double Blend"

Your vulnerability combined with your confidence is quite lovely. No loss of masculinity at all, just the opposite! This was a privilege to watch, as a female who loves seeing haircuts (male and female) this was very refreshing, and totally positive.
This is EXACTLY what we need! People suffering hair loss shouldn't feel pressured to either shave it all off or to get a hair transplant/wig. You've still got hair, why not have fun with it? The cut feels a little unusual, as we don't see balding men with dope haircuts, but it definitely looks good. Can see it catching on, hope more men will embrace their hair, no matter how much they've got 💯

I agree. Worth a try, but the dark hair simply is creating a framing device to showcase a bald top of the head, which does tend to look old man ish. Id go just low stubble all round, not necessarily super bold to the skin.

At first I was like "just do a complete shave", but then with the turtleneck pictures at the end, this really works for the "smart look", gives off Steve Jobs vibes, an awesome option for men, that want to own the half-bald head look!

Baldness really sucks . I have dealt with it since my early 20’s . So glad that it doesn’t totally consume me nowadays like it did when I was younger.
I honestly think that is a terrific haircut that is professionally executed. He worked with the available hair and created some remarkable contrast or fade. That should be part of your arsenal. I think style is just what we feel confident wearing, regardless of it may first be perceived. If you're confident wearing any style, people will "perceive" it positively. So it is more about the person's confidence than anything else.

Exactly what I was thinking. Couple of tram lines on one side to break it up a bit. It will take the emphasis off the top a bit then as the eyes will be drawn to the lines.

It looks good on you mate especially with the beard. I’m getting some Steve Jobs/Keith from the Prodigy vibes! With your help I have really come to terms with my own balding and am really comfortable now with anything between a grade 1 and zero guard and love it! That said I have been tempted to grow it out and see what happens! Thanks always for your inspiration mate 😎

In my opinion it is better, cleaner than the before.
Because I was balding for a long time I developed some sort of anxiety for the barbers. Even if I had the balls to get this hairstyle, I wouldn't keep it. Having it all trimmed at a zero would still be my preference.

Power move for sure! I do admire the guys who can rock the donut with confidence. At my age I stick with the shave but I’m trying to get more comfortable with the shadow. I’m quite pale so there’s really no hiding it even with a fresh shave.
I think the real challenge is to walk with this cut cause it’s so unusual

Your video challenged me to rid my scalp of the balding/thinning top and sport a shaved top "power haircut". I've had a total shave before, but this cut proves to me, friends, and family that I'm OK being bald and actually PROUD and good looking, with this new "old man haircut".
I encourage other guys to give it a try.
Looks great! I have a similar hairline/MPB. I’ve shaved it cleaned, had a buzz cut, and grown it out to see how things look. Right now it’s pretty long on top I feel like I need to do something different and will definitely consider this cut. I know a lot of people say just shave it off and I personally don’t care for the look on myself but think a lot of others can pull it off.

It’s all right. Maybe a little different, but it looks good. For myself, with a shaved head, I just am so happy to be done with the barbershop routine and expense. Not that I didn’t like my barber, but it’s just one less thing to worry about. Thanks for having the guts to do this.
This double blend is absolutely amazing ! I have done a bit of experimenting myself by shaving my bald spot in back especially and forward as well. This type of style actually highlights and shows off how good male pattern baldness actually looks . I thought I was the only one so I'm glad you're rocking this ! High-5 to you Harry !

That looks great! It is a shame hair grows so fast. How nice would it be to keep it just like that for awhile? Before you know it, the day is over. A sleep cycle happens, and when you wake up, it slowly becomes not quite the same. It really does look so great. So different. You must have felt one of a kind. Nobody that you see has that style. Amazing work. Amazing stuff.

Y’know what I actually don’t hate it! Personally I’d probably fade it a little lower or less intense so there’s more weight on the sides but this is very intriguing… might just try it myself!
I agree. Lower fade and the bottom should probably be a 1/2 or a 1 and then up to a 1.5 or a 2 blended.

One thing I miss about barber visits is that it was one of the only times I had any "me time", which as a guy is pretty infrequent. This cut goes to show that even if you've gone bald fully on top, you can, if you're comfortable with the style, still get that barber experience and fresh feeling of a good hair cut. Great work as always my friend. I'm still shaving (from out chat last year). Steve (the wrestling ref who likes ghosts lol).

Great video! Quality cut, but your DIY buzz/shaves look better for you. I’ve been a blade shaver for years, and based on your earlier video I’ve let it grow out here and there. Got to tell you it’s been good. A quality head+face shave takes me 15-20 mins. It’s nice to skip that and have a second coffee and watch some bald cafe on the days where I want to chill in the morning. Keep the videos coming, and consider broadening the channel. The latest content shows that all gentlemen can appreciate what you do, not just your fellow bald dudes. Thanks

Looks great imho. This was my go to cut 10 years ago and I was always satisfied with the final look. The problem though is that in order to keep the cut looking it’s best, I had to have it redone every month otherwise it aged me by a decade. I wound up buying a pair of clippers, and did a weekly shave to the scalp.

Lol, it definitely looks better than it did before! Definitely a look with the fit, almost like a wealthy aristocrat who isn’t the least bit concerned by a bald top. This definitely shows confidence, but I think nothing beats the classic, clean head shave with the good ol razor. Definitely grow the beard out more and then blend/fade the beard toward the top by the ears with the classic bald shave!
