      To bear and not to own;

      for just letting go
      is what makes it stay.

      @@rupert-japan Nothing of a life? We have such funny perspectives of ourselves. I think a lot of us younger city folk feel swallowed up by consumerism and the idea of success/failure. You should smell a certain way, look a certain way, talk a certain way, and don't forget about how you express yourself on social media because everybody expects you to have one. Say the wrong thing and a mob comes after you with the rampant cancel culture. If you can't keep up then you're a "loser". You have escaped the heavy burden and watching eyes (besides this video of course) of the modern era. You have something many of us are too scared to try, but so desire. Those last words of "an open mind to losing everything" is very true, sadly most are too closed in. It's beautiful to see those who are living life the way it is intended - along side nature with care. I hope to one day follow in your steps, and I hope you're doing well! 💚

    • @goognamgoognw6637
      @goognamgoognw6637 Рік тому +1

      @@ArsonisticElmo good comment, and i'll add it takes decades of life experience (and beating) to wisen up and realize that how society wants you to live your life is not how you should live it, your life is yours and the earth isn't theirs either. You'll find that after you've exhausted the silly empty goals society falsely glamorizes as "success" you'll discover what really matters is not at all what they prioritize. It's much simpler, it's much more wholesome and humble. You have to accept and see that you're only a temporary traveller through life before you get the answers and the way to live your life correctly. That's why it's mostly people in the second half of their lives who find the way.

I dont think the beams are bengara added, otherwise it would go matte when mixed with Kakishibu (we are using both in our rennovation for non-visual wood, with only Kakishibu for wood that can be seen, and Coat G for external wood). The previous occupant was a daiku, so I inherited a whole lot of old hand tools. Some of which I am actually using that cant be done by Makita battery tools :)

      @@bertroost1675 Careful with that wording "the right immigrants". Immigrants come to do the KKK type jobs here in Japan. The only real walls preventing this are restrictive immigration laws and resistance from the local population. Neither of these will be changed by immigration. Low population replacement is occuring because of lack of support and lack of money going to prospective parents. Japan has done virtually nothing to make serious improvements in this area for natives or immigrants alike. The issues here are all self inflicted by poor governance, incompetence and corporate greed. I do not expect this to improve any time soon.

    What a wonderful existence. Question: are there property taxes in Japan and if so, how much? Many times in the US we manage to pay off our homes as we age only to be priced out by high property taxes.

    • @veganryori
      @veganryori Рік тому

      Houses are worthless after a while in Japan, only the land is sold. Most people buy land with a house on, demolish it, and build a new one.

    • @Bristecom
      @Bristecom Рік тому +5

      Yep, there are no longer any states in the US that have zero property tax. You will always have to pay the government at least a few thousand a year to own a home/land, which means you never really own anything and cannot really be free. But I suppose that's mostly irrelevant because corporations like BlackRock have purchased almost every open land/home in the US and have manipulated the market so that most people cannot afford anything anyway. Even rent is too expensive these days so we're basically being priced out of living. I'm considering moving to another country like the Philippines because the USA is becoming an unaffordable and terrible place to live.
