When-at 19-I first heard O's work, I was convinced that there was hope for the world if such sound could exist in it and there were people who could create it. Still do.
Franklin P. Uroda same here. I just wonder if there are any other artist who are absolutely fabulous and I will never listen to them because I don't get to know about them.
Ah, yes, I remember I danced to this music in ballet I had the role as an artist who tried to paint a portrait of one of the lady patrons, bought a flower from a girl, showed off the painting, got scolded by the lady i tried to paint, sold the painting for a load and then had a toast. Such a vibrant memory.
l loved a woman 35 years ago,she was married with 2 little girl's, we had to split cos of the hurt it was causing,I never saw her again,I think of her every day, sometimes cry for her,I l am nearing 80 now, she would be 67,such agony, but I am glad we had our love, I wanted her so much, now a sad old man.
I would like just to precize that it is not really Offenbach who wrote this piece but Rosenthal who used Offenbach themes and who keep the style of Offenbach.

Merveilleux !
The tempo in this version is near perfect. Other versions want to rush through the interchanging of orchestra sections.
Quel talent
my recital music this year!!!!! love it
Same! Haha we are using the very end and then the first section of our ballet dance is a waltz from Offenbach

French music: how great is used to be in the old times, and look at France now...
Everywhere in the World orchestras are shrinking their budgets unfortunately. Except in China perhaps...

For the sake of historical accuracy, his family was of Jewish origin. Like Emmerich Kálmán's family.

Which Orchestra/maestro/year played this?
It sounds just like the first classical LP I ever bought; René Leibwitz conducting the Paris Philharmonic.

Rosenthal !
Is this considered a "march", or what? Offenbach is one of the best I've heard yet.
