- Leather Seats in you car are great, but you have to maintain them or they will degrade over time. There are many different types of Leathers, Synthetics, and Vinyls that are used for automotive interiors so using a product to protect them is essential. In todays video I show you one of the protective products I like to use: Gyeon Leather Coat. It works really well on all types of leather or leatherette surfaces and leaves behind a nice layer of protection. I don't always use this, but in some situations this is my favorite product and I will explain why... ENJOY!!!

I have been using this for years. For untreated cleaned leather and vinyl, it is best to do two or three light coats. The best application system I have located is a baby brush for the original coat. Super soft and gets along the rim of the holes in ventilated seats and the threading and smaller details fast and easy. Then an over the finger (three usually) applicator. Spray only on the applicator or brush. Works best on when the surfaces are warm. Let the first coat dry overnight and then add a second. I rarely find a need for the third layer and only on older and higher quality leathers (Lexus LS430 would be an example). Reapply when the slickness recedes. For heavy daily use vehicles that generally means every two weeks on the drivers seat. I have not yet experienced any untoward buildup.
A little definitely goes a long way! Gyeon coming through for the win!
I like the slickness for the exact same reasons you stated. My leather seats are going on 7 years old now and they still look like new. Great video as always! Cheers.....
Great video Josh I’m a fan of the Gyeon leather products.
I've had the same experience with the slickness of this product, Josh, and I pretty much dismissed it as a result. But what you said about the bolsters makes perfect sense - I need to reevaluate my case usage of this! A couple of other quick questions, if you don't mind. What is your go-to leather/interior cleaner when there's a lot more dirt and grime? Is it still PolStar at a higher dilution, or something else? And second, when you completely want to avoid all slipperiness, but don't want to use an actual leather coating, what product are you reaching for to dress/condition the seats? Thanks!
So you're telling me I can live in the hills of San Diego and have a Rebel + Porch? You the man!
No they usually dont have Porchs here.
I used this on the seats of our daily drivers a while back and I didn't like the slickness nor did my wife. The seats in my car are bolstered so it wasn't as bad for me, but the more flat seats on her Tiguan caused her to slide around a bit. I noticed it as well when driving. It does make cleaning up dirt and grime in the back where the kids are a little easier.
Just put it on the back seats. They make a mess, you make a hard turn. They’ll figure out the pattern sooner or later. Might get some smudging on the windows, from their faces, but you’re probably already used to that with their fingerprints all over the windows 😂
Kidding, of course….
😆
@@leo-ub6nb My kids would never want me to stop. They'll think the car just turned into a rollercoaster and love it. At least only one of them still has the uncontrollable need to touch the window all the time.😄
Good point on the slickness!
Great video!!!!
Thanks have a great weekend!!
Could you link me the spongue applicator pad you use please?
Would something like top star from koch chemie be good for seats with bolsters like this and also for the dash and such? Looking for something to do just this and protect the rest of the interior.
Great video Josh but you need to add some side steps for the wife and kids
can this be used on alcantara if I keep it light? Seats have alcantara in the middle so and would like one product to protect it all
How this compares against Gtechniq LeatherGuard? It looks very similar but they claim more durability from it. What's you take on from that?
Is the Gyeon product good for nappa leather as well? I do not want to loose the new car smell :)
I have the ceramic coat from gyeon on mine how would you maintain that
Just traded iny crew cab Silverado for a Genesis G90. I was wondering what type to put on all the leather. I used a bunch of stuff on my truck but the G90 has Nappa leather and was concered about the softness being affected by a ceramic coating on the leather. Any advise? BTW congratulations on the Rebel
What to use on the microsuede that they use on headliners? My 23 Durango RT has that suede on the headliner and side panels and a few other spots
Not a bad idea. I should apply that to my passenger seat. I've noticed my daughter sliding off the edge of the truck seat. Would you recommend applying a leather conditioner before applying the coating.
Hi Josh, different subject.... Would you please do a review on some of the new "Microfiber Towels On A Roll"? Hard to tell which ones are the softest (gsm). I know that The Rag Company, Adams, Auto Drive, etc. now all have them. Thnx.
I saw your Geist 3 plus video but wondering how this would compare to the friction and dye transfer blocker in the Geist 3 minus. I bought it for a new car a month ago but haven’t used it yet trying to find more feedback
I was about to post the same comment lol. I'm in the same boat. Bought it for my cars a few months back but I haven't used it.
@@atrain132I have faith Josh or someone in the community will help us out!
The 2 products are in the same category so its basically the same thing and achieve very similar results. The Geist is just a newer brand than Gyeon. If you want to really protect your leather seats then i would recommend the Leather Shield (not coat) by Gyeon or other detail company but those are obviously alot more expensive and have a chemical smell because its like a ceramic coating for your seats. But all in all the Geist is more than good to enough
@@TrealTalk187thanks for the detailed info and response!
You should try this stuff called saddle soap it was originally made for saddles of course but is a miracle leather seat cleaner and protectant puts all these ridiculous chemicals to shame
Would you use something like Adam’s spray leather conditioner prior to leather coat after you clean the seats?
does it fit a leather steering wheel?
Ive had this stuff in amazon cart for a while now. Ive used other leather protectants and conditioners thst keave a slikc feel. Its not the end of the world. I may need to pull the trigger on this one come spring time. Good review!
I've been using Gyeon Leather Shield for longer protection.
Ya sound sick man? Or nah am I trippin? I'm sick also its crazzy
Great truck, I have the 2023 Night Edition with the same all black interior. I use Meguiar's Ultimate Leather Detailer because its locally available "Walmart". Is there a better product than Meguiar's in the big box stores you would recommend?
How does this compare to that new Geist product? Looking to coat a new Tesla X myself.
Awesome stuff!
Can you link your blow gun with the brush tip 👀
Kids seats in the Ram are a pain, eh?
Hi! Is it good for Tonneau Covers?
Great vid Josh V I’ve still never tried Gyeon maybe one day 🤔🧼
@IMJOSHV have you ceramic coated the exterior of the truck yet and if so what ceramic did you use?
I bought Avalon King for my own vehicle ceramic coating, it’s easy to diy and works great, decently priced
@@bromodz2309 thanks man, do all ceramics need to be applied inside? I don’t have a garage
@@danielfahrner6469I think the gyeon evo coatings are designed to be installed in or outside of a garage. I'd check out gyeon MOHS evo. Or if you want an easier product gyeon can coat evo. Just make sure they are the evo line.
@@mattmarnella1375 thank you sir, I’ve been wanting to do my car but always been told it has to be done inside so this helps a lot
@@danielfahrner6469 they recommend them to be applied in a closed environment, but not only that they must also give 48 hours to cure and not get wet or dirty for that time, so most likely gonna need a place to keep it
Good gawd JoshV... a Dodge? Bring it to the rust belt and watch it 'melt' away into a puddle of brown pudding. Trust me.
Bro lives in socal he ain’t worried about rust although the car might explode at 12k miles 💀
How often do you have to reapply
He said it lasts 3 months but goes by how the seats look & feel for reapplication.

I'm in need of the best product for suede. Nobody ever talks about suede....
Alcantara is the new name for suede. 😅
Got that YT cheese = $$$
