Played both 1 and 2 . Amazing games but it’s the story that makes it. And they have done it justice! Such a great show

Watching your reaction was so fun. I've played the video games and I am loving the series so far; it's doing some things differently but staying very close to the source material and story. The actors are knocking it out of the park as well!
Just remember, it's not a virus. It's a fungal infection. (And the things with the fungus zombie ants is real.) Great reaction. Great story, and pretty darn well follows the game (though it does expand on it.)

Cordyceps are very interesting, they've been used as medicine for a very long time but all wild strains grow on insects. Cordyceps Militaris has an orange, club-shaped mushroom that grows on a species of moth in Nepal, but has now been developed to grow on nutrient sparse substrates, instead. It's used to help your cardiovascular system and is being studied for other uses as well. Also, great reaction, much love!
The ending music is from Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again, the lyrics have a lot to do with the development of the series about the relationship between Ellie and Joel !!!
In The Last of Us universe there are no zombies, they are just called infected since they are not dead corps, they are being controlled by the fungus infection which is hosting in them :P
Hey, Pilar! The premiere is scrupulously faithful to the game in every way including story, dialogue, production design, sound design, wardrobe, props and characters. A few embellishments like the 1968 prologue, the elderly neighbors, the wandering boy and the familiar FEDRA guard customer actually add context and enhance the drama. Neil Druckmann, who created the game, is producing the show and HBO is obviously letting him influence the production. Craig Mazin, the showrunner, previously produced "Chernobyl".
That wasn't a clump of hair in the old lady's mouth but fungal tendrils. As John Hannah's scientist explained, the fungi seeks to propagate so these zombies don't feed on you but instead seek to transmit the spore aggressively. As the cordyceps fungi blooms it erupts out of the central nervous system of the host in several horrific stages ultimately rendering the body into a moldy tableau plastered to the wall. The spores were airborne in the game requiring the use of gas masks in areas of high concentration but the show will be dispensing with that since an airborne contaminant would have afflicted everyone in 20 years except those in hermetically sealed rooms. That's the reason for the vector being fungal tendrils extending from the mouths of the infected in the show. The infected are NOT animated corpses but living people aware of their condition yet completely controlled by the fungal growth in their brains.
This happens in real life to insects like ants whose colonies expel the infected. Many nature documentaries have covered this topic.
The increased temperature serving as a catalyst was a new explanation provided in the show to reference the issue of climate change.
Ellie is the most valuable human being alive! Humanity is on the brink and her immunity is the hope of the world.
The actress playing Marlene, Merle Dandridge, actually portrayed the same character in the game!
The '60's scientist was played by John Hannah known for "Four Weddings and a Funeral", the Brendan Fraser "Mummy" franchise, "Spartacus" and "Agents of SHIELD".
Anna Torv, who plays Tess, is best known for "Fringe" and "Mindhunter".
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are both "Game of Thrones" alums known for Prince Oberyn and Lyanna Mormont, respectively.
Pascal is, of course, Din Djarin as well from "The Mandalorian".
Uncle Tommy is played by Gabriel Luna who portrayed the Robbie Reyes iteration of Ghost Rider in "Agents of SHIELD" and the Terminator in "Dark Fate".
Nico Parker, who stole the show as Sarah, is Thandie Newton's daughter!
The video game is one of the most extraordinary journeys you can take that will haunt you forever.
The sequel is highly controversial but even darker and deeper than the original!

Nico Parker, who played Sarah, is Thandiwe Newton's (formally Thaddie Newton) daughter. She looks so much like her mom, and seems to be just as talented an actress.
The problem with people leaving is they are worried when people come back they'll be infected and won't tell anyone and then it spreads inside.

12:00 I cried at this point like a toddler, even though I saw the scene in the game and reactions x times and knew what was happening.
I was very skeptical about Pedro and Bella as Joel and Ellie. But they do it incredibly well. It feels straight out of the game. Also the others ... Nico as Sarah, Gabriel as Tommy, Anna as Tess. All done great. Merle as Marlene anyway cause it's the same actress as in the game.
My conclusion after this episode: I've never been so captivated by the start of a series based on a story I know inside and out.
So damn close to the game plus more informations and filled gaps. Absolutely masterpiece!

One of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen.
The pilot episode is one of the best pilots I've ever seen even surpassing that of the Walking Dead. The introduction gave clarity and showed the individual struggles people had to cope with. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they build the characters and how they develop the relationships and attempt to match that of the game.
Zombie TV shows and films have been done millions of times before and often lack creativity but this so far has a breath of fresh air and if like the games concentrates on human emotion and connection then I think it'll do incredibly well and I can't wait to watch the rest of the series.

As a gamer I can probably say with confidence that the community overall is in love with this adaptation, so far. Yes, there is minor differences in the tv series but overall doesn't detach from the spirit of the game. The scene where Sarah dies....WAY worse in the video game, imo. The acting with Pedro and Bella is amazing! Bella specifically has captured Ellie's feisty, outcast, kiss my ass attitude completely. Pedro...what can I say he's epic in everything he puts his mind to. Just brilliant both of them. The last thing worth commenting on, is that the tv series is giving alot more backstory that was never offered in the game. Example: The opening scene where the scientists are discussing fungus and the effects on the human body/the world was never part of the game. A happy change like many other tidbits throughout the episode🙂

Bella haß been incredible.. obviously no spoilers but as a massive tlou fanboy i guess..i couldn't see bella not being ellie now..she was amazing...likewise with pedro... for me wednesday was yhe tv event of a generation..i think it may still be tbh but tlou is right there..amazing acting and writting...
As someone who's played the game many times I'm really impressed with how well they've adapted it. They've stayed true to the story while adding new things that make it exciting for players, because we don't know _exactly_ how things will play out, and there's new characters and new information we didn't get in the game. The things they've changed make sense and don't detract from the story. I encourage you to play the game. I actually think with all the difficulty settings and accessibility features it's the perfect choice for someone new to gaming.
Just as an example..the plane crash..that was unexpected lol and it was epic..the sound design was so lush aswel.. madness.

I know I'm probably not the first one to mention this, but the actress who is playing Marlene is the same actress who did the mo-cap and voice of Marlene for the game. a couple of the OG actors from the game are gonna have roles in the show. Eps. the two lead actors who played Joel and Ellie.

6:11 Its funny that every single reactor who havent played the game mention how he should have left the note because in the game he actually did leave a note. Probably not in the show or they havent shown it or she just didnt find it. In the game he left the note on the fridge.

Hola Pilar, me encantó tu reacción y sobre todo como teorizabas sobre Ellie, Sin hacer spoiler te digo que para los protagonistas los zombies serán el menor de sus problemas, sobre el hongo, en este caso el cordiceps existe, búscalo en documentales para que te dé mas miedito la teoria de evolución de este hongo, y con respecto al parecido con el juego dejamen decirte que hay escenas calcadas como por ejemplo el de la toma dentro de la camioneta que tanto te gustó, esta serie está siendo muy fiel en todo sentido y por eso los que jugamos el juego estamos tan contentos. Hello Pilar. First thing, these things are not zombies. Second, haven’t played the game either. The scientist said the fungus keeps the host alive, while zombies are undead. If one could use a general name for the infected it would mostly like be Cordyceps, which is the fungus that started it all. There are different types, like the early one are known as runners.
1- Ellie es inmune .
2- el cordyceps es real , solo que actualmente afecta a los bichos.
3- Fireflyes es un grupo que busca la libertad de la cual el mundo está viviendo un régimen dictatorial y además buscan la cura .

If you truly like zombies, react to "Train to Busan" which is one of the best movies in the zombie genre. It has multiple character arcs, great acting by a child actress, a notable despicable actor, constant suspense, and social commentary. Even zombie connoisseurs who are skeptical watch and enjoy/love this movie
Omg she will LOVE it....Train to Busan is an INSANE MOVIE....scary and suspenseful and THE EMOTION. The level of acting in that movie is incredible

Sarah dying was always hard even though you never really knew her in game..it was a wtf moment...it had a certain gravitas.. this show elevated that to new levels.. by simply adding a few scenes with sarah at school and at the shop and her neighbours etc..it made sarah a true bone fide driving force for the show and for joel..and thus made the death scene frigging even more devastating... loved that opening..it was perfection imo.
The fungus zombie thing is real, there are some insects like ants that are affected by this. It is called cordyceps.

As your question at the beginning about hanging the people. Anyone that goes outside of the controlled area to find supplies and comes back in could possibly bring the infection with them and everyone could die.
Hola mina!! Great reaction as always Pilar! You're gonna love the funguitos! Also, your reaction proofs my criticism of the episode 1 ending. The important thing, the big reveal of the episode, the fact that Ellie is inmune, and therefore special and super-valuable, got diluted in the scene because they focus on Joel's flashback and anger. The way they shot it was a bit confusing. Still, the show has been pretty good so far, I'm sure you're gonna love episode 2! Y como mejoró tu inglés desde los dias de GoT! 👏👏🥰🥰

Hello Pilar…hope you are well! 👋 This is based off of most likely the best video game of all time! So far it’s very close to the game’s overall feel.
On UA-cam search for zombie ants. This is a real thing. The fungus infects and controls the ant and makes it move to an area where the fungus can grow best.

Mejor que no hayas jugado al juego para que así no sepas que va a pasar jaja. No como yo que cada cosa me la espero jaja. Pero las cosas nuevas añadidas también gustan.
Lo del niño del principio siempre va a doler pero me gustó como lo trató la mujer para que no sufriera.
Te explico lo de la mordedura de Ellie por si no la has entendido (NO SPOILER): Si te fijas en la escena del niño infectado... Enfocan un cartel que pone cuánto tardas en infectarte de Cordyceps dependiendo de donde te muerdan. Pues a Ellie la mordieron hace 3 semanas según dice ella y no le pasó nada.
Lo que quiere Marlene con Ellie lo sabrás en el capítulo 2.
Sino entiendes el tema de los Luciérnagas y Fedra, básicamente son diferentes facciones que están en guerra como pasaría en cualquier apocalipsis.
Espero haberte aclarado algunas dudas.
Yo después de ver el 2 porque es buenísimo me muero por ver el 3 y duele esperar una semana jaja.

If you like Attack on Titan season 4, you’re gonna love TLOU season 2 when it comes out. It has many similarities about themes and stuff like that.
Fungi does in fact pose an increasing threat to us as global temperatures rise. But don't expect to see human zombification anytime soon. These types of evolutionary adaptations take millions of years to happen so we don't need to worry about that. But we do need to worry about fungal diseases posing a greater threat.

Red would mean infected.

I'm new here, just subscribed, me encanto tu reaccion del show, I'm a big fan of the games I've played the original on PS3 back in 2013 beat 4x then i bought the PS4 remastered beat that 3x & played Part 2 beat that 2x, & because of how great the show is i plan on re-buying the PS5 Remake & beat that after the show ends lol! Big fan of Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey & Gabriel Luna & every actor in this show is absolutely perfect & are killing it, I'm also an Actor myself & i had the opportunity years ago to audition for this show, for a character you will meet later down the line, glad you are loving the show so far.

This thing, cordyceps, is a real fungus that affects animals, mainly ants, not humans.
After this show, you should DEFINITELY start Breaking Bad if you haven't watched it
If you have a decent enough PC, the PC version of the first game is going to come out in March. There's also other good zombie games, like Project Zomboid, which is very different, no story, non linear, open world sandbox type of game.
The infected are still alive unlike Zombies that are reamimated dead. Which makes this a little more believable since its based on real science. LOL ,aint nobody got time to close the door when your being chased and your carrying someone.

I don't know if you've watched Doctor Who I wanted you to watch it someday I wanted to see your reaction to this series,Doctor who has several episodes rumors As far as I know the Doctor Who series will come out on Disney in October I don't know if it's true,I wish that someday you would react to Doctor Who if you haven't watched it and it's not even cool it has several episodes and season
bruh this girl is gorgeous holy hell.
I can only wish you had played the game before watching the series, because after the series, your personal experience of the game would be somewhat hindered since the show has thus far been very accurate to the story of the game. So the element of surprise and suspense would not quite exist for you.
But I can recommend you this: When the story of Last of us 1 concludes on the show, Go and play Last of us 1 AND 2. You'll probably get enough time in between the seasons. Only watch the show's rendition of the 2nd game after playing it yourself. I promise you, the experience is vastly satisfying :)

WOW, I have watched several of these 'reactions' and they all have the same thing in common, NONE of them would go into their neighbor's house when they see the door open in the dark of night. What if the neighbor has fallen and can't get up, and sent the dog to you for help. Then they say when they see the blood on the floor, that is the moment they would flee. Really? What if your neighbor has been injured and is bleeding out? What if only you can help them, and you turn coward so they die? What kind of neighbor does that make you? What kind of PERSON does it make you?
