I like what my colleague said about my handbag addiction "at least it's not drugs..."🤣 Oh yes we are all crazy bag people 🤪😆xx I think my addiction to handbags came the same time as the menopause, so fairly recently really. Plus I had just come out of a long relationship that was financially draining for me. I took back my life and my finances and wanted something for me.
I love that - it could be worse 🤗🙈
I also found my way by reclaiming my finances after divorce so I can share the feeling liberation with you Rose!
Afterthought...I bought my preloved Birkin for 9K and that is the MOST I have ever spent but I can't say the most I will ever spend...Kill me NOW! haha
That’s so crazy isn’t it? Here’s to more bag candy Yota!! 🥰
I LOVE this!! What a story
❤️❤️❤️❤️ I also don’t have many folks to talk to about this with out being judged 🎊 great space here 🙏
Oh absolutely - we always have space for a chat sans judgement! Thanks for joining!
Great little stories hon, it’s a slippery slope for all of us 😂😂😂🙈🙈
Oh indeed it is... but so much fun!
In my youth coach and Dooley & bourke was luxury for me. When I was 45 I discovered preloved Louis Vuitton. Then I discovered UA-cam and now I have way too many fantastic bags.
Oh I can totally relate!
This handbag addiction we are afflicted with definitely has a way of growing...I remember when $1500 was uncomfortable and now....things have changed. Honestly I still am not comfortable spending the amounts of money I do even now but I just can't help myself. I seem to be a slave of my addictions! I laughed when you said "Mandatory Brownstone picture, pretending like you lived there" I have done the same thing so many times! ha Love your NY Chanel bag!!! Spectacular! When I was younger I hated Chanel, it was a rich old lady type of bag...Ughhhh now that I am an old lady, I want all the Chanel I can get my hands on! I about died when I bought my Chanel 19, but I wanted it and I got it...I see the parallel in our hand bag journey! The struggle is real Dayle!
Oh Yota! We continue to have so many shared experiences! Loved hearing your stories and so keen to hear many more!!! 😘😘😘
Dayle's Addiction ❤️❤️❤️
I just love your videos! It’s like we are sitting down over coffee and enjoying each other’s handbags and shopping experiences!!! My addiction started when I was in high school! I worked part time and I believe my first luxury bags were Gucci! Then LV won my heart and I’ve been smitten ever since! I don’t know where the years have gone, or how they flew by so fast, but I can proudly say I still own some of my original purchases from the 70s! Trust me, the thrill is still there all these years later!!! Thank you for sharing and helping me to take a LONG walk down memory lane!💖
Oh wow that’s amazing! I love that you still adore these bags all these years later - thanks for sharing with us here 🥰🥰
I must admit, I was kind of fascinated with Guess bags too, with that prominent 'G'! 😆 Love that you went to 'beige bra' when talking about classic bags you 'should' have! 🤣 Soooo what we can take away is: once you pop, you can't stop! 🤩🤩🤩
Just like Mr Pringle said! beige - meh 😒
I started off buying Coach bag ($400) about 15 years ago thinking I would only ever buy one. After quite a few years I had a collection of at least 10 bags. After watching UA-cam I started to get hooked on luxury. My husband bought my first LV bag which was the typical Speedy 30 for $1300. I kept it in my closet for months before I felt brave enough to wear it. Since then I really haven’t made that great of a jump. To date I think the most I’ve spent is just over 2k. I don’t know if I would be comfortable spending more than that but at one time I never thought I’d spend $400 so you never know.🤔
That’s super interesting Debbie, it’s a funny thing humility and luxury! Thanks for sharing your journey with us all 🤗
Wow! That Chanel bag is one of the most perfect bags I've ever seen!
The black one? It’s pretty unique!
Coach started my love for bags. I went to school with a girl who always wore coach purses and my mom bought me my first bag and cardholder. I was obsessed!! I still use the cardholder today, and it was from 6 or 7th grade so probably 15 years old and still in immaculate shape
That's so wonderful, my mother was definitely not into anything like that, still isn't. It's great that you still have an use the cardholder, such a special memory!
Oh Dayle. Great topics as usual. I totally blame my dad he and mom gave me a coach bag for graduation. Raised the kids, paid for college. Now enjoying buying my bags. You are correct it can be lonely not being able to talk lux as no one I know is in to it. Glad the you tube community is available to chat.
Kate - your parents... do they know what an impact hey have had on your luxury bag addiction? ha ha
I'm so glad for the chat too, it's changed the way I enjoy my wardrobe and my sense of self - it's ok to enjoy different things!
Right! Exactly
Once I kicked off the habit, I was screwed!! 🤣
well and truly! My name is Amelia and I'm screwed when it comes to luxury handbags... ha ha. Hi Amelia!!
Great video. Pretty amazing how much our acceptance of higher prices changes over the years. This was a fun video to watch. I really enjoyed hearing about your handbag journey. :)
Thanks Autumn I honestly gasp when I think about where it all started 🙊
What a great look back at your fashion choices. Love it.
It was a trip down memory lane!
Heavier set? No way! You’re stunning!
Aw thank you - Chanel and Dior don’t think so 🤣
I have ALWAYS loved handbags. I used to drag around old bags from my Mother and Grandmother when I was barely old enough to carry them. So the story goes from Coach to Chanel, Dior, Fendi. Our love for bags is real and nothing like a great bag to elevate an outfit. If you are ever in Texas, I would love to have lunch and share our love for bags!
That’s so cute D!
Lunch and bag chat sounds fabulous!! 😘
Love hearing the story behind your beautiful bags! 🥰It totally made me think of my own path starting with Coach. Beautiful Chanel bags! That caramel 19 🤎
Thanks for watching… our journeys are so much fun to reflect on!
I just bought my first true luxury handbag earlier this week. It arrives tomorrow and I am simultaneously filled with excitement and guilt. I started buying Coach gags when I got my first good job out of Grad School sixteen years ago and I have just continued staying at that price point all these years even though my income has increased significantly and we have more financial security. I come from a frugal family as does my husband and I worry about being judged. But darn it, I want it and I have wanted one for many many years.
Firstly, congratulations Amy, it’s such a huge thing to feel like you have ‘earned it’!! Secondly, the guilt with celebrating such an achievement is just fear about what it means that you’re in a place where you can do this. I’m sure you’re still going to pay your bills and eat and do all the things you need to do. Practice saying, I am so happy I finally found the confidence to celebrate my achievements with something I’ve truely wanted for so long - it makes me happy! That’s the response to yourself and everyone else!
@@DaylesAddiction I absolutely love this! I definitely need to practice the mindset shift.
Love your candid and casual way of sharing with us.
Thank you 🤗🤗
Love watching you and this one made me think back to my history. For years I raised my two daughters and money was tight (due to lack of child support) but I have always tried to dress for success and in my 30s I had Coach and Dooney/Bourke bags, in my 40s I purchased army first LV from a friend… when I was in my late 40s I had two jobs, my after hours job was at Macy’s where my extra money went towards my purse collection! Later in my 50s I began purchasing Kate Spade and I had at one time over 15 of them, some over $1k… all the while buying my daughters each Kate Spades for Christmas and birthdays! I have always told them that women can be judged by the handbag they carry. Now I have the LV Neverfull, four Gucci, Burberry, Tory Burch and MCM … but now I want to take the leap to a Chanel … Cannot wait to find a great deal on one!
Wow I loved reading your story, what a ride and you’ve passed on your interest to your daughters too, what a great connection to have together!
Enjoy your journey to Chanel, I’m sure you’ll love the experience!
I loved your trip down handbag memory lane. I don’t know why I love handbags so much, but I remember when I was in 6th grade my mom had given me her old red handheld purse. I would take it out with me at recess and just open and close it and admire it. My first “special” bag was given to me by my parents when I was in high school. It was a full leather bag with my initials on it in gold hardware. I think the brand was Villager (it was most definitely an “it” bag in the 60s - yeah, I’m old🤣🤣) and it was considered quite expensive at $40! I actually didn’t start buying high end luxury bags until much later in life.. after the house was paid for, kids’ college was paid for, etc. But now I’m treating myself cause I still love handbags!
You started so young, you really didn’t stand a chance Deb 🤣🤣
It’s fabulous that you can mark off all of these fabulous achievements and enjoy them along with some luxury handbags, congratulations on your journey so far!! 😘
the story about your first bag is soooo cuuuute!!
Memories 🤗
Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thanks for watching Erin 😊
I loved this story.
Thank you!
Aww I love this type of video!! ❤️My first 'I can't believe I just spent that much money on a bag' moment was buying a "french grey" backpack from the Tory Burch boutique in DC. It was about $650, and they gave me champagne (they definitely don't do that anymore). I brought it back the next day to exchange it for a black one because I was so freaked out by the light color. How far we've come 😂😂
Wow - straight to $650 Bam! Those experiences are so vivid in our memories, that's why we are all here!!
I remember buying a similar guess bag and matching shoes from the shoe / accessory boutique (something first name ? Mathers) at Portside. What a flash black !
They were always so in your face! Loved it!
This was so mich fun! Thank you for taking us down handbag memory lane along with you :) I think my first “expensive” bag was a Guess one, too! It was a baguette style under-the-armpit bag with a braided handle. Or one of my George Gina & Lucy bags (I had quite the collection 15 years ago🤣). I think it’s a German brand.
Oh wow, so many of us had similar starts! I love the nostalgia! Thanks for watching lovely 🤗
Another great video Dayle! Like I just mentioned to you on Insta my journey also started with Guess bags (and other similar brands) and then I slowly started getting into the more pricey market such as Kate Spade. Only 2 years ago I finally bought something I had my eye on for a while, the Gucci Marmont. Since then I bought 3 more bags, SLG's and accessories from various designer brands. It is an addiction that's for sure LOL. xx
I love that - had I of been near somewhere that sold Kate Spade I totally would have heavily invested! In the words of Mr Pringle - once you pop you can't stop!
I love this video Dayle!! I had a very similar journey. My first luxury bag was a coach bag pre owned cost around 500. My latest purchased was Chanel medium flap for 7800.
Wow yes! Looking back,it's all so relative around where we are at this very moment - and it's not even a sign of where we'll be in 10 years from now - just a moment in time.... scary!
That lavender colour on you 👍👍 Love the trip down memorylane. Brings back memories.
Lots of love from Norway 🇳🇴
💜💜💜 thanks for watching lovely 🥰
Aw I am obsessed with your edgy first chanel bag! It's so unique and cool! 🖤🖤
Hey hey I knew I’d see you here for the Chanel Frankenbag Erin 🖤🖤🖤
@@DaylesAddiction haha yes! You know how much I love it! 😂
Loved watching this video. I have always loved bags since I was a child. I have just bought my first two Chanel bags this year and I am in love. I only have one friend who is into luxury bags
It’s such a thrill and when you can’t share your joy with others it can take the edge off - that’s why I love UA-cam!
This was a lovely video! I really enjoyed hearing about the evolution of your handbag buying, and it’s really made me think about mine, which was very different from yours! Started with Kate Spade bags in grad school, then very unwisely leapt up quite suddenly to Balenciaga and Goyard and LV, then realized I had zero money left and went on a nearly 5 year hiatus, and after I got my full-time job, I got right back on the train and went high with Dior and Chanel! If your path is like a ladder or stairs, mine’s like a zig zag valley! Lol. RN my most expensive has been the Jumbo, which was YIIIIKES pricey, BUT I feel so happy and at peace finally having that bag in my collection, and I see myself kind of slowing down for a few months. Not necessarily because I’m at bag peace (like you, I don’t really see myself as a minimalist), but just because I have most of the major pieces that I’ve always wanted (lady Dior, woc, and classic flaps), and the urgency to “complete” my core collection has died down a little bit. For the first time in two years, I’m not immediately looking for the next bag and I’m happy to kind of scope out what’s coming in the next few seasons.
I love the thrill of a luxury rollercoaster Glenda! It's nice to just see what's coming up rather than be targeting a certain bag or style. It makes shopping much more fun!
This video was super interesting Dayle!!! I think the bag that really kicked it off for me was a big bright pink croc embossed Kate spade top handle bag I found on eBay! I used that bag everyday as a work bag! The rest is history 🤣
It only takes one and 💥 we are transformed into crazy bag ladies !!
@@DaylesAddiction Totally!!! damn it Kate spade (and Guess) lol!
What an interesting bag journey. ❤️ I have always been a bit heavier set despite all the exercise routines and diet plans I have followed through my life, so like you Dayle, I can't enjoy fashion in the way I'd like too, so I have always been drawn to accessories and mainly bags. My contemporary bag journey started with a Jasper Conran bag and matching purse. I then moved onto Radley and Karen Millen bags, followed by my two Mulberry bags which were just over a £1000 each. My first bag from a 'luxury designer' was a Neverfull which I bought in 2016 from Redundancy money! Now I have 4 LV bags (including my Neverfull), a LV keepall and various slg's - I did have a Gucci bag and a Chanel Classic Double Flap, but I have since sold them.❤️
Thanks for sharing Mandy! I love that you celebrated your redundancy with an LV bag!!
Excited for this ❤︎❤︎❤︎
🤗
Thank you for sharing! I started with Coach and still love Coach ;)) I bought a SLG for $100 and never looked back.
Coach is a fabulous brand, I love the NYC identity!
1993 Dooney and Burke $156
1999 Coach $185
2001 Coach $190
2003 Fendi $325
Still have both of these bags and my daughter uses the Fendi sometimes
2008 Miu Miu €1000
2012 Prada €1850
2016 Fendi €1800
2018 Celine €1800
2020 Celine $2750
And many vintage and preloved bags in between
-I did a vision board in 2017 with Chanel and Celine written in it. I now have 5 Celine bags and 3 Chanel. Either purchased or gifted ❤️ manifesting the dream here!
Going to embark on another vision board soon
Would love to add a Lady Dior or Hermès Picotin ❤️ who knows
Mitzi that's so inspiring! I might have to do me a vision board too as my wishlist really is just for giggles... it doesn't really inspire me.
Hey Dayle…what a fun video…
I bought my first Guess handbag in 2008…I remember the excitement I felt around it and how much I adored it and how proud I was that I owned it….I still have it in my collection…I don’t use it anymore but it reminds me of the start of my luxury handbags journey….I remember paying for it and thinking wow that’s ALOT!!!
Isn’t it a great reminder of how quickly things escalate!!
I always love bags but kinda over with luxury bags recently... And bought watch, jewellery, property instead. I think i am happy with the few staple ones now ❤️
It’s great to enjoy your bags but also other things and jewellery and property are all types of fun too!
I love this video, one of my favourites! My hand bag addiction started with a coach canvas bag, I spent maybe $100. I slowly ventured into luxury with LV and then moved on to Chanel. The addiction is real. 😂
Our appetite and interests continue to evolve over time and it really is crazy to look at what was once preposterous is now normal!
Thank you for the video!
Thanks Daniel 🥰
Wonderful video. Thank you.
Thanks Kare 🥰
Really great video, Dayle. I enjoyed learning the history behind your evolving collection. My most beloved bags have a special memory or milestone behind them, too. On my honeymoon in Paris (2004), I unfortunately could not afford to commemorate that special time with a visit to 31 Rue Cambon. Nearly a decade later, when I had my son (2013) I was again not in the position to drop thousands on a bag. However, after years of school and career, and at age 40, I was finally able to celebrate some of my accomplishments by finding a preloved Chanel Jumbo from my son’s birth year and making my first visit to my city’s Chanel boutique (I am loving my Chanel 19 large for everyday). Thanks so much for your thoughtful videos 💖
That's such a fabulous story Oli - I bet you treasure that bag and what it represents in your life! What a special purchasing experience, thanks for sharing and watching!
I had been buying Coach, Kate Spade since I started working in my 20s. Had a baby at 33 and needed a lightweight bag so got into Longchamp (still love their Le Pliage Neo with the crossbody strap!). One day two years ago my daughter and I went to the mall to “look” at LV, the only luxury store around here and I left with my first bag!❤️ So fun and special because my daughter helped me pick it out. Over the past few years I have bought 4 new and a bunch of preloved (mostly) LV bags and SLGs. My life is so casual I don’t ever see myself buying a Chanel although I would love a Fendi Peekaboo. I am trying not to buy anymore and use what I have but I love watching luxury videos and keep finding things I want!
Thanks for sharing your story Kathy! What a great experience for your first LV, don’t you just love that instant ‘I am going to take it!’ Moment?
Your handbag 👜 collection is so beautiful ❤️☺️
Thank you!! 😊
@@DaylesAddiction your welcome
Great video! My handbag journey also started with Guess, followed by Michael Kors and Furla. Swiftly moved on to Louis Vuitton and Gucci. I bought loads of Louis Vuitton in a very short space of time and then regretted not buying at least one Chanel instead. Luckily for me I discovered the lovely Angela at the Purse Affair so I sold a lot of my LV and traded up to Chanel with her. I bought my jumbo direct from Selfridges in London and also my WOC was bought new. My next bag will most likely be a peekaboo fresh from the store, but that will be my last major purchase for a while and I'll most likely just buy one or two bags a year. I rotate my bags regularly but I'm looking at them now and I really am only reaching for five of them. My LV Pochette Accessoires, my Alma BB in epi noir, my DE Neverfull, my Gucci Soho Disco and my Chanel Boy. I think all the lockdowns have probably had something to do with that as I'm not going out much, but I might look again at my collection and curate it more once life gets back to some sort of normal.Oh and I'm on the curvy side and will be 60 next year so I can't rock my clothes any longer but I can still rock my bag!
That’s so cool! Angela has hooked me up too, and it really is great to have a trusted ally in the preloved luxury world! That’s so exciting about your Peekaboo, lockdown has definitely messed with the bag live but hopefully you find your mojo again soon!
Love your channel! I can totally relate, my first “expensive” bag was a Coach bag in 2000. As a guy it was quite uncommon back then to go into a boutique and buy from the “women’s” collection. Not only did I have a panic attack shopping from the women’s line, I also remember shaking as I wrote the check (that’s how we paid back then LOL) for $400. Now days of course bags have no gender, and I now own Chanel and Hermes…looking back that $400 seemed like $4000 back then!
Oh thanks so much!! You're so right... the price and time and appetite to spend are all relative!!
It's a great video, a really great video. I'm sure I have that 3rd Guess bag you showed packed away somewhere, mine is in dark brown, it's a patent mock croc, is that what yours was, the red one? Oh the memories, hahaha.
The days when $250 was a lot of money for a bag!!
My first high end luxury was an LV never full
Classic! I'm considering a GM at the moment - I feel the travel bug... can't go anywhere I think it's just this time of year...
I have always loved handbags but only recently bought into the “luxe” vibe. I started with a Christian Dior Small Book Tote (carries my iPad etc, & holds a folded walking stick) yes I know a “s£xy” reason for a bag (not). I have since purchased 3 Chanel bags, a medium classic flap (caviar), a Trendy 19 with a strap/handle & a CC19 (lambskin) GHW & ruthenium in the case of CC19. This has all happened since paying mortgages of @ 17% interest, debt free & finally buying dream cars for ourselves. Served in the ADF whilst carrying backpack (khaki mottle LOL), rifle, webbing, radio & “hiking” 40 / 50 kms). Not much use for lux items when a gas mask is required & large atropine needles for NBC (nuclear, chemical & biological warfare). Hence I’m a mature “lux” lover and adore watching UA-cam channels with unboxing of new bags etc. 💐
Wow Min what am interesting career - you certainly have made up for lost time girlfriend!! Great choices and unique uses too!
Thanks for sharing with us 🥰🥰
I can remember the stages that made me uncomfortable, it started as a $450 Mimco bag, it was 20 years ago and I still have it packed away. This quickly became the norm as with all the stages. Then it was Jimmy Choo at $1650 … Saint Laurent at $3700 … Dior at $5500 and then it went onto Chanel Classic flaps and when they jumped over 10k I felt sick all over again but continued to buy them 🙈 I remember each bag and experience vividly but it was the saint laurent that made me feel the worst as I didn’t love the bag like I should have and felt so bad when I’d look at it 😩😂
I love hearing that story it’s so similar to mine - and only one regret so far.. you’ve done so well💃. Still buying classic flaps takes some real gumption so hats off to you my friend 🤗
I think we’ve all bought a bag that we regret just a little….🤦🏼♀️
@@ladysusanjane2682 I am learning that it is very common to make some luxury mistakes. It’s nice knowing that I’m not the only one 😁
Oh My that silver guess bag is so similar with my bag about 2008 as well🤣by that time im so proud having that bag
If you watch my video of picture perfect tag I featured it there🤣
I will check it out lovely!!
I think you do pretty well in the fashion stakes, lovely 🥰
🙈🙈🙈 thanks lovely Shaz 😘
My evolution of handbags was shopping at Strandbags, then jumped to LV (while holidaying in NZ pre children) and I had had that bag 10yrs and only used it 3 times. I then became widowed and thought why have nice things and not use them when life is short…..so starting “rocking my Louis in Big W” as my kids would say! And now I settle between Oroton and Status Anxiety price point but LOVE watching luxury bag collections.
Thanks so much for sharing Fiona, I’m so glad that in your grief you decided to enjoy life - even in Big W. LV monogram really can go anywhere I think, keep enjoying it and thanks for sharing 🥰🤗
My bag addiction began with Nancybird bags, they stopped producing bags that I loved, so I started looking at other bags. I sold all of my Nancybird’s, about 14 of them and used the money to buy my first designer bag. A Gucci bamboo handle tote in the most beautiful hot pink colour, it’s preloved, but in perfect condition from Vestiaire collective, I’m in love with it, attention to detail and gorgeous quality.
I’m with you on Chanel, I thought they were a bit plain, though I so love your caramel bag. My favourite of yours are definitely your Fendi collection.
Thanks for the video
Wendy your Gucci sounds devine - everything you want in a Gucci bag (bamboo and colour!!) 💕
Oh Dayle! I’ve got a few Marc Jacobs bags but recently have bought my first Gucci bag. The jump in price was real and I’m already eyeing an even more expensive Fendi one 🤔 it’s a slippery slope!
It’s very dangerous once you start! Thanks for sharing 💃🏻❤️
My first Chanel was my 20c denim green denimpression flap ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's one hot bag! what a first Chanel piece, no following the classic 'beige' rules for you Li!
Great to see the Evolution of your bag journey! Wish our AUD was on par with the USD 😩
Oh me too… the things we would do!
U do u bu🥰 I have been collecting bags luxury and contemporary for well over 30 years 😋😋I truly love them and njoy them all💘
I’m so glad they being you joy!
Ty dayle 💗
I saved up for an Oroton bag when I had my first FT job! It seemed very exy at the time & it was a long time before their DFO stores. I just progressed from there. 😆😆
They still are exy! Thanks for sharing Narelle 🤗
I started my handbag collection with Guess and Coach too! Kate spade as well.
Still great bags!!
Same here!
Great video
Thank you 🤗
I was a guess bag lover too in the 2005ish era!! They had so much monogram and heavy hardware and bright colours and I loved them! Haha I held onto my guess bag until about 2019 I think and I finally donated it lol.
How much fun were they? I can’t believe I found mine so many years later! 🤣
@@DaylesAddiction I know ! What are the chances!!
Great video ❤️👍🏻! I startet my bag collection 2003 with a black Furla. In 2006 I bought my first luxury bag a LV Speedy 30 Monogram and I still have that bag. I hardly use it now but I keep it for sentimental reasons. I love handbags as much as you do and I also don’t buy into hypes. I only buy what I love and I don’t care if it is in style or not! Love your handbag collection 🥰! Take care! xoxo from Austria! Martina
Thanks so much for sharing Martina! Those big Lv speedy bags are a bit cumbersome aren’t they? It sounds like we share a similar bag philosophy 👯♀️👯♀️
@@DaylesAddiction I need a strap nowadays, handheld only doesn’t work anymore for me ☺️! I really like small bags but I also love big bags 🥰! I enjoy your channel so much because you share what you truly love and what is hyped! 😘😘
@@martina1012 I’m not selling anything so it’s easy!
My first bag was a coach bag when I was 16 in 2007 I didn’t start with Louis Vuitton and Chanel until I would say 2018. 💕
So you started early and then had a big jump 10 years later - so interesting! So you still have that Coach bag?
@@DaylesAddiction I know I blame it on UA-cam lol yea I do still have that bag I actually gave it to my daughter 💕
The pricing and hype of the Chanel 19 ended it all for me. I found other things in life to enjoy and spend my time. I still love all my bags and appreciate each and every one of them. I still can actually watch videos and not get tempted to buy. The 19 just really had me questioning myself 😂. I just could not for the life of me justify the 7-8k for the bag. So, I moved onto remodeling my home and traveling. My kitchen starts remodeling next week and going to the Bahamas soon 😆. Maybe I’ll come back around later to bags when I get that itch..who knows… 😉
That’s such a great story, you’re so right! The opportunity cost is really important to consider! I think that if travel was on the cards right now I wouldn’t be spending this money on handbags for sure.
I remember those guess bags, I had a black one full of silver studs, chunky hardware and interior leopard print. I had been eyeing that bag at strand bags for a year, finally got it and the matching wallet on sale 20% off. I barely used that bag, possibly twice, because a) it was so heavy with all those chunky studs, b) it was more of an evening bag but was too large for evening and c) i realised too late that it really just wasn’t my style. I recently found it taking up space in the back of my wardrobe and decided to donate it 🤷🏼♀️ it’s probably on eBay now.
ha ha, some sucker like me chasing a vintage coach bag will pay good money for that bag! Love that story... the thrill, those bags were something else, that's for sure!
Lol I thought I was sooo smart buying a Guess bag back in 2006. It was a denim blue colour in the LV papillon shape. Thought it was the bees knees…until I bought my first LV speedy just afterwards and then a rapid slide downhill (financially) from there!!!😂
🤣🤣🤣 oh that familiar story!
Me and my husband have finally agreed I need a small Chanel 19 🥳 now I just need to find a Chanel willing to post to me or I’ll have to take a trip to london ! ❤️
Wow that's super exciting!!! Do you have a colour in mind?
@@DaylesAddiction black is my first choice but I am open to others I’d prefer darker ❤️

Happy Sunday Dayle! I really enjoyed watching this video over a lazy Sunday lunch 😊 love all the long chatty videos! When it comes of luxury handbags I’m a late bloomer. I’ve aways loved handbags but prior to last year I think my most expensive bags were Coach and Longchamp at $650. My craziness started last year when the pandemic became serious and a friend passed away unexpectedly from food poisoning. She was only 40 years old and left behind 4 children. At the same time I was consuming a lot of UA-cam due to the COVID lockdown and fell in love with the Chanel mini reissue which was featured heavily on YT. My friend’s passing had a huge impact on me and made me realise how short life can be. I pulled the trigger and bought the Chanel mini reissue. I felt physically sick at paying over $5k for a handbag but loved it so much. Then bought two other Chanel’s in quick succession and felt sick again, but it didn’t stop me. I have now have 5 Chanels, and looking to buying another by end of this year. It seems quite silly given we are still in lockdown in Sydney and I haven’t even worn the last two bags I bought. However I do play with my bags when I’m bored 😆, and we won’t be in lockdown forever, so I want to buy all my Wishlist bags before the prices get even more ridiculous and become completely unattainable. Sometimes I think I’m going through a mid life crisis, but the real truth is probably that I’m just a crazy bag lady and will never completely stop buying expensive handbags 😂
Wow Jamel, that must have been heartbreaking loosing your friend so suddenly, my sincere condolences sweets. I love that in your grief you backed yourself and jumped in the deepend. What a big dive you took!! You’re so right, you won’t be in lockdown forever and the prices won’t be going down.
Congratulations on your growing collection 😘🥰
So sorry to hear about your friend. How painful it makes you realize how truly short life is. Enjoy your bags.
Buying luxury bag is addictive Dayle I remember 9 years ago Im so scared to get in in LV store because I dont want to buy luxury bag now i cant imagine i have 56 of them, and counting🤣🤣🤣
Were same Guess bag for me before is too expensive for my budget🤣
You have 56 bags! Wow that’s extraordinary, you definitely caught the bug! 💃🏻💃🏻
My top end is at 5k for now, which still sounds nuts to me! But like you, they're (and higher) the prices now...
Exactly, denial doesn't get you anywhere besides Egypt!
Hi Dayle! You look gorgeous today
Oh thanks lovely! 😘
Ah yes, I do remember the first time I spent 1k on a purse. I did it twice within two months: A 1k Marc Jacobs bag (back in 2007 he sold expensive bags too), and a 1k Gucci handbag and $500 wallet. After that I didn’t get back into luxury bags until 2019, lol. I do remember being obsessed with the Chanel Boy and really really wanting one. It was 2009/2010 and the market was very bad. We were lucky just to have a job and I was too scared to buy one. The guilt of buying too many luxury items in a row was strong (& I hardly used them 🙈🙇🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️) ! I was mostly buying Tory Burch, Coach, and Kate Spade during those 12 years.
Wow you got bitten hard and then held your horses for a while. Yes the Financial Crisis had a big impact on consumer confidence, oddly, Australia didn't feel the enormity of the impact for very long, it was about 6 months and we bounced back into a boom.
Love you with Johnny's star
Such a highlight with my brand new husband 🤣🤣🤣
@@DaylesAddiction hahaha!
I started really late. Like you, I started with a floral Guess fabric bag, a blue Guess scrunched bag and many other midrange brands like Rebeanco and bought my first preloved black LV speedy 25 on a Facebook group. I sold that bag ever since after wearing it 3 times as it's so hard and couldn't fit my stuff in. The opening was so small. 😅 Sold it to a consignment store and lost almost 50% of what I paid for. 😭 Price to learn what doesn't fit me. Then I moved on to other bags like my Loewe Puzzle, Chanel vintage flap & Fendi peekaboos. Currently I have 4 lux bags after selling one Chanel away for a small loss. I'm very happy with my collection. 😅. It would be probably be in my 60 when I can get myself to shell out that much money for a bag or if I win lottery. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh no, your Speedy!!! I just filmed a video about LV bags I don't recommend and it falls into that list for the same reasons you mention here.
I love Fendi Peekaboo's too, super versatile and easy to use!
Thanks for sharing :)
@@DaylesAddiction yeah, i scuffed my hands when digging stuff in the speedy 25. Its like the same experience as the Givenchy Antigona small. lol
@@iamjulia9458 yes I imagine so!!
It's a slippery slope🤗🔥💞🤣🤣🤣🤣
There’s no backing down….
You should stuff the bag and put it in a clear acrylic box
Big box!!
I've only ever bought Strandbags, but I'm planning on purchasing a $5000 Bvlgari bag for my birthday next year, so no steps for me! Unless you count the $1110 Bvlgari scarf, $740 Burberry scarf and $1280 Bvlgari clutch I've purchased this year, but the $5000 will be my first handbag purchase
That’s a huge jump - you obviously know just what you want - how exciting!!! What will you use this bag for?
@@DaylesAddiction I think it'll be good as a nice lunch/high tea/wedding sort of bag, rather than an everyday bag. There's another Bvlgari bag I plan on purchasing later as a more general use bag, but starting with the slightly fancier one because I just want to.
@@roxiewynter8152 sounds perfect!
They have such gorgeous bags
@@roxiewynter8152 Just jumping in here… There’s a personal style UA-camr named Kim Bedene who sometimes wears her Bvlgari bag as an every day bag with jeans and stuff! Looks amazing on her. Do check her out to see how she styles it :)
That looks really heavy but it lovely
It is!
I bought a $300 lavender coach bag around 2006. I now know it was probably a knock off of the Fendi baguette.
Probably but coach do great bags!
I love you rebuyed the bag, that started it all for you! I have a „my luxury shopping journey“ video planned aswell - but am procrastinating aswell 😅🙈 - thank you for pushing through, I loved this video! The first time I spent big bucks on a bag was straight Louis Vuitton, I dipped in Chanel somewhat later but got disappointed 😅 - so I never went over 3,5k again (until now - we‘ll see, how things will be going in the future 😁)
Oh Mary I’d love to hear your story, I hope you can find the energy to film it soon 🤗
How does this happen!! 🙈💕🙈
words escape me... actually - I have plenty of words... not much sense in them tho... ha ha
"Fully embedded" from Coach to Hermes.
Wow!!!! That is a jump!
❤️😘
😘😘
Well. I can't say I have not been warned. I must have 10 bags - my most expensive one is 650 euro and.most are 100-200 all beautiful outlet, sale or vintage. Do you think I can still STOP????
Tamar - all I'll say is, if you have multiple bags and you watch youtube... you are in trouble... ha ha
Honest answer- if not especially calming
The difference between $300 and 8k is the same difference between 8k and 15k! 😱 scary thought...
Wholly cow that is scary!
@@DaylesAddiction moving into H territory.... 😜
@@bitsnbags 🙈🙈🙈
I got my first LV Neverfull this year. I think this will remain the most expensive bag in my collection. I live in a place where luxury and expensive items are seen as a waste of money. I also only use my LV when I go outside my hometown .A Chanel bag, no matter how high on my wishlist, will probably not come to avoid nasty looks. So, that's how my handbag journey will probably end with LV as a max
Well I hope you can get to a point where you feel more comfortable using it in your home town Patsy - you should be able to enjoy it 🥰
I know what you mean Patsy. You do have to be careful where you carry obvious high end designer bags. That is one reason that I would never carry a bag with a huge logo on the front. Plus to me it seems pretentious. Wouldn't it be lovely though to live in a place where everyone carried, Chanels, LVs Dior's etc. It's not going to happen to me any time soon😅
@@Billiard-cp1my that’s such an important thing to be aware of, I don’t have to think twice about what I carry and where and this is a relatively small city 🤷🏻♀️ I also carry luxury when I travel and for work and again, I don’t get a sense that it’s even noticed. Different places have different social vibes I guess.
